Helpy Buying PA System

I did a search but didn't find much. My band is looking into buying a small PA system, just something basic to get a fuller/more powerful sound. I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I'm not sure exactly how much power we would need just to play small gigs. Thanks.

well, my band uses this JBL PA system. i cant seem to find it on musicians friend anymore and i cant recall the wattage at the moment either. but i remember it costing us about $1,200. Im not sure on how much you are willing to spend. but this PA works fine for us, and we rarely play infront of people. but, i would suggest one of the smaller ones wich run about 300-400 but, i have never used one and dont know how it would perform against the noise of drums and such. if youd like,(i am sure you have already checked htis out) you can go to musiciansfriend.com and there is a section for PA system packages. there are a few to choose from. sorry i could not be more help. good luck! :)
