I basically think that the debate is whether or not they'll keep going without her. ABC has been saying that S5 is supposed to be the end. Someone at one point said 80% certain. But, it's all contingent on how little the new cast members suck/are accepted by the audience. Slim to none I'd say - that they'll be accepted by the audience this season.

Few things:

I can see how Season 3 is shaping up to be a clusterfuck. Its disappointing to hear all of you say its slow. I feel like it has the possibility of being the most intriguing.

I don't like not knowing what's going on.

No way would Jack have been allowed to walk right into the CIA operations center the day he got out of NSC prison. That was resolved way too quick.

I really thought Jack had gone back to "work" for Sloane.

Sydney had no right to get that angry at Vaughn. At least that's how I feel on a personal level.

Going back to season 2:

Why is it that Syd can beat up countless professionaly security guards and goons, but almost gets killed by "Francie".

And no way would Sydney have talked about where the Server Farm was on the phone in front of "Francie", even if she did think it was actually Francie and even if she knew she was in the CIA.

But whatever. Still good.

I dunno, probably since she is so genetically modified and trained that she was built to withstand and hold off such force like Syd. Though you have to admit that was probably the best chick fight EVER!

It did rock. And Sydney shooting her 3 times was crazy. I feel like whenever someone fires more than 1 shot at someone, its about 20x more dramatic. Like BAM...

I meant that.

And I watched this thing called "The Story so Far" before season 3...apparently that was the longest chick fight in TV history. And the budget for a single episode of Alias is higher than a lot of movies that are produced.

Yea both of JJ's shows are damn expensive...Lost's pilot alone was 10 million dollars. I can't believe Disney has been willing to let Alias go on for so long being the money pinching company they are. Lost actually decided to save Disney money by moving the plane wreckage out of the picture after like 10 episodes. It was costing them too much just keeping the wreckage there in Hawaii. Though that show and DH are about to make Disney a ton of money here in 2 weeks when the DVDs come out. I have a feeling that is why Alias has been on because so they can get syndication and DVD sales. I know the Alias DVDs have sold extremely well.

Seriously...I had to really make some sacrafices on what TV shows I really wanted to buy. Right now I am committed to having all of the Simpsons, Friends, Alias, Lost, and Seinfeld. The West Wing and ER are ones I had to just say no to...though I did buy ER's first season because I had never seen it since I started watching during season 2.

Ya know, I'll be the first one to admit that Syd can be a self righteous bitch a lot of the time. However - I was ALL about that scene. A.) I thought it was an awesome scene. B.) Yeah - she didn't have a right to get that angry. BUT, shit sometimes people get fucking angry and take situational anger out on people.

I also love the part in some other episode where she tells him that it makes her insane when he patronizes her. They do so much sappy love stuff between the two of them, I like the anger. I think it also showed how much Vaughn really did care about her.

And y'all think the first part of Season 3 was slow?? I don't. I mean, not giving us answers yeah. But, I don't think it was all that slow. Haven't watched it in a really long time, of course.

Yea I haven't watched it since original airing so I thought it was very slow...I have yet to get the dvd set though hopefully i'll get it soon and I will definately give it another chance.

That makes sense. I think I felt the same way. I watched the DVDs last Winter Break though and I think it's better when you watch them all in a row. I liked it more than I remember feeling when they originally aired.

Prelude. :thumbsup Conscious is one of my favorite eps ever. And Remnants too.

I think it's because of all the breaks they had in the season.

It was a tad bit anticlimactic, however.

Conscious is one of my favorite eps ever.

I think it's the best episode of the last 2 seasons.

I'm glad they chose that one to do commentary for on the DVD.

Hey guys, I am a new Alias fan. I had always wanted to watch the show, but never did. This past June I rented the first disc of season one from Netflix and the rest is history. I was so hooked on this show from the first 10 minutes or so. I ended up watching (and buying) all four seasons in about 3 weeks. LOL. I have been having major withdrawal for the last couple months.

I kind of expected something to happen with her since I saw like a poster that had both her and Syd on it so I knew she was important...so I wasn't totally suprised..plus, it gave me reason not to like her, which I really was looking for. The writers did a good job of setting it up so it was like, "Oh, I guess she's good and I have to get used to her an Vaughn and grow to like her."

I really wasn't that surprised to find out she was evil. By that point, though, I felt like Abrams was making decisions on the fly, even while knowing that episodes are filmed in advance. Lauren was first advertised as a character we couldn't help but like (perhaps that was part of the plan), and her turn to evil seemed labored to me. The great love affair with Sark was silly as well. Tawdry sack-hopping? Sure. Deep relationship? No way.

And that last part has nothing to do with my Sark lust issues, either. :rolleyes

Well i've finished season 3. Interesting.

First of all, the whole Jennifer Garner with bangs thing just doesn't work. They make her look stupid.

The last episode was the best of the year, but it still fell flat.

The writing and continuity and contrived plots and everything this year just didn't work that well. It was like they took a year off. Too many people didn't die when shot 1,000 times. Too many people and things were mysteriously taken while being transported. (I swear, if you want to lose something in the CIA, move them from one building to another. They'll be sure to be ambushed along the way).

I dunno. What I liked about 1 and 2 was that while it was unrealistic entertainment, it still made sense along the confines of what was expected from the show. Season 3 seemed like they took a book out of 24, and shot the shit each episode without knowing what the overall endgame was for the rest of the episodes in the season.

It was still better than most TV anyway, so its not like i'm going to stop watching it. Its just, after the perfection of the first 2 seasons, I was disappointed.

If you want to ask how I feel about plotlines, go ahead. I'll save that for another night.

I don't necassarily mind the direction its taking though.

Before you start season 4, I should mention that the first episode of the season was in January and there was a new episode every week (w/ one exception) until the end of the season.

Just giving you a bit of perspective.

I will go ahead and warn you that probably the first 8 episodes of Season 4 (minus the premiere) are basically stand alone episodes because they were trying to lure new people into the show since it followed Lost last season. It worked because the viewership of the show went up 20% on the season. But just so you know there are little to no continuity from episode to episode in those first 8 episodes so don't get too frustrated with it because the final half of the season really is one crazy ride.

I think that season 2 was definately better than season 3, but season 2 isn't as good the scond time around. There are things like Sloane's reaction to the circumstancs surrounding his wife's death that don't make sense when you know she is alive.

The problem with season 3 was an overall lack of focus and direction.
I think Alias is just one of those shows that you can't watch multiple times. Unless you are watching it with someone who hasn't seen it yet. If that makes sense.

Yea that makes sense...all the surprise element is gone because you know what's going to happen. I do like watching it multiple times though because there is a lot of the Rambaldi stuff to this day that I still have yet to really figure out. I think if I went back and watched it now after everything that has come out in season 4 that there would be more sense made about things.

Well i've finished season 3. Interesting.

First of all, the whole Jennifer Garner with bangs thing just doesn't work. They make her look stupid.

It was still better than most TV anyway, so its not like i'm going to stop watching it. Its just, after the perfection of the first 2 seasons, I was disappointed.

If you want to ask how I feel about plotlines, go ahead. I'll save that for another night.

I don't necassarily mind the direction its taking though.

Agreed. Word to all of that. I will say that I will have to watch Season 4 again before I can say what I think of it. There is better continuity in Season 4 but the stand alone episodes pissed me the hell off.

And it should be noted that they filmed those first 6 or so eps of Season 4 in a different order than they AIRED them. I believe. At least, spoilers came out about the names and writers/directors of Season 4 episodes last fall. By January when they aired - the orders had switched. :rolleyes

Also, word to Blowback sucking ASS.

I was spoiled on when and how Lauren turned evil. :rolleyes

Lost doesn't do a good job with working with keeping background objects that shouldn't be in a scene out of a scene and such. I've seen several scenes where there have been boats on the horizon in the shots...Lost my ass :rolleyes

Yea they had to remove the entire crash fuselage that they flew over from the mainland. It was costing them a million dollars an episode just to have it sitting on the beach. So they made it so that the "tide" was coming in and washing away the fuselage so they moved down beach.

This was my 3rd year at the Gorge! And the best concert weekend of my life. Last year I really thought I'd peaked myself out at Central Park the year before but now I know that isn't true. I'm still geeking out, apparently! :)

Yea in that season 3 special "The Story So Far" he says basically he was just writing a Felicity script one day and said, "Wait a minute..wouldn't it be cool if she was a spy?" And then he brainstormed how she would cope with a home life and a spy life etc..and the rest is history.

Yeah - and it depends on whether or not you believe it is real. See, after she reverses the spell, she wakes up in bed the morning after casting the spell and she'd had a crazy high fever and wouldn't wake up and everyone was freaking out about her. But there was like 6 episodes or something in between.

JJ, I read, had always wanted to do something with time travel and that was his chance to do it. :lol Odd.

Basically - here's my new theory.
Well, not on Lena Ausiello vs. Lena Krist-Twit thing because I haven't kept up with the Twit lately and I dunno when the last time she said Lena would be back was. But that'll change 90 times from now to series finale time. Just cuz Lena's filming a movie in September doesn't mean she can't be around in March to film for a finale. Season 4 we went back and forth 5 times between whether she was dead or not, etc.

So........

If ABC wanted to generate publicity for this show and get viewers to tune in just for the hype (like we need viewers like that) especially considering the switch to Thursday nights meaning we lose a HUGE lead in (LOST) -------- why not stir up some shit?? And who would they have break the news who has been KNOWN to give foilers before because the network wanted her to??

I dunno. I mean, when it all started coming out, one of my friends talked to three spoiler sources herself and they all told her it was really happening even though they wouldn't tell everyone publically. One of these sources is so flaming pissed, she is being a total bitch about it. We'll all be here like crazy...the best is right after the show airs. That's the best. Almost a month now till the premiere of Lost...think you can do it?
Bah, I'm not gonna be able to post until about 5 hours after the show initially airs. Not only am I on the west coast, but I gotta tape it and watch it later because of Survivor
