The opening crawl has been announced for EIII (taken from the official site):

War! The republic is crumbling
under attacks by the ruthless
Sith Lord, Count Dooku.
There are heroes on both sides.
Evil is everywhere.

In a stunning move, the
fiendish droid leader, General
Grevious, has swept into the
Republic capital and kidnapped
Chancellor Palpatine, leader of
the Galactic Senate

As the Separatist Droid Army
attempts to flee the besieged
capital with their valuable
hostage, two Jedi Knigts lead a
desperate mission to resuce the
captive Chancellor...

well, i think i just found my answer. http://experts.about.com/q/1243/3369201.htm

there were never 9 books.

but now the real question arises. is he REALLY gonna do 3 more?! i HIGHLY doubt it, and for his sake and ours, i hope not. i remember hearing that after he makes Episode III he's done with Star Wars for good, and who can blame him? he will forever be known as Mr. Star Wars (which isn't a bad thing), but if the bulk of your life was focused on one thing that got SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO popular, don't you think you would finally come to a point where you would just have to say, "alright... i think i'm done now." ?

i also thought i heard that his son (?) or someone might do episodes VII, VIII, and IX, but that's probably a myth.

That would be cool. I found it at www.supershadow.com which, dont get me wrong is a very intersting site, until I learned that It's total bull according to the Star Wars website. But one can hope. I wouldnt mind there being a third trilogy, but I don't know about a TV show, we wouldnt want another Christmas Special would we?

I used to read that site, I sent him a couple emails calling him out on his B.S. but he never replied. I would hope that the TV series would be better than the atrocity that was the x-mas special. I think I heard the TV rumors on theforce.net which is pretty reliable.

another movie not trilogy would suffice. There is still alot of events that need to take place after ROTJ. I am sure just because the emperor was killed doesn't mean that the empire has disorganized. There is always someone else to take the leadership role. A single movie that takes place after ROTJ that shows the return of the senate and the republic taking control of the senate needs to take place and not to mention the break down of the Empire.

if they know what's good for them, which i think they do, they won't do another trilogy nor especially a TV show... ugh *shudder*

i am pretty anxious though to see where it all went wrong with Anakin--->Vader and how that all came about.

Everything that goes down after ROTJ is in the books. There's a ton of trilogy books (you can find the timeline at theforce.net, in the books section) that are considered Expanded Universe.

Anyone want spoilers for Episode III? Lemme know.

A lot of the post ROTJ info can be found in some of the video games. The "Jedi Knight" series tends to follow a good story line, though they have more to do with new charactors rather than the original charactors.

Just to back this up...

If you want to know what goes down in the post ROTJ world of Star Wars, just read the three books written by Timothy Zahn. In order, they are Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command.

I used to be very heavy into the Star Wars novels and I always thought that the other authors besides Zahn never really understood how to build a believeable story.

I thought I already saw a trailor in the last couple of months at a movie - I don't remember which movie which is a surprise b/c I don't see many movies - because I grabbed my girlfriends arm, and she was like, what...and I just stared at the screen. Maybe it was a short montage of scenes...I can't remember, I should check with the old lady.

Oh well, I can't wait for the movie to come out. It has been way too long.

On a side note, I though that Lucas was stepping back after Ep 2, and letting other people around him direct the movie, he would be overseeing the whole thing. That was a long time ago....

West Hollywood, Calif.: Any news on the hot Hayden Christensen and his lightsaber?

Will Keck: How funny this question should come from WeHo. Well, I'll be professional and say the new 'SW' trailer will be out this month -- attached to the new FOX animated movie 'Robots.' Sam Jackson tells me the trailer shows who fights who -- and may give a glimpse as to which character takes Mace Windu down. George Lucas also told me at the Oscars that he's developing a 'Star Wars' TV show that would take place between the events of 'Revenge of the Sith' and 'A New Hope.'

Since last year George Lucas has been dropping hints regarding the possibility of a TV series. Today they are no longer hints. On USA Today, the TV series was confirmed by Lucas and now most recently the President of Lucas licensing, Howard Roffman, has quoted stating that a live action TV Series will indeed hit airwaves by fall of 2006.

George Lucas is not expected to direct or have anything to do with the day to day operations. Lucas during his USA Today interview said "Ultimately, I'm going to probably move it into television and let other people take it.....You know, I've got offshoot novels, I've got offshoot comics. So it's very easy to say, "Well, OK, that's that genre, and I'll find a really talented person to take it and create it." Just like the comic books and the novels are somebody else's way of doing it. I don't mind that. Some of it might turn out to be pretty good. If I get the right people involved, it could be interesting.

All indications from Skywalker Ranch point to George wanting to find someone to take creative control from his hands. George will remain as an "Executive Producer" but wants to have a creative team including veteran sci-fi writers and directors. The most interesting thing is that George is wanting to hand over the reigns of Star Wars to someone who will respect the films and is actually a fan of the saga. One name keeps popping up during my calls to my "Ranch" associates as a perfect candidate to become "Lord" over Star Wars. According to Lucasfilm insiders George would like someone with writing and directing experience and that already has a connection with the fan base and also be an independent film maker.

So who is this "Fan Boy" that Lucasfilm would like to recruit? Before I drop any names I am sure that plenty of you guys and gals will think that I am absolutely crazy and out of my mind. The first name that I was given was no other than Kevin Smith. "Kevin Smith would be the ideal person to handle a Star Wars TV series", the IESB was told. "He is well recognized with the fandom and he was worked on some capacity with Lucasfilm during a Hasbro commercial a few years back, he is also a very good writer," said the source.

So would Kevin Smith be interested in getting involved in some capacity with Star Wars TV? You normally don't get directors from the big screen go to the small screen but if there is any truth to these speculations we might have the best of Star Wars ahead of us. But as much optimism there is from one side of the Ranch there is also some pessimism. "I just hope that he [George] doesn't just do the TV series for the money that it will make and end up giving us a weekly kiddie show, he needs to learn from the mistakes from Star Trek and give sci-fi fans a quality show," said the source.

In a recent interview that we had with Star Trek head honchos Rick Berman and Manny Coto we asked them what kind of advice they would offer George Lucas regarding a weekly Star Wars TV series. "Its one thing to have three years and over a 100 million dollars to create a one 2 hour movie compared to 22 to 26 one hour episodes in a year with a very limited budget and still have to remain fresh in the eyes of your audience", said Berman. Manny Coto also had a good point when he said " You have to concentrate on the story and also the characters and not make a weekly special effects show." When asked if he had any other advice for George, "He can always hire me if Enterprise doesn't work out".

So who will helm the new Star Wars TV series? Who ever it is will probably be brought aboard right after ROTS premieres in May 2005. A fall 2006 release would give Lucasfilm one year to get the TV series ready to blast off.

Good point. This is why it would take place after episode six. It'll probably play on the Thrawn Trilogy and all.

I definitely wouldn't want to see Yoda in Dagobah for an entire television series.

Hooper: Check this shit. You got cracker farm boy Luke Skywalker, Nazi poster boy, blond hair, blue eyes. And then you got Darth Vader, the blackest brother in the galaxy, Nubian god!
Banky Edwards: What's a Nubian?

The TV series is supposed to take place long after the orignial trilogy where Mark Hamil would play an older version of Luke, who doesn't go on adventures, but interacts with younger characters not introduced yet.

Or at least that's what I've heard so far. It still couldn't go through because nothing has been confirmed but Hamil says he wants Kevin and Lucas says if it were to happen Kevin would have something to with it.

New TV Series news from Kevin Smith

"STAR WARS TV SERIES"
# Although Kevin was extremely coy when asked, as always, he did say he’d be interested if such a show began production and said the show (again, if it started production) would most likely take place between the two trilogies, involving both major and minor characters. To this, we say...COOOL!

Much better if his first appearance was in the dark shadows proceeded by the famous breathing or something cool like that. Oh well Lucas blows now anyway.

I really don't think it's weak, because it's showing the transformation of Anakin to Vader. If you've seen or read any spoilers, you'll know that there is a transformation of Anakin to Vader on something like a lab table, where he is basically reconstructed by droids, kind of like a Frankenstein. This is Palpatine's way of creating his own "monster," so to speak.

I admit, it gives me the chills every fricken time.

I know it is.

I can still remember seeing the Star Wars trilogy for the first time when they were rereleased in 1997 I believe (I'm only 17 now). They were so great and after seeing them, I became a huge fan.

Then came Phantom Menace which lowered my expectations...and then came AOTC which while better than PM, still wasn't all that good.

The funniest part of the whole thing is that the movie is not even playing at the Chinese Theatre. Its playing at the Arclight down the street. I guess all the other star wars films were shown at the Chinese, but Lucas decided to put it at the Arclight. I'd like it if they would do a theater trilogy of these films. I attended the LotR trilogy when Return of the King opened and it was pretty cool. Long day though, good thing that theater sold beer.

Yeah...the storyline in this one will actually be decent and eventful.

I still think Lucas ought to have never gone back to Anakin's early childhood in Episode I.
The way I see it (and I'm no SW buff, but I know a thing or two and love the original trilogy), they should have made Episode I about Anakin's adolescence and romance with Padme...Episode II about his turning to the dark side...and Episode III about the rise of the Empire.

But that's just me. :)

I really don't care so long as Revenge of the Sith is good thematically and storywise (though I'm sure the dialogue and acting will leave something to be desired, as usual). I really do wish they would try a bit harder on the special effects. I mean, c'mon...they look like video game graphics...

I do suspect he'll give a better performance this time around though... Thank God.

But Natalie Portman? I wouldn't bet on it.

She was awful in Garden State...with the exception of a couple scenes. It all seemed fake to me. She doesn't ever seem to get into her character's mind...all the facial expressions and the way she uses inflection...ALWAYS the SAME. Ugh. So overrated.

I did like her in The Professional though.

after reading keving smiths review i realized that this is the payoff movie george had in mind, 5 lightsaber fights... not only dual wielding, but quadwielding!!??? wookies (notice both climaxes of the trilogies contain furry animals fighting...), there is no way this movie can suck unless the film gets stuck in the projector and setablaze...

between may 10th and may 19th i am gonna have to take so many heart pills...

Actually, I heard that the Wookie plotline does not tie in with the rest of the story at all. If that's true, it will be very annoying. Yes, I like my big furry Wookies :thumbsup, but I'd rather them fit in with what's going on a little better rather than just having them thrown in there because, well, they're Wookies...and everybody loves Wookies, right? :thumbsdow

These images are nothing in comparison to the 10 minutes of footage that Rick McCallum showed us at Celebration III. I had chills the entire time. Of course, the footage was without sound, so we didn't know what was being said, but in one scene, Obi goes to Padme and says, "All of the Jedi are dead." That was easy enough for me to make out. And from the spoiler pictures I've seen, that is the truth.

Thanks for putting a spoiler on that.... I really appreciate it.

I'm trying to avoid any info about this movie, because it looks sooo badass that I dont want it to be ruined in any way. I cant wait. What sucks is I wont be able to see it for like 2 weeks without a thousand people in the theater....

Well, if you didn't want to read spoilers, it would have been best not to look at this thread.

On the other hand, I promised myself that I wouldn't read anything about the movie until after I had seen it. Then came the plot summary, the previews, the interviews, and the script. It was like knowing where your Christmas gifts were hidden and not looking at them before Christmas. IT CAN'T BE DONE!!!:BANG

Ben talking to Luke in Episode IV

"A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned evil, helped the Emperor wipe out the Jedi Knights. He betrayed and murdered your father. Now the Jedi are all but exinct."

Or something to that effect.

I just read the comic adaption of Sith and Windu kicks some serious ass in a lightsabre fight with Palpatine, but then he turns his back and Anakin cuts his arm off. And at this point Anakin is still considered good. So Windu was basically stabbed in the back by his friend.

Cartoon Network aired these cartoons that take place in between Episode 2 and 3. Where the last episode in Volume 2 left off is where Episode 3 is going to be picked up

Palpatine is kidnapped by Grievous and there's a huge war going on. The opening scene of Ep 3 takes place in the galaxy.
