if the indians win they will have quite a claim.....beating both the yanks and sox in the playoffs in 1 year

No one will see it that way. People will just claim the Tribe got lucky twice, because they never get any credit.

I'd do the same with Boston. A good team is a good team, there's no two ways about it. And they're both good teams. I just wish some people would admit it, because they're looking increasingly silly at this point.

well that sucked. i liked how manny watched his homer clear the fences. i thought that was funny.

man lofton is such a bitch imo.

well hopefully beckett pitches past the 5th inning and someone in the sox order does something besides 2-3-4-5 hitters. otherwise everyone is shit so far in the past 3 games. i still have hope though.

True, haha I hate the Canes though. While I do like Florida, Washington is the only team I don't have a problem with from the South East Division. When Tampa and Carolina won cups I (and hockey) died a little on the inside haha.

I mean, they did have the best record in the AL along with the Sox.

2 Things:

1) I cant believe I heard cries of its over already. Anyone can win 3 games in a row, especially the Sox (or my Yanks).
2) Was Terry Francona crying in the postgame interview. Im not bringing it up to be a dick, but did I miss something that might have gotten him upset. Did Lester get shelled or something... I didnt really watch the game closely as I'm studying, but he looked really emotional in the postgame interview.

No one will see it that way. People will just claim the Tribe got lucky twice, because they never get any credit. You just don't get it. You have two perennial contenders and a team that hasn't been a contender since '98, of course people are going to say the Indians got lucky. Look at the three teams on paper, their almost identical. Only difference, the Yanks and Sox have a history of beating someone and winning big games, the Tribe doesn't. It's just a matter of doing it enough to get people to believe you're for real. To be honest, if you finish off the Sox, I'll believe you're for real. I've already said that whoever comes out of the AL will win the WS, which is about as much props as you can get at this point from a die hard sox fan...:thumbsup

Manny's numbers, imo, are enough to give him the title of great, but when you only have good numbers, your candor is what makes you a great player. I love my Red Sox but I will admit when they are not doing well. I am happy they made it this far but they are playing a great team.

I never got into the rivalry with the Yankees. It's pointless.
I will say this though, I never understood when Yankee fans shout about the curse every time they would beat the Sox.
So what you are saying is your team only wins because of a "curse" NOT because your team is better!

CC Sabathia still has not pitched a good game this postseason. You can look at it two ways: saying he is due for a good outing, or he is simply not a great postseason pitcher. It remains to be seen. Carmona, who knows. He looked like a monster on the mound against the Yanks, then struggled against Boston.

But huge props for Paul Byrd. No one was giving him a chance against the Yankees, and he pitched a great game at Yankee Stadium. Again, nobody gave him a chance vs. Boston, and he delivered again. HE has been their best pitcher this postseason at this point....

He hit the nail on the head here. CC better be out tonight to prove himself to a lot of people. Because up until now, it has been awful. He needs to prove he's a big-game pitcher.

Whoever said tonight is a must-win for Cleveland, I agree with you, but not for the reasons stated. Whenever you get a team up against the wall, you got to get that knockout punch right away. Don't let the thought even enter that other team's mind that they can play with you. You have to deliver that knockout punch tonight....

I'd rather have Duncan than Kobe and Lebron. There's a reason he's got 4 titles. IMO if you put him on the Cavs team and Lebron on the Spurs team, the Cavs take it. The way he spreads the paint on offense and makes it a danger zone on defense. Doesn't matter who's playing with him.

Oh I will. The thing I love about college (and baseball, and football for that matter) is that every team and every game is enjoyable. There's so much to keep track of, every game is crucial, and it all leads up to a month of bliss that is March Madness (and in baseball's case, October :multi). It's what the NBA lacks. But yeah, I will definitely enjoy OJ, but I'll enjoy all the other teams as well :D

Very strange.....but I feel more confident than ever about this series right now. Maybe 2004 changed the way I think about things. I mean....I still threw my Sox hat in the corner and swore I wouldn't pick it up until opening day on Tuesday night.....just like I did in 2004. I don't know.

I'm 100% confident that I will be going to Fenway on Saturday for game 6.

The other day I heard that Cleveland was very prepared for the bugs thing, and now this exgf crap makes me think they are a very sketchy organization.

However, I don't think Josh's ex being there will really affect him.

But I don't buy the whole coincidence thing, that's bullshit.

And about the bugs thing against the Yankees, at first I thought it was just a level field, since both ahd to deal with it, but the Yankees are the only ones who had to "deal" with it. I just think something sketchy is going on with that Indians team.

That all being said, they havent done anything "sketchy" to determine the outcome of this series YET. So their lead on us in this series is legit, since they have straight up beaten us up.

Our Father, who art at Fenway...
Baseball be thy game,
Thy kingdom come,
Playoffs need to be won,
On Earth, then on to the Cask 'n' Flagon.
Give us this day, a perfect Papi,
And forgive us our losses,
As we forgive those,

And lead us not, into desperation,
But deliver us from any losses.

If it were me, I would have gone with Wakefield.

Because I'd much rather have Beckett on the mound in an elmination type game.

Say he would have pitched in game 4, and had a bad outing, Schilling would be out there tonight, and I'm not that confident in Schilling.

Good enough. I still would've gotten with Beckett though. IMO if you start Wakefield you're just asking for a 3-1 deficit. This leaves Josh as an option with full rest for Game 7, and I'm sure if it were tied 2-2 you gotta put your trust in Curt and Dice K (at home) to get you to that game 7 at the worst.

But if the Sox take this one, I guess Curt and Dice-K at home would be fine. But when you have a chance to start one of the best pitchers of the past ten years in Games 1, 4, and 7, it's hard to resist. You're paying (how many million?) for him to pitch those games.

This pisses me off. First the Rockies game, where the call was "made up" by another crappy call.

Now if the Sox lose this game by a run EVERYONE will look back at that play. It's the truth. What a shitty blown call.

Can somebody please tell me exactly what the HR rule is? To me, it looked like it hit the top of the wall, on the yellow line. Now I was under the impression that if it hits the yellow, it's a HR. But maybe not?

And quit complaining about balls and strikes....

i think its if it hits the yellow line and goes over which is weird cause the ball generally has backspin so itd do what mannys ball did

agreed, but only for certain plays. ie. homeruns, foul balls, fan interference, and maybe close plays at the plate or bases.....MAYBE.

yeah i don't get that. they said if the ball hit the yellow line it would have went up, but i don't see how it could hit the yellow line and go up, unless it hits the very top of the line.

i believe through 2008 with something like 2 or 3 option years after that

for the record, nice play by pedey in the bottom of the inning

and From MLB.com...at jacob's field

Fair batted ball that travels over the yellow line on top of the outfield wall (on the fly): HOME RUN.

and now the sox are screwed. at least no drew tonight, but god damn. coco then lugo

I don't wanna hear any bullshit about the Indians advancing due to a blown call. It was in the 3rd inning of Game 5. Plus we don't even know if it was blown, until proven otherwise. There's plenty of context around what happened....

unless i missed something, it says it has to be OVER the yellow line on the fly to be a HR.

Thank you for the rule.

So if I'm right (I think I am), the ball hit the yellow line, not over. So no home run. I think.

They are both playing like shit.

Laurie-Ann, I like you, definitely not going after you. But that kid's been after the home plate umpire all series. He made a thread about the home plate umpire a game or two ago. I've seen plaenty of pitches Sabathia has thrown tonight that I'm like "where was that pitch?" It happens

In all honesty though, I haven't been too impressed with the umpires either, but I also haven't been watching closely enough to really make any comments. Plus I'm a homer, so it's a little hard to be impartial! ;)
