The front page story about Sharon (she's awesome) got me wondering about the Bama Works Seats. I know they auction them on DMB's website, but I'm just wondering how much the pair usually goes for? I'd like to try for Blossom, but $500 is my max, and I'm not sure if that's high enough.

FRONT row usually goes for more than $500 but sometimes you can score 2nd or 3rd rows for $500. Also when you are watching the auctions take place they are always for TWO seats, and they usually offer TWO seats for auction, so the first and second place bidders both win.

thanks for the info. i was looking to win a pair, and $500 a ticket is a bit much for me.

Front row pairs for Gorge for instance will be in the $1000 - $2000 range

This should give you an idea about how much has been spent for the Bama Works seats. Keep in mind that there are D&T auctions in there too, and those got realllly pricey. The front row pair I got for Riverbend last year was a bargain at $600. :D $500 might not get you anything though.

I've been putting $100 a month away for the past year in order to have some cash saved up for DMB this summer...... Bama Auctions will be my main target....but..... for the Gorge :(

Same here. I have a nice little stack of fifties just waiting to be thrown to charity for some kick ass seats. I however, will be aiming a little lower than the Gorge...those will get a little high...any other shows you would consider bidding for other than Gorge? You might have better luck there.

It'd be cool to spend a few hundred bucks and snag seats in the 3rd row for a show. That's close enough for me :)

thanks a lot for that link. looks like OH shows aren't too popular, which is what i figured. front row went for $600, but third went for $400. if i can get that, it would be great, even a little more than i was planning for front row - i mean it's for charity, so why not?

The most expensive Bama Works front row tickets I saw were $7900 for D+T NYC. The cheapest were around $425 (I can't remember the venue, though...I think it was Utah.)

That wasn't clear in reading your post, so I wanted to clarify.
This year, they are auctioning off 4 pair of front row tix for each show.... one pair for 2nd row, and one pair for 5th row, in most cases.

And yeah, instead of two SEATS I meant to say two SETS, good one ya!
To break it down there are tons of tickets available....
For example 3 night stint at the Gorge (only show I'm trying for)
N 1
- 4 pairs front row (8)
- 1 pair second row (2)
- 1 Pair third row (2)
(12 total)
N2 same (12)
N3 same (12)
So there are a total of 36 PRIME ASS seats up for auction, to be won by 18 winning bids!!!
As well the top 4 bids for front row seats in the auction win, so just because the top bidder bid $2000 if the 4th place bidder only bid up to $500, he gets tickets as well, and for much less. keep that in mind!

ran out of editing time so I must reply....
I'm not 100 % certain of this, but from the looks of things they dont equalize the top 4 bids down tot eh lowest of the 4 at the end of the auction. So the top 4 pay the price they bid up to. but I may be wrong, they may take the top 4 bids and then all 4 people pay the price of the lowest bid, i doubt it though.

It is the 4th highest bid that "wins" the front row auctions. So if I put my max bid in at 2,000, the next two people go up to 1,500, and the last person bids up to 1,200.... we all get the tix for 1,200.
The tough part is the fact that they keep extending the auctions, so you can't sneak in at the last minute and snag the tickets. If any bids are made in the final minutes, they automatically extend the auction for an additional 5 minutes or so. I was watching an auction the other day that went on for an additional 45 minutes after its initial closing time... and the final bid was raised by about $800 over that time. Its crazy.

Last year they evened out all of the winning bids. I had a bid of $800 for the Riverbend tickets I bid on and I only ended up paying $600. That auction had...two pairs of front row I think. So the other winning bidder must have had a high bid of $600.

Some of the comments are amusing. I liked this one:
"By far the best and worst moments of my life. The show was worth every penny, if not 10x that, and Dave did stare at me...but I also got tapped on the head with his guitar pick while looking at my watch...Totally missed it...Yes I'm bitter"
