I've been reading a lot about Matsuzaka being a "bust." True, he hasn't been great this year. I did read an article by some yahoo right before the All-Star break about how Dice-K should've been on the all-star team, etc. I sure don't think that's true. But let's remember, last year Beckett gave up about 2,000 HRs with a 5+ ERA. This year he will win the AL Cy Young. Now I'm not assuming any Cy Youngs for Dice-K, but I'm not throwing in the towel on him quite yet. Let's give him 2 or 3 years before we judge who exactly he is....

Double-posting in the Red Sox thread. Never thought that'd happen :lol

I'm in Albany, NY, right on the same weather pattern to Boston. It's very overcast right now, but no rain for the moment. Just to give you guys an idea what's coming. If I'm at a computer, I'll let you guys know what's up throughout the day....

well i think that with jd drew too that its his first year in the al. hopefully next year he plays better. he has done pretty good in play offs though imo.

i can't wait for tonight. i hope sabathia struggles like he did against the yanks.

People are saying Matsuzaka is a bust, but once again...it's the post-season. He could pitch like crap, he could throw a perfect game. You never know what's going to happen, because people play so differently when they can taste a championship.

I'm not counting anyone out. I hope tonight is a massive pitching duel with a 1-0 or a 2-1 win.

Considerably lighter here in Albany, NY, than it was a couple hours. Sun even poking out of the clouds every once in awhile. Could be some good news for tonight. They better not have to play through rain, that'd just suck.

As Katie Brady said, my name is Travis. And don't fucking call me Chad, because as you can see by my signature, he's not my favorite person in the world.

Katie, I don't think we should ever get married, although I do spend a lot of time down in Northern Virginia :lol

I'm OK with that. Since I don't go to a football school, there are only two times during the year I drink before noon: St. Patrick's Day, and Thanksgiving. However, after noon, all is fair. You just gotta be careful not to go too hard too early :lol

My friend, Miller Lite is a chosen cheap beer. I'm actually liking that Miller Chill as another cheap beer. In terms of nice beer, give me a Guinness. Give me Yuengling (I don't think I spelled that right). Smithwicks. Boddingtons (that may be wrong too). I don't generally like really dark beer, but I'm 100% Irish, so it's necessary for me to drink some dark stuff :lol

And yes, I said no to your proposal. And I don't need a lady friend to bring me beer. Next to the couch I'll have a cooler stocked with beer on ice, so we can both get beer without getting up, so we don't miss a second of the Yankee game ;)

Laurie, great to see your lovely face as well. I refused to read the Red Sox thread for a few days, but I figured I'd hop in, see what's happening. I'm still very, very concerned about what's going to happen in the Bronx over the next week or so. I still believe the way things are right now is the best way possible to come away with a championship in 2008. Change is imminent, but I don't think that time has come just yet. Maybe give Torre a 2, 3-year deal, and call it quits when that comes up.

Back to your series, sun is out and burning bright here in Albany, NY. Did see a report live from Fenway from Tim Kurjian bout an hour ago, and they had the tarp on the field, but that doesn't mean much. Should be a good one tonight. And again, for some reason, we are all very much looking forward to the Buck/McCarver tandem. That is until about 9:00 tonight, when they become old and boring :lol

I saw that even as an Indians fan. They said with a switch-hitting Martinez coming up, they didn't know which armed pitcher to bring in, the lefty or the righty. With Garko coming up next, just bring in the righty on the chance Martinez gets on base.

Think of the bullpen as the "pitcher's dugout"- the area behind the outfield. They sit there, and when the manager calls them up to ask someone to warm up, they get up and warm up.

All the batters, bench players, managers, and coaches hang out in the dugout, closer to home plate. Pitchers have their own little area.

Oh, okay. I guess in my quick glance, I thought it was all the players on the team banging on the dugout, not just the pitchers in the bullpen/pitcher's dugout.

Hey all, what's good? Not sure I addressed this after Game 2, so I'll do it again.

First, that's how playoff baseball should be. That was an epic game, until the 11th. And that's what I want to say. What a bad hit to stay up so late, to watch an epic battle, and have it end like it did. One of the biggest letdowns I've ever seen. Maybe this won't be the epic series I envisioned it would be :shrug

And just so we all know, Manny Ramirez has been outstanding since he missed that month. He and Ortiz have hit their stride. If Dice-K throws a good game tonight, this ALCS could be in the books early....

those are not bad....we should scored 3 runs so ill take that..as long as he goes 7 we are in good shape I honestly think that's an acceptable line for tonight's game. Manny and Papi are coming to play and it's only a matter of time before Lowell, Youk, DustPan and Drew begin to feed off that momentum. If he can manage to only give up 3, Okie, Timlin and Paps can finish it off and 4 runs will win the game for us...

I would say that Lowell is already feeding off it, he drove it 3 runs on Saturday and has looked really good at the plate in both games.

Ahhh. You really think the Indians offense isn't that good, even with all the scoring they did against the Yankees and us on Saturday night. I know the Yanks don't have the greatest pitching on the planet, but the Indians have wrung up a rather large amount of runs in the playoffs (besides Beckett's game of course).

I’ve been totally deflated after Saturday night (Sunday morning)’s game. Need something good to happen tonight to get me excited about this series again.

I have a feeling Matsuzaka is going to pitch well tonight. Serving up a nice steady diet of gyroballs down the throats of the Indians.

:lol nice And when I say he agreed, I mean the conversation went something like this:

Me: Hey, uh, the Sox have a game on Monday, so I may have to bop out early depending on the start time.
Professor: Well, you're going to miss a lot of work and if you miss over half the class, it will count as an absence.
Me: Let me rephrase for you, I'm leaving class at 6:30 on Monday to go watch the Red Sox. I'm just giving you the heads up.
Professor: Well that may not be acceptable depending on how long you're in class for and--
Me: I'm not asking, I'm just giving you the common courtesy of a heads up, see ya next week.

If you watch the location of the pitches, every ball they hit hard is up. Keep the ball below the belt, and they can't do anything. That's what Beckett did, sans one pitch (the Hafner HR)...
