Jack: She does.
Sydney: Dad...
Jack: I'll take care of it.
Cut to monk delivering news to father?

Does that mean what I think it means? It wasn't Irina? It was Syd and Jack the whole time?

What did Sloane say on the phone to the guy he was talking towards the end of the first episode...I had a phone call for a second and missed that part. I assume it was the guy that he made a deal with at the beginning of the season to help Nadia?

Talula62
04-20-2006, 12:13 AM
Oh hell yeah. That was definitely macked outta my nuts!!!

At first I heard British accent and thought it was Sark. No. Yeah, it was The Bruce from Braveheart - the guy who he met on the docks one day who told him that they owned him, if he wanted to save Nadia. Or the other guy who was British. Yeah, it was a Prophet 5 guy.

Basically what was said above. It was a short clip. The guy told Sloane not to do something like that again because they owned him, and if he wanted to save Nadia

Do you mean originally, Derek? It was all just more of the same. We have the cure.... you must do what we say.... give us the information we want... only then will your daughter recover... and shit like that.

Go watch some of The L Word and it might knock the Mandy out of you. :lol But I hear you. I've seen only part of the pilot of 24 and Kelly still reminds me of Mandy. P.S. Mia Kirshner (Mandy) is a much better actress. Just had to throw that in there.

Renee Reinne is on The L Word now too. Mia Kirshner's girlfriend... go figure.

Okay, so that episode kicked ass. It felt like the old Alias again!

Jack going into that boardroom and laying down his shit was so awesome. He is such a badass.

Favorite line of the show - Marshall: "I play a lot of Sudoku."

So does Vaughn being alive mean that Jack and Sid faked his death, or that he did it on his own, or that Prophet 5 did it, or what??????

So many other questions that I could ask. So excited. If the season finishes like this, so sad to see Alias go.

They should do another season and have it cover when Sidney was working as a double for the Covenant.

Talula62

With the conversation Jack and Syd had on the place two seconds before they cut to Vaughn getting the news about the baby.... they were totally behind it. Not the shooting, though. I think like we'd suspected they didn't plan the shooting or anything but picked up after that to fake his death.

So much good stuff. I love anytime Jack beats the shit out of anyone. And I thought for a moment the phone voice might be Sark, but so such luck.

Wow Alias actually did good numbers the other night and actually gained viewers during the telecast:

From ABC: The 2-hour return of Alias attracted 7.5 million viewers and a 2.7 rating, 8 share among Adults 18-49. Despite facing Fox’s American Idol at 9pm, the Touchstone-produced drama posted its highest Adults 18-49 delivery this season, while drawing its largest audience since its season premiere. Throughout the course of its telecast, Alias grew by 1.3 million viewers and by 35% among Adults 18-49 from its first half-hour to its final half-hour. In its regular 8-9pm time period, Alias improved the time period in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 compared to ABC’s performance in the hour since Fox’s American Idol premiered in January. In its return telecast, Alias was up by 7% in viewers and by 17% in young adults compared to its averages this season. "

Wow good call...i bet that's what they are going to do. This whole Syd and Jack knowing all along about Vaughn is bothering me. The fact that they had intimate moments together without anyone around acting like he was dead contradicts all this. Unless if they prove that it was imperative that they act like that because they were being bugged, followed, spied on etc...then i'm not buying. They better have a good reason for that and not be a massive hold in the plot like many other Alias mysteries still left unsoloved.

Overall I enjoyed the episode alot. Will being back was so great and he had some great lines in there.

Do you mean that Jack and Syd had intimate moments together without anyone around? Do you think it could all be explained by her being upset that Vaughn was just gone while she was pregnant and she missed him?

Wasn't the only scene in the hospital with Syd and Jack before Vaughn flatlined? Like, when he was still in surgery and Jack was lecturing her about running off to find Vaughn when he was involved with this most wanted woman and Syd's like, yeah, I know he's involved with Elodie and then she tells Jack she's pregnant and then Jack says he will do whatever it takes to help Vaughn and her and the baby, or something?

Other people are raising the same issue though. I haven't really read much about it but I know there was one scene where before Jack said he'd go with her to her next doctor's appointment, she was all like "I don't think I can do this. It's not fair, he should be here" and I guess we have to assume she just missed him and hated being pregnant without him being around, etc. Ah well no matter. I can't wait to see Vaughn again though.

I know. Way too many deaths tonight. My brain is full of carnage. It's sorta weird.

I expected someone to die tonight and during the ep I started wondering if Rene would survive the series. But I had decided that Nadia was going to survive the series. Oops. Maybe that's good news for Jack. It wouldn't surprise me if we had a bit of a bloodbath on our hands in the next few weeks.

NOOOO JACK CAN'T DIE!

Talula62
05-04-2006, 02:02 AM
Well, I was debating with some friends the other day about who is like destined to die. We thought Nadia would be too obvious because we thought that if she died, it'd be because Anna killed her. Oops.

Then we thought Irina or Jack heroically dying could be a good way to end the series but that we really didn't want it to happen and if we had to choose between them, we'd choose Irina to die. It just wouldn't surprise me if someone else died and we cried and cried and then had a happy Syd-centered ending. Cuz, if we get happy, we'll surely get a good fat dosage of sad along with it, right? Who knows. We got on a roll about the show. :lol

They should've had Nadia dead and Sloane evil a long time ago. We need him to be evil. This nice Sloane thing just doesn't stick. But it would make sense that a daughter could make him question everything, but it also makes sense that her death would cause him to go evil again. He can justify her as a sacrifice to the cause, feel less blame, feel chosen again, whatever. Makes a helluva lot more sense to me than "Bang you're dead... just kidding!" "This is Sydney...no this is Sydney! Haha, gotcha!" "Hi, I'm a villan from Season 1, remember me?" "Rambaldi wants eternal life... no he wants people to be red-eyed ZOMBIES" and Dixon's corn rows.

Yea she really should have died at the end of last season but at the time it happened last season they didn't know this season would be the last so I think it's just one of those things that they were pressed for time to wrap it up.

So I went to go see MI:3 and I have to say the whole thing just ran like an episode of Alias. Everything from the beginning with the climax of the thing starting first (just like in Alias' pilot episode) to the music (though the music also had touches of Lost too with the extended piano solos). It was pretty good though. Good to see Greg Grunberg.

Jennifer Garner leaves APO and joins the CTU

Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) has joined the cast of Universal Pictures' The Kingdom, the Peter Berg-directed terrorism film that's set to get under way this summer, reports Variety.

The film, which will also star Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner, follows a team of American counterterrorism agents who go to a hostile Middle Eastern country after a bombing attack against Americans there.

Written by Matthew Michael Carnahan, the film is being produced by Michael Mann and Scott Stuber. Mary Parent and Film 44's John Cameron and Sarah Aubrey executive produce.

Hey all, I read a big spoiler about the Alias finale. Turns out the Rimbaldi device is a gateway to Purgatory, Sidney and everyone else is stuck there, so everything they do in the show is about possibly redeeming themselves for past mistakes.

That's what I read. I swear. :rolleyes

So the last episode lost me a bit.

Why make this big huge deal about Anna Espinosa becoming a clone Sydney, and then just kill her off? It seems like the last episode was just a big waste of time, considering that it was one of the final three episodes. Its stupid shit like this that made a great show suck. Pick a storyline and stick to it. It was a dumb idea anyway. I just hope that they are actually going somewhere with it. Please God.

I think they would have spread it out more if they had a 22 episode season instead of 17. They had to wrap shit up quickly.

Talula62

Yeah. Once the season was shortened, they had to scramble. They wanted to do even more Rambaldi stuff, JJ said, and - well the network monkeys are responsible for squishing that down more.

She didn't really talk about anything important. Charlie was egging her on because she's a red sox fan now because of Affleck and Charlie is an Orioles fan. They talked about the show ending and how she and Victor Garber were in denial the last day until Affleck called her and then it hit her it was ending and she broke down. Then they played a clip and then they talked about if she was going to continue movies or stay a mom and she wasn't really sure. Finally she talked about her visit with Reese Witherspoon to New Orleans last week. That's about it.

There was some crazy theories last year that Lost was a secret spinoff of Alias and that possibly the island was a secret CIA experiment gone wrong. Also on Alias, there was an Oceanic Airlines reference and Driveshaft reference in a few episodes last season. So they do exist in the same universe at least but now with what we know I doubt it.

I liked the episode, but they threw too much at us and didn't answer enough.

I clearly remember Sloane beating a man to death in the 4th season, telling him that Rambaldi's end game was NOT living forever. Something to the effect of "You simple minded debutant! It is so much more than that!" So, was that all a lie? Didn't they say at one point that his end game was peace? Or was it making people zombies? I don't get it.

Also, what was the point of the nukes? Why did Irina need the nukes? Also, is she not dead, because she had the horizon?

I did like that Sloane was trapped for eternity. How would you spend eternity if you were trapped in a cave? I was thinking you could count until you didn't know what number came next, or you could sing 1 Billion Bottles Of Beer On The Wall.

And the way that Jack died was priceless. One of the main characters HAD to die (Tom doesn't count), and the way that Jack took out Sloan was just perfect.

So yeah. Goodbye, Alias. I'll miss you.

Irina wasn't bathed in The Horizon juice like Sloane was - he fell over into it when he was shot. So she's dead, I think. But come on - that's the perfect type of question for Alias to leave us with. Dead or not dead? I think it's awesome.

As far as Sloane's rage against that poor man in Season 4, I never thought it wasn't immortality, just cuz he said that then. I thought it was just a defense to make him feel better about what he was pursuing. To him, it was bigger than immortality because the process of getting to that point was so ridiculous and time consuming and required him to chose it over everyone else. Like a dedication to the pursuit of Rambaldi makes the endgame more than just an outcome. I dunno.... if you take it philosophical, maybe it makes more sense? :lol

The nukes I'm not sure about. I figure she wanted to rebuild a world where she was in power or she could be ultimately behind everything. Taking out two superpowers would increase her power? Would've been nice for them to be a bit more explicit than that but I see Irina as having always been an enigma. We never really fully understood anything about her so I feel like it's fitting.

The way I saw it, Rambaldi's endgame was not just immortality, it was to rule the world forever. Irina was the Chosen One in the prophecy, she was going to take out the greatest superpower and rule the world forever with the Horizon, and Syd stopped her.

And Jack's death is probably my favorite TV death of all time. "You beat death, Sloane, but you couldn't beat me.".

I saw these questions listed on E! that further explains some questions from the finale:

Q: In the finale, did Irina say, "Rambaldi is alive," "Rambaldi is love" or Rambaldi "is life"?
A: "Rambaldi is life...Through him we can live forever."

Q: What was the horizon?
A: The horizon was the Rambaldi-designed glass sphere that activated the pedestal in his tomb and then received the liquid from the hovering red ball.

Lena OlinQ: Did Irina fall on the sphere? In the final shot, one hand was bent behind her back after she fell. Could she have squished the ball but then have been resurrected by it? It did take a while to work on Sloane.
A: No, the ball rolled away, presumably recovered by Syd, who would have had it destroyed.

Q: Given the actions of Nadia at the end of the show, was she truly just a figment of Sloane's imagination/conscience?
A: She was his conscience. I think killing Nadia--whom he deeply loved--caused some sort of emotional/psychotic rift for Sloane.

Q: Is Sloane going to live forever under a rock, or is he eventually going to die?
A: Sloane is immortal, living forever buried 200 feet beneath the earth.

Hey everyone! I am new to this website, and I came upon this thread, which is one of my favorite shows ever! Unfortunately, I am just starting from pretty much the beginning by renting the dvds and moving up with that. I am only in the fourth season, but I was just missing some pieces about the Arvin Sloane that is framing the real Arvin Sloane. What's going on with that?

Jack Bristow: #3 TV Dad of all-time:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13202874/

There were a lot of things wrong with "Alias" over the years. A lot of things. But one of the things the show always had going for it was the spectacular Jack Bristow (Victor Garber), who always seemed destined to give his life for his daughter Sydney in one way or another -- and who eventually did. Jack made a few mistakes along the way in trying to watch over Sydney without smothering her, but he backed her up in traditional and nontraditional senses. Besides, what's better than being able to say your dad is a spy?

I am slightly saddened by the fact that Macked Outta My Nutz isn't on the "What's your favorite Ants catch phrase" poll. It's like our little secret.

I do lose it everytime Beef pwns someone though.

Oh and [on topic] Alias is super cool. Last night I watched the one where Sloane took Nadia down come hole in the ground and made her walk on a circular stained glass floor window to get the Sphere of Life but she wouldn't do it.

Then I thought, OMGWTFBBQ, there was actually continuity in the finale and they didn't just pull The Sphere of Life out of their asses? Wow. It actually made me want to watch Season 4 to figure out how that all worked up to the end. But I got tired instead and went to bed.

I just saw a promo for Victor Garber's new show. Eammon Walker, who played Kareem Said on Oz, is in it along with Jack from Dawson's Creek. I got burned out on lawyer shows a LONG time ago but I will have to five this one a try.

I've seen a bunch of previews for this, I'll definitely check it out.

Also, I just saw a preview for Greg Grunberg's new show, Heroes. It looks pretty sweet.

Heroes has a great premise I think. Sounds very similar to Unbreakable which I love, I can't wait for it. I don't think i'll give Garber's show a chance though...Boston Legal is the only lawyer show I watch and only because it's more comical and doesn't take it self so seriously like other lawyer shows.

I'll watch Victor no matter what he's in. Heroes on the other hand... the premise doesn't much interest me but I might have to give it a shot just for GG.

Ok I just updated the "Coming Attractions" thread with this, but thought what the hell I'll come share it for you JJ-heads too :evil

Well, first of all if you don't already know, Abrams is involved in a 'rebooting' of the whole STAR TREK film franchise, a new movie that will esentially be a prequel, showing James T. Kirk's first days in the academy (though I forget now if JJ's actually directing, or just in a writer/producer capacity). But today's news was that he's looking at Matt Damon to play the part of the young Kirk, and William Shatner's already given his thumbs up to plan.

DUDE, I had no idea that anyone was wanting to get Star Trek films going again, particularly JJ. I had thought that this series was dead and gone.

I found the pilot for Greg Grunberg's new series Heroes on Bitemetv...even though he isn't in the first half of the pilot which is all that is out right now, the series looks promising. It is similar to Lost with a "diverse" cast but has the whole regular people becoming superhero origin story like Unbreakable and X-Men.

Episodes 8 through the end was a good, solid run. 9, 10, and 11 were awesome. (The one before the winter hiatus and the two just after.) Leading up to 8 was slow but it might not be so slow watching back to back.

The answer is yes. It's no Season 1 or 2 but it's better than Season 5. What a snooze that seemed to be.

Now Heroes' pilot was pretty damn good, too bad Weiss wasn't in the first half though I did see him in a preview clip on one of those preshow entertainment things before I saw Snakes on a Plane the other day. He was talking about the show.
