My gf has a DVD burner on her laptop, but thats her only drive, and then I have the Player on mine, but no DVD burner so we are kinda up a creek. Is there anywayeasy ways of burning DVDs when you only have one drive, or should i rip them off and then burn back on new discs or are there any other ways? What do you ya'll suggest?

Your gf is good to go...you really shouldn't burn DVDs in the same way you burn CDs (i.e. reading one disc while burning on to another). You should just read the disc and rip the information onto the HD of your gfs computer, then burn it on to a blank DVD.
