I don't see how anyone can judge the new girl after only a few seconds of screen time

I don't know that anyone is judging HER as an actress. I've only ever seen her in one episode of another show. I'm sure she's perfectly fine in that respect.

I just personally am judging the relevancy of adding her to the cast. I kinda resent it. I didn't care about Nadia. I won't care about Rachel. I actually cared more about Lauren because I hated her, but I liked hating her. I'd rather hate someone than not give a shit. Add characters that further the already-in-progress storylines, like this Renne Rien. I'm not sure Rachel and this new male agent will add that much to what's going on. If they end up doing so, great. I guess.

Yea I only saw one article in the san francisco chronicle about it on the brink...it was in the same article as the Arrested Development mention.

well his bio is no longer listed in the alias cast section on abc site.

I was really hoping that his death was jack's extraction to keep him underground and protect him from this new group.

I guess we'll see. :(

There was a press release last week after the episode, it's a few pages back...basically says he is still apart of the Alias cast but won't be on an episode anytime soon...so basically he's still alive.

Anyway, Its going to be interesting seeing the new Agents. I watched the chick in that show The Insider ( or something like that) which got cancelled after a few episodes. I heard she was going to be on Alias, but I didn't know what her role would be.

My general problem, I suppose, was that enough of the fundamental questions posed by the beginning of the show were answered. SD6 is gone, Syd is with Vaughn, Syd knows about her mom. Granted, the Rambaldi thing is still out there, but (for me), the new questions that are being asked aren't as compelling as the first ones were.

Opinion, that's all. Alias is still event television for me.

Oh I think Mia is a much better actress than Melissa George. I think Mia had shit to work with from the scripts. It was all "Hey you, cry, run, shoot a gun, or look softly at Syd and smile like you really love her while you ask her if you should pick up toothpaste when you go to the store." Certainly the others on the show do more with the scripts they're given though. Nadia was unnecessary too. More unnecessary than Lauren, since she came after. One of those twists would have been alright but not both back to back.

I'd like to say that I hope there is no more "that's the thing about pregnancy, hormones. Whew." crap. Jen did a good job with that but I just don't think the jokes are necessary. We get it, she's pregnant. Ha ha pregnant women are craaaaazy - :rolleyes

And I'm sorry - I'm not going to get into the "oooh look, I'm a new rebel agent with an attitude...someone soften me" thing that Thomas Grace has going on. I could not give a shit less.

Renee is totally awesome though.

I'd guess it's probably because the DVDs come out for Season 4 soon....people have no chance to see Season 4 prior to/around the same time as the start of S5. We have two stations airing it and the other started with S1.

We were talking about the last season of The Practice once and I did watch a lot of that show and some of the last season but I never fully changed over to Boston Legal. Though I've always really loved David Kelley shows.

Ausiello: Well, as you might expect, it's complicated. Here's what I've been told from a reliable source close to the situation. Shortly after Vartan and J.Ga's big split, Vartan allegedly made it known that he wouldn't be terribly upset if Vaughn were to get whacked while on assignment. TPTB, in turn, made it known that Vartan had a contract to honor and, well, he better suck it up and be a professional. Cut to 2005: Producers, looking for a way to revitalize the show and give Sydney a personal mission in Alias' final season, finally granted Vartan his wish. There was just one problem: Vartan was once again loving his job and didn't want to go. But the writing was already on the wall, albeit with the presumption that Vartan would return later in the season either as Vaughn, Vaughn's ghost or someone else altogether. And that brings us to the second problem. For some unknown reason, producers never got Vartan to sign off on that return engagement before jettisoning him, resulting in the stalemate we have now. The good news is that the odds are still leaning in the favor of his returning before year's end — despite the fact that he just landed a movie in Australia. Anyway, that's the poop. I thought they were rumors, that she was going to be working for SD-6 II. In a way, I wish she'd be evil and that her whole infiltration of the CIA is an elaborate hoax. But that would be recycling Lauren. Also, it would totally negate these scenes where she's at her office totally about to cry like a baby.

No it does...and it has become a formula...nothing against the grain. Though it hasn't quite become CSI type formula where every week is a new crime. At least so far they are still tracking down this guy that shot Vaughn.

It still is better than most any other crap on TV...however much we criticize it still has that spy family quality we all know and love.

Um...I don't remember her calling Sark anything but Sark. The names change from time to time. It used to be a lot of SpyBarbie, SpyDaddy, SpyMommy. Now I think it's "Lena FUCKING Olin." :lol Sloane is Uncle Inappropriate. Weiss is just Agent Sean (Felicity character). Lauren is Whoren. She used to just make fun of Francie and Will for being stupid blind idiots and Will for having really bad hair there for a while. Maybe she coined Francinator - don't remember.

Yeah, I guess so. :twak Teasing. Kidding. Cuz really, you're right - there has to be more. I mean, I keep thinking "Okay, they will have some wacky twists and turns." For one, with the preview/teaser Gordo finds out she's still alive and that will create some kind of drama. I think Amy Acker will be around for a while so maybe they'll be trying to track her down and kill her and she'll be doing CIA missions the whole time. They can't make her a double right - Gordo would not buy that, would he? I guess I think that if they take the storyline somewhere new and creative, I'll enjoy it even if I don't start really caring about her or Thomas.

The last time I tried to keep the faith in these writers they took a lame way out of the missing two years and decided to give Lauren a conscience after she was revealed as evil. Two big mistakes, in my opinion. But I still enjoyed everything for the most part.

I just hope they don't make another mistake and if I feel they do, I hope I can still enjoy everything. It's probably just that last night was a huge transition point in the show and I'm uneasy about it, that's all.

Man, I can't believe I didn't check in with this thread until now. I am absolutely HOOKED on this show. I got introduced to the show while I was deployed to Iraq. Entertainment can be a scarce thing there so I took the advice of a coworker and checked out the first season of Alias on DVD. I was immediately addcited. I grew up being a big fan of James Bond flicks and the whole spy/espionage genre. This show had everything: exoctic international locales, cool high tech gadgetry, jam packed action, a beautiful lead character wearing different sexy outfits speaking different sexy accents each episode, and more importantly a cast of extremely talented actors. I stormed through the first season before diving right into seasons two and three. I'm gladded to see that there are plenty of others that share this same feeling. After downloading and watching the fourth season and first three episodes of the current season I'll start to tune in on a weekly basis. Now about the show's storyline. I think that the man who was in the cryogenic chamber is Vaughn's father. Yeah, I know he found out last season that his father is in fact dead despite what he was lead to believe. But we all know this show has plenty of twists and half exposed revelations.

Though, at least she isn't actually an agent and was a tech so it's much more believeable but I'd still think she'd be trained somewhat to be prepared for capture and stuff. Especially if it is this horrible super duper secret organization. The secretest of all secret organizations. I didn't even start until November and the only reason I really made time is because I had two long drives around the holidays with family and needed entertainment. I think I stopped after the one where Sloane is (not)executed and I still haven't watched at least one of the commentaries. Maybe two.

Yea i just opened it up audio commentaries on APO Part 1 and 2 with JJ, Jen, and Ken Olin, also commentary on "Ice" and "Nocturne" with those involved but no Jen or JJ. Looks like a Chat with Jen, "Meet Mia", Guest Stars of Season 4, Bloopers, Deleted Scenes, Director's Diary, Marshall's World, and Anatomy of a Scene. So good bonus stuff all around it looks like.

Oh and the cover is cool, on the front is Syd and Nadia and then when you take off the sleeve it reveals Jack and Sloane standing behind the profiles of their daughters. Kind of cool I thought.
