If I remember, in one of the promo's in season 3, they took a quote from Sloan complettely out of context so that he said Syd was his daughter. The general fan community didn't like it, but it was just the writers toying with us.

wow. so I avoided this thread sucessfully for a week only to backread now and realize you were talking about episodes past all this time.

and I agree with whoever said it that there was more chemistry between vaughn and the nurse than there is between him and syd. I think they are downplaying the whole romance too much.

I too wonder about the baby. I have season one on DVD I wonder how many things they revealed that would make more sense now that i know how it is now.

I also thought at the beginning that syd was Sloan's daughter. And I wish that the actress that played her mother would have come back. I think it was a little challenging for them to write her out of the script.

well i finally finished the first season, and wow, I couldn't belive that freakin Asian guy came back in the last episode, Will got him good though, and I didn't think they were going to introduce Sydney's mom so quick, I mean there are still 2 more seasons, I can't imagine the storylines, and now Dixon knows so I'm thinking he'll become a double agent too? or maybe he reports sydney??

yeah but even though I know it felt good for him to talk about it, I got the feeling he did that mainly because he knew it would get her to trust him so that she would open up to him. Plus, he knew Sydney was listening...I dunno. I'm still a newbie, I need to watch more episodes to REALLY know

Well, I think the Vaughn's guilt is going to be an obstacle for them. Realistically, He did love Lauren at some point and then it's like, wow, she turns out to be evil so all that time he could have been with Syd, who he really loves. So there's guilt about killing Lauren and about really devastating Syd with everything that happened with Lauren before he killed her.

So, I think the connection between him and the nurse chick was there because he had an excuse to talk about Lauren, which he really does actually need to do. So, I think he can't talk to Syd about it now because it's just going to make him feel worse because it will be painful for her and he's be hurting her by talking about it.

The chemistry is there but their relationship is really more complex when you stop to think about it - or, say, write about it on a message board - than they are taking time to show.

Nah. If you read an ep description at ABC or TV Guide or whatever, it'll say what is actually wrong with her. I am really looking forward to this episode. I think it'll be like Conscious - which was just a really frickin good episode. With the dream doctor and the plastic hanging sheets and Syd was fighting Lauren but then fought herself.

Anyway - tonight bored me. I mean, kudos to Drew Goddard, who wrote it, for inserting some old shit in there for continuity - Irina's KGB code books, Santa Barbara - that was cool. I was feeling Syd. I was feeling Vaughn. I was feeling the Santa Barbara story. But I think the chemistry really was lacking for this ep. Maybe that was shot right after they broke up or something.

But I'm tired of not feeling overwhelming, unbearable suspense. That's what made this show so damn good. Not that it's bad now but it's not knocking me out of my chair like S2 was. Ah well.

So my parents have 2 tvs. one huge one and one normal size one. They both have Satellite DVRs on them. I watch 1 show a week and no i'm not exaggerating. I work two jobs and don't have time to follow TV. that and I don't really care to.

Anyway my mother had set up alias to record on the small tv and west wing on the big one. I asked my dad to switch it because I wanted to watch Alias on the big tv. It recorded fine. The next week I come home and it was recorded on the little tv. My mom decided that she wanted to record west wing on the big tv since that's her show. I told her that that was bull shit and I was pissed. But whatever.

So I come home last night about quarter to 10 and the west wing is on the small TV where Alias is supposed to be recording.

I was like "why is the west wing playing on that tv"
mom: "someone erased the timers"
me: that's bullshit no one would erase the timers. you just didn't set them up right

she swears that she did but the woman barely knows how to use the remotes.

So in summary, the one show a week that i watch wasn't recorded. she said that there was another show being recorded on the big TV so she decided to record the west wing on the small one.

what a selfish bitch.

what pisses me off even more is that I have my own tivo and it was set up on my tv at my own house and ever since i moved back home I don't have any rights to any to any TVs. Such a load of crap.

And, it's not that I mean the episodes themselves aren't suspenseful because they are to some extent. But, they aren't surprising. I mean, there were times in Season 2 that I was like shouting at the TV because what was happening was so insane. I miss the feeling that something is going on that I can't figure out. But yeah, I think the next ep will be much better on that. Let's hope.

So, last night I took my brother to a Lakers game and as we were driving through downtown, I was pointing out all the locations where some famous Alias scenes were filmed(rooftop in season 2 finale for example).

I think lots of people thought Phase One went too fast - I mean the actual episode - but it's got one of the best scenes EVER in it. With Syd and Dixon. Wow. And it's just jawdropping all over the place. Can't wait till you get there Paula. The one right after that one is one of my favorites too - with Ethan Hawke - and then the scene with "God put a smile upon your face" playing in the background.

It's beautiful--mostly set in the eastern European asylum. Very gray. Later in the safehouse it's only firelit.

Also, John Hannah has some serious sex appeal.

I was thinking about this season, and I came to the conclusion that someone at ABC really forced them to dumb this season down in order to make it more accesible for newer viewers, particularly the "Lost" audience.

Hopefully, it will get back to being good soon. I'm waiting for that twist that leaves me sitting in front of my TV dumbfounded at the end of the show.

Well, Vartan has at least twice in the past during interviews referred to his character being on the brink and like "i dunno. he might not make it this time." He said that about the S3 finale in its original version - it was not going to end the way it did but JJ changed it last minute - and then Jen followed up with an eyeroll and a "you're so dramatic" or something. I think MV likes to drive people nuts about the possibility of him getting killed.

The thing with Ben and Jen is that they became very good friends working on Daredevil - he was with JLo then or was just hooking up with her or whatever. And she's said they stayed good friends ever since. So, I can understand that to some extent. I mean, it makes more sense than her meeting him in a club. He has this whole, "I'm really a good kid but I can't really get my shit together" vibe that good girls like Jen end up being drawn to. That's what I think anyway. I mean, there must be some reason he pulls in the ass that he pulls in.

I think the relationship is important, and I'd be upset if Vaughn got killed, but it would re-emphasize the fact that anything can happen in the world of Alias. I hate the fact that the show has now become Syd going undercover, being discovered and then being rescued at the last second. One of the things I liked about season 1 is that things would go wrong, like the Badenweiler op.

I think the relationship is important, and I'd be upset if Vaughn got killed, but it would re-emphasize the fact that anything can happen in the world of Alias. I hate the fact that the show has now become Syd going undercover, being discovered and then being rescued at the last second. One of the things I liked about season 1 is that things would go wrong, like the Badenweiler op.

Agreed. Jaw dropping moments are the bread and butter of the show. I love the new season, but it seems a little labored. I say, kill off Vaughn and drive Syd into the arms of...Sark.

Marshall finds the code in the ink of a period within an ellipsis. After magnifying it, he sees that it contains a protocol related to one of Irinas operatives, codename Sentinel. Jack says Sentinel is a dead end, a deceased agent. Jack gives the book to Alexi, who says he hasn't heard from Irina a long time. He also says he has an aircraft waiting to extract Syd and Vaughn.

And Privately, Jack says his suspicions regarding Sentinel are accurate, and the Russians are searching for Irina Derevko. Sloane says they'll have to move up their timetable.

Being a fan of both Lost and Alias I visit both fan communities reading about possible theories concerning both shows. Anyways here is a theory that is extremely far fetched but would be incredibly brilliant if pulled off correctly.

What if Lost and Alias were somehow interconnected in the same universe and over time in a very subtle way these two universes would begin to merge? Not by having Sydney Bristow end up on the island immediately but say the survivors on the island say find a Rambaldi artifact and they don't know what it is and then cut to Alias and they are looking for this exact same artifact. Or maybe the survivors on Lost are apart of an overall CIA experiment. I don't know how it would all go down but this idea just intrigued me because something like that has never been done on TV before having one series be a spinoff of another series without the audience knowing that this is actually a spinoff of that said series.

(The only drawback to this would be that both Terry O'Quinn and Greg Grunberg are/were on both series. Although it could be pulled off if Lost takes place in the future.)

I watched X-files off and on but never really got in to it. The movie was good though.

See that Liberty Village episode had alot of similarities to Lost. And then last weeks Alias episode with the hallucinations was very similar to the hallucinaginic thing on Lost. See there are just too many commonalities between these two series now.

Another thing I saw was that the theme of being conned or conning someone shows up in almost all the pasts of the characters on Lost. Sawyer, Kate, and now even Charlie with this past weeks episode did some sort of 'con' to get people to do something. Which would explain that maybe all these people on this island are here for a reason.

O'quinn's character's name on Lost is John Locke.

Yea I agree Lost did have a lull there after the pregnant chick was captured and taken away and then nothing was done until this past episode when she was found. Which this past one was a great episode by the way. But Alias is in a rut right now too and I have not liked this new season so far save for the premiere episode. But these connections between the two have interested me quite a lot and i think I will begin to pay more attention.

Ehhh - I don't really buy it. I mean, since Season 2 ended and she decided not to come back, they've been trying to get her in any way shape or form. So the whole "oh no, I'd totally come back for two episodes or something" seems like bullshit to me. They were trying to do exactly that for the end of Season 3.

Either she's trying not to look like a bad guy, she's trying to do good publicity for the show - particularly because Season 2 is just now airing in Sweden, where she was giving that interview while she was there filming a movie - or this is all a ridiculously elaborate plot concocted by JJ to get her to agree to come back by killing her off. Except she's been saying for over a year now that he should close the character's storyline.

The only way I think it would work to have her back for only 2 eps is if it were flashbacks showing us what happened to her, why she's dead. If they did that, I'd be all for it. That is the only way to get closure, so maybe if she's for closure and JJ is for the ratings that would come with getting her back for two eps - maybe I buy it. But, that's assuming a lot. :)
