momentum shifting game. all this late inning scoring

He could very well be right. That's why I don't throw Gagne here. Either Papelbon or Okajima. Don't risk giving up a couple runs with Gagne. You don't want Cleveland having ANY kind of momentum or good thoughts heading to the jungle.....

How many do you have?

All on VHS (apparently you can't record baseball to DVD):

Angels/Giants games 6-7

Clips of the NLCS game 7, not sure about game 6 (Bartman, I really hope I have it).

I think I have the last few innings of the Aaron Boone game (I was 12 back then, I remember having two tapes for 3 games, so I had to choose my innings).

I have Gonzalez's game 4 walk off homer against the Yankees in the 03 World Series (also had to choose my innings). And I got a full tape for all of game 6.

None of 04 :BANG. Good thing there's a box set out.

None of 05 :BANG

The clinching games of the 2006 ALCS/NLCS. All 5 World Series games.

For this year I have the Indians/Yankees clincher and the Rockies NLCS clincher.

I got some things to take up....

-Josh Beckett is a tool. The pitch to Lofton that got called a strike was, in my opinion, a ball. But again, we don't argue balls and strikes. But there's no need to start screaming shit at the guy when you have him out. And I guess, according to SC, it's happened before. The guy is just a straight douchebag

-Good decision by Francona last night to give the ball to Papelbon in the ninth to shut the door. If the Indians score a couple runs in the 9th, they have some good thoughts and a little momentum. Right now they are not in great shape, and it's even worse leaving home going to Boston.

-Tito had some great things to say about Joe Torre last night. I did think it was awfully inappropriate of the writers keep asking about Torre. The Yankees are gone, Tito's team is still playing.

Made me think, I really don't hate a lot of people on Boston's team. I think a lot of them really fit into the Boston stereotype that I have, which is why I keep it. I really don't like Ramirez, and am still amazed that through all these years the Boston hierarchy just puts up with it. As I've said, Beckett's a punk. Schilling's a punk who just wants to hear himself talk, and is truly in love with himself. There are other guys; Varitek one name that comes to mind, Youkilis another.

But in reality, I really don't have such a problem with the Red Sox with their personnel right now. And if it's possible, I don't want anyone to take offense to this, because I like a lot of the regular posters around here, and I think our relationship is good. But the Boston fans just really get to me....

I agree with everything you said except for Beckett, I mean yes, he can be a dick, but Lofton has been asking for shit all series.

And the fans are usually what fuel these rivalries, is hatred for the other teams fans, not the players.

I see nothing wrong with Beckett screeming "OUT" after Kenny popped up. He didn't swear at him...he yelled "OUT". Kenny on the other hand couldn't take it and ran his month the entire way to first base.

At least he didn't pull an A-Rod and yell "Got It" to the third baseman of the other team....now that was a classless thing to.

You're right, it does come down to whose side you're on. And yes, I have some issues with Varitek and Youkilis as well. I just think they're both dirty players, just want to jaw all over the field. It's called defending your team/pitcher when you're the captain. Something Jeter should learn how to do. Better yet, the whole Yankees team just isn't very good at protecting their players, so their fans certainly wouldnt understand when our Red Sox captain defends our players.

One more thing, if I came into your sacred Yankees thread and posted some shit like that you, and your Yankee buddies would freak out. Goes to show you some of hte hypocrisy around here....

It's called defending your team/pitcher when you're the captain. Something Jeter should learn how to do. Better yet, the whole Yankees team just isn't very good at protecting their players, so their fans certainly wouldnt understand when our Red Sox captain defends our players.

Defending him from what? Correct me if I am wrong here but A-Rod was going to first base bitching, certainly didn't appear he was going after Arroyo. That is what guys who think they got hit on purpose do if they are not looking for a fight by charging the mound. A-Rod was not charging the mound so why would Arroyo need defending?

When a guy gets hit and thinks it is on purpose you let him bitch all the way to the base, there is no sense at all in further pissing off a player who just got plunked and that is what Varitek did. That is the way baseball goes. There was no reason for Varitek to follow him down the line, no reason to taunt Rodriguez who was pissed off already, and certainly no reason to start a fight.

The only remotely 'captainlike' thing that could have been construed out of that was Varitek trying to light a fire under his team, other than that it was just bush. I honestly used to like Varitek a lot before that, now I think he's a little bitch who I hope struggles for the rest of his career.

If making a mountain out of a molehill and starting a fight is defending your players I sure as hell hope the Yankees never start that.

Nah, I like it when the Cleveland (or any other) fans come in, makes a little more, umm, spicy I gues.
Where did the Cleveland fans go?
They are probably doing something productive with their day, like working. :lol:lol:lol

As for Beckett and others being tools, well the same can be said for many players out there. We can spend hours going back and forth over who we think are jerks and why. Personally I think they are all self-centered, egotistical, megalomaniacal, jerks. They couldn't care one whit what we thought about them. They do care that we spend our money on games, TV Sports Packages, video games, etc., etc. If you believe for one second that any single player out there is doing just "for the love of the game", you are more naive than I am.

So is Beckett a tool? Yes, and so is Lofton, and Varitek, and Youk, and all the rest. But still, we love to watch them play, and that's why we are all here in this forum! :D

I think it's very telling how different the perceptions of the A-Rod,V-Tek brawl are between Red Sox and Yankees fans. I'm not saying you are wrong and we are right but when I see footage of that game it appears to be that A-Rod bit off more than he could chew. I actually went back and watched the video to be sure. Arroyo plunks A-Rod, to which A-Rod takes exception. Upon making his way to 1st, A-Rod keeps screaming "Fuck You" to Arroyo to which Varitek takes exception. Varitek then walks in and tells A-Rod to move it to first. At this point A-Rod turns toward Varitek and starts challenging him to "come on" and "let's go". You can see a bit of an "Oh shit" expression on A-Rod's face when he sees Varitek taking him up on his invitation. I don't feel that Varitek was unprovoked so I'm not sure why so many people can consider him "bush" league for this. IMO.

And it was CLEARLY a strike.

And should we talk about all the Yankees who are tools?

First off, I gotta thank Jamie for helping me out, and answering a question that was posed. I appreciate it buddy :thumbsup

Actually, you're really not that far off (Greg is it? I think?). I don't know, it's hard to explain. I'm sure you guys understand, apparently the other way around.

Again Ryan, I don't like to argue balls and strikes; managers get thrown out for that, so I don't really like to go there. To me it was at the knees, but off the plate inside. At the very least, you can say it was borderline. No way you can say "clearly"

And I think you're allowed to talk about the Yankees who you portray as "tools." I came in here, unprovoked, and gave my thoughts. I think you're able to do the same thing.

Again, Greg (again, I hope :lol ) has something nice to say. I have been in here a lot, and I try not to start fights, and I don't think I do. I try and have intelligent conversation about baseball, which I think we do. As I've said, I like most of the people around here, and I think they like me.

Again, gonna give an opinion. I think if you did come in the Yankee thread and address some of the stuff I have, I think you would be jumped all over. But there's a difference between you and I. You have repeatedly shown yourself to be someone that is just out to start problems. Your posts are almost expressly negative, always. I hope (and I think) that I'm able to come in here and post some of this stuff openly; and as some of the people in here have, they ask why, questions, etc. And I answer their questions, without starting problems.

People are welcome to chime in whenever they chose so long as they adhere to board rules. You're welcome to a Sox-centric point of view if you like but try not to get all bent out of shape if someone questions your interpretation of something that happened. Wow, Cleveland has absolutely folded. Unbelievable what's going on right now. I saw the Yankees botch a rundown earlier this year in Toronto, but I've never seen anyone throw the ball off the runner's head before :lol

Interesting how opinions change. At the beginning of the postseason, in Game 4 vs. the Yankees, everybody just assumed the Yanks would tee off on him. Then the same thing when the Red Sox faced him. Now this is the opinion, and I'm sure you're not the only one who feels this way. Just shows how much respect he has earned this postseason.

Now, question. Last year, Jeff Weaver had a very good postseason, got a big deal, and busted. Does maybe the same happen to Byrd?

Two things, same issue.

The Indians Shortstop Peralta is just awful. Time and time again, in both series this postseason, he is so lazy, just kinda tossing the ball to first, maybe getting the runner, maybe not. I just don't like the way he plays the position at all.

On the other side of it, I'm really impressed with Dustin Pedroia at 2nd base. He makes every play, he bounces right up off the ground, and hurries that ball over to 1st, on the money. Really good 2B :thumbsup

I agree with the schedule of the playoffs. I don't see the point of having Games 1 and 2, travel day, 3 and 4, travel day, 5, day off, 6 and 7.

And I thought even worse is how they did the first round this year. Now it never came into play because no series went 5 games, but if it did, there would have been a day off between Games 4 and 5. I liked it with no day off, I thought it should've stayed that way.

You agree it doesn't make sense? Or you don't understand what I said? The way this series worked was....

In Boston: Games 1 and 2, back-to-back
Then a day off
In Cleveland: Games 3 and 4, back-to-back. Then there was a day off, then Game 5.
Then another day off
In Boston: Games 6 and 7, back-to-back

In my opinion, there should have been days off only when the teams had to travel

Okay, that makes more sense. You through a travel day in there where it didn't belong the first time around, that's why I was confused.

So yes, I agree with you that they shouldn't have a day off if they arent' traveling. They play three days in a row during the season all the time.

Spending that kind of money on someone who is clearly at the twilight of his career just to bring in a big name and spite the Red Sox is one of the reasons the Yankees and not won a Championship since '00. Ever since '04 it has become personal for you guys...the Yankees should stop worrying about what the Red Sox are doing and start just doing their own thing. If the Red Sox were not competitive I bet it would not be as big of a deal that the Yankees are not winning championships. I think that because the Sox are good the Yankees feel shown up and are trying to do what ever they can to 1 up the Sox...and so far it is not working. Thats just how I view it.

Ex: Sox want A-Rod...Yankees get him, Sox get Schill from Arizona...Yankees get Randy Johnson, Sox beat Yankees with Damon...Yankees get Damon.

it just goes on and on.

Actually, the Sox wanted Vasquez so the Yankees went after him just to keep him from us, so we went ahead and got Schilling instead, that made out for us a bit better huh? ....Same with Pavano, except we ended up with Clement, so that was a wash...But at least Clement pitched in 34 games over 3 seasons compared to Pavano's 19.

But yeah, I'mn pretty glad that we are doing our own thing and we don't really concern ourselves with what the Yankees do.

I don't think a fat paycheck would get Schilling to the Yanks. He said he wouldn't play for them, and I know that Damon said the same thing. The difference with Schilling is, he's talked about how he'd like to play in either Philly (for sentimental reasons) or Tampa (to bestow his knowledge on the youngsters.) This is a guy who seems to care more about baseball and what he can add to the game, rather than how much money he can make. Plus, he's his own agent, so there's no high-money/Boras factor in this one.

Actually, I agree with you to a point, you make some very valid points. I also think the Yankee owner does do things just to try to 1-up the Red Sox. My biggest example is just this past offseason. The Red Sox throw a boatload of money at Japan's best pitcher, Matsuzaka. The Yankee owner has a knee-jerk reaction, and has to get somebody from Japan also, so he throws a boatload of money at Igawa, even though he is a far inferior pitcher.

I don't so much agree that it's ever since 2004, I don't think the Red Sox winning the World Series has so much to do with it. Maybe some, but I definitely don't think a lot. And I don't agree with the "if the Red Sox weren't good it wouldn't matter as much" theory. The Yankees have been World Series-or-bust for quite awhile, Torre said as much at his press conference the other day.

And Ryan, way to go kid! Way to go to that bar and man up! My best if 9 double-shots of Goldschlager in the period of about 3 hours. I ended up breaking my toe that night, but it didn't hurt until I woke up at 5am with an indescribable pain :lol

Let's see....what great Game 7 LCS memories do I have.

Definitely the Boone homer.
The Damon grand slam.
St. Louis, Houston, St. Louis in 04-05-06
The Marlins in 03 was fan-fuckin-tastic.

Tonight's game has alot of competition.

The past three Indians starters have zero composure. Who says the experience factor is overrated? Sometimes it means everything.
