this had to be one of the hardest decisions francona has had to make....i believe he did the right thing...Youk is a great spark off the bench. Its hard to take out your clean up hitter in the series, like you said.

Youk is great, but how do you take the bat out of Ortiz's hands in the WS unless he is dying? Tell your dad he's using backwards logic. You keep the defensive strong player on the bench for late innings. You can't assume Papi will come off the bench and produce in his first AB, as he's not very good in his first ABs in games. Youk is a much more patient, consistant hitter and will likely respond in his only AB in a game, plus you get his glove in the late innings.

Millions of people, drunks everywhere, nothing to drink, no bathrooms, and unless you were VIP you couldn't see much. I had friends go in 98, 99, and 00 and everytime they asked if I wanted to go I just laughed. Once was enough, it's like New Years in Times square for me, a nightmare!

2004 was so much fun though. I was a senior in high school. I went in with my friends, enjoyed beverages on the train ride in. Got toasty and ate some food in Boston. It was busy and jam packed, but I didn't mind it. I did it for the Patriots rallies in the past.


I mean it was a celebration 86 years in the making. I could understand the repetition after awhile and not going in, but I just love these Sox. Any minute of them is a good minute.

I find it very interesting that you say that Jamie, specifically referring to the Times Square at New Years Eve, I mean. Because I've long suspected that's what it would be like. That sure, a lot of people might want to go once simply to say that they did it once in their lifetime, but from looking at it, I always gathered that the actual logistical experience of doing it would totally suck and be uncomfortable.

My friends got kicked out of a hotel for dope so we were stuck on the street for hours freeezing. The manager of said hotel sucker punched me in the mouth when I jumped between he and a buddy. I nearly caused a riot outside the place because the crowd saw him punch me and security escort me out, they started throwing bottles at the lobby windows and I didn't do anything to calm them. Cops gave me a bunch of shit but let me go since I didn't actually do anything. We froze some more. Missed our train because we couldn't get a cab. Amanda and I ended up sleeping in a subway turnstile freezing some more and then hoofed it to Grand Central and caught a 7am train home. I slept like a king the next day. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!! :lol

Friends told us what hotel they were at, it was a nice 4 star place with a live in manager. We went to the desk and asked if we could go to their room, he said no. We asked if we could call up, he said no. We asked if he could call up, he said no. Finally my buddy started yelling at him. Dude came out from behind the counter and started jawing with Bobby and they were ready to throw down. I was still sober so I ran over, grabbed Bobby and pulled him away telling him and the manager to act like fucking adults. Then I looked over to the girls we were with and smiled and told them everything was fine... the smack, something hit me from the side right in the mouth and next thing I knew I was bleeding all over and then I got pissed off.

All the jerk had to do was say 'Your friends are jerks and I kicked them out.' We would have probably said, 'yeah, that is them, sorry' and walked away. He was a dick about it and one thing lead to another and he sucker punched me. Still t o this day not sure why he picked me since I kept him from fighting with my friend - maybe I was just in teh wrong place. Who knows.
