I would shop him around in the winter and see what you can get. Ellsbury is your future, he impresses me far more than Crisp ever has. I would start the year confident in Ramirez, Ellsbury, and Drew/Keilty in the OF. You don't really need Crisp IMO and that would free up money to invest in other players.

if it were me i would shop around drew and crisp...its unlikely for drews money someone will want him...

but if they could free up that money would not be a bad thing . they need to start thinking about replacing schilling and maybe ever varitek (as much as i hate to say that about either guy)...or maybe even spend big money on some other center fielder and put ellsbury in right for a year or two..

Let me say this; all you Red Sox fans are much more calm after a Sox loss than the Yankee fans are after a Yankee loss. Not sure why that it though. The only reason there's been shit-throwing in this thread is because Cleveland guys come in here and pick shit. So +1 to the Boston fans to not getting negative :thumbsup

And to be quite honest, even if you do fall behind 3-1, which is entirely possible, you are by no stretch out of it. You win Game 5, then go back home for 6 and 7. And I wouldn't put money on losing Game 4.

Lcsulla
10-16-2007, 01:18 AM
I doubt anyone is picking up Drew's contract unless you subsidize the hell out of it. I doubt you'll sign Schilling back, not a prayer with Bucholz MLB ready and waiting. Lester should fill in for Wake if he goes so there's no real loss in the pitching department. You'll probably want Varitek around to tutor his replacement to be honest, that is a tough call. CF is tough too, Jones and Hunter are available but I am not sold on either of them, not at the price they'll command. I think Ellsbury in CF is a solid bet and you're paying him peanuts right now.

Wow. I never thought someone would talk disrespect to a person / player like Tim Wakefield. This is one of the classiest guys in baseball. He has never been about the money and only wants to win. The guy just put together one of his best seasons ever and is 41 years old! 17 wins! I think we pay him 4 million a season. Clemens cost 17 million for what, 6 wins. Plus, Clemens is an ass. Even if this is Wake’s last start you can’t say this guy is going out on a low note.

Wang, Pettite, Hughes, Chaimberlain, Kennedy. Never thought of it that way. Good stuff :thumbsup

Basketball is my #1 sport, college hoop since the post-2000 Knicks have been a joke. But UConn? Really? I can't stand Calhoun or Auriemma. And yeah, the Celtics will definitely be better this year. But nothing like those teams of the early to late-80s (well, except the same club's teams of the late-50s to the late-60s). It's a shame I was too young to comprehend the history there :shrug

And in terms of the 2004 ALCS. That will never happen again in baseball. So be proud that you are the one team in the one year to pull that off :mad

What could we get for Coco? Maybe a bag of balls?

What about Ellsbury for Santana? Assuming we could lock up Santana to a long term deal. I love Ellsbury. I'm just tossing this trade out there.

Manny + Lester + Ellsbury...

I don't see this happening ...

It's completely against what the Twins franchise does to trade for a 35 year old left fielder and pay him more than a quarter of the team's allocated salary for the year. I'm confident every serious discuss the Twins have will begin and end with two elite prospects.

Also, have the Red Sox given anybody a no-trade clause since Manny signed his contract? I read he didn't have one, but if they gave one to someone else than one is added to Manny's contract. If so, I can't see him accepting a trade to Minnesota.

Lester + Ellsbury + Ramirez is not a bad hit I don't think. But let me throw this out there. You'll have to sign a decent hitter to protect Ortiz. What does his contract look like anyway? Anybody know? I imagine Lester and Ellsbury aren't making much, but you'd be saving a lot of money unloading Ramirez. Maybe you can use that money to sign Lowell to a 3-year deal to be a cleanup hitter, then use the extra to sign another good bat. If J.D. Drew comes around, there's another lethal lineup. Couple that with Santana + Beckett + Dice-K, the 116 Yankee wins from 98 is in severe jeopardy....

Oct 17 1999 - BOS 2, NYY 9 (0-1)
Oct 11 2003 - BOS 3, NYY 4 (0-2)
Oct 13 2003 - BOS 3, NYY 2 (1-2)

Oct 12 2004 - BOS 7, NYY 10 (1-4)
Oct 16 2004 - BOS 8, NYY 19 (1-5)

Yeah. But it's best not to rely on hitting in the playoffs, especially with Byrd's performance against the Yankees (and in the regular season). It's just in the best interest of the Sox to start Josh Game 4. It prevents a matchup with CC, (who is still good, by the way), and gives Boston the opportunity to start Josh again (one of the best playoff pitchers of our generation) for Game 7.

Wakefield isn't even 100% healthy. Not to mention his ERA is through the roof. I feel it was such an obvious decision.

1) This game is far from over

2) I'm shocked that Delcarmen pitched that long. The home run was left up in the zone, and hit hard. The pitch to Lofton was up in the zone, and got hammered. At that point they had to have known what was happening. The guy just didn't have it tonight; the Red Sox should have recognized it, and put someone else in....

EDIT: Like I said, this is far from over. There's 1 back for you....

I think it's funny that you are here and you don't even add anything constructive to anything anyway.

I pointed out that the red sox are playing well, yet seem to let it fall apart for just one inning each of their L's..

and you told me to get lost...hmm....

Did you guys just hear Buck blathering about the first 4-5-3 DP in postseason history? Who the hell cares?

And that was as good a leap and catch as you'll ever see

hit the fucking ball and run

dont just stand there and watch the ball

it would be funny to see the play hit the fence and not go out
