Like I said before, it's not that hard to play. It's really fun, cuz it sounds so cool. The fingerings are the same as a normal guitar; just don't try any tab parts out (LIOG), cuz they won't sound right.

The ONLY thing that's different is that your hand needs to be a bit stronger because of the extra string tension you have to deal with.
By the way, Dave really should try playing Billies on a 12-string, it sounds awesome.

not really...
at a basic level, its not that tough. Just being able to play it is just as hard as 6 string guitar. Its not like once you master 6 string, you go on to 12, its not like that at all.

the hardest part about playing a 12 string is tuning it

The top 4 strings are the same as a six string, just an octave higher, and the B & E strings are just the exact same tuning. So its the same tuning:
E
A
D
G
B
E

I like writing it as
Ee Aa Dd Gg bb ee
EDIT: I should mention that I string my 12 string a little differenly than "normal." I put the thicker string on top of the pair. I like it alot better.

The reason the thin string is supposed to go on top is so when you are strumming you will hit all 12 strings. If you put the thick one on top there's always the chance that the pick will miss the thin string after it hits the thick one first.

i got a 12 string last year and it was tuff to get used to. the neck is wider than a 6 string. it is harder to keep in tune. but i love playing it.

I would have to disagree.... the hardest thing about playing a 12 string is restringing it!!!! ;)
