In the new Rolling Stone magazine, there is an article about concerts this summer and it says: "DMB will preview new material on its amphitheater tour..." Is this old news? I didn't know they were going to be playing new songs.

Yes to both accounts. Though new songs before the release makes me nervous. I hate to think that we will here great songs and then hate the versions they put on a record next year (like 2000 version of Grey Street, Raven, etc. that blow away versions played today).

I would also like to see the band mix up their setlists more and try to be a little more adventurous in that area.

Mine too, their playing has been extrodinary over the last year and a half but they seem to be too conservative at times. They have the talent to put it out on the line each night. That kind of danger for them would lead to great things in my opinion.

So true. Everything they play is so tight right now that we "fans" nit-pick about how in tune boyd is on the same rift he plays every night. I'd rather hear them fuck up every once in a while if it means wicked jams that would give merit to certain shows being labled "epic" or "legendary."
Recently you can pick the best shows of a tour based on their setlist because you know how long each song is and how it was played. I'd like to look at the setlist and not know if certain songs are special because they were played different that night.

I hope some of what Dave said about his views of "pop-culture" translates into the future of dmb. To me DMB is becoming a slight victim of that culture. There is very little of that "playing together for music on the spur of the moment" in DMB right now.
I'm not complaining by the way.

I have also heard that not all the songs they are working on for the new album will be played over the duration of the tour... this would leave some of the album a surprise
