He's a flyball pitcher. He'll give up around 30 a year, just the way the throws. I'm sure he'll have an alright year. 10-14 wins with a sub-par ERA.

I tell you, it never gets old," Youkilis said. "This is my third Opening Day with the Red Sox and I've had two ring ceremonies. Hopefully in the future we get these every year. It's great to get these rings. Great to win a ballgame. Now we get to sit back and just play baseball."

really? He had an era over 4 two times as a reliever in 8 seasons. 63 k's in 54 innings his last year there.

japans like AAA-AAAA. as you know, MLB is much harder. his numbers have been much better here and theres no way he'll end up with a career era under his japan one. he's 32 right now and only getting older, i cant see why he'd get better.

He cant get any better than he is throwing right now. I was trying to point out that once he arrived here I'm sure he worked out a lot harder and the coaching is obviously going to help him more here. He has an ERA just over 2.00 after 74 innings of work (hes a great pitcher). If he was in pinstripes I'm sure your view on this would be a lot different.

I think it has to do with how unimpressively we won. The bullpen is shaky and Papi's lack of performance is a bit disturbing. To me it feels like we won on a fluke, except for yesterday, but even then it seemed like the bullpen might lose it again. Not exactly cause for celebration.
However, I am certainly happy that they did manage to take 2 out 3 from your guys. :thumbsup

Yes indeed, Paps was impressive on Saturday night, I just meant as a whole for the bullpen. Paps can't come in every game, and he shouldn't have to, but it's feeling that way.

Impressive? You think so?? Nobody did anything against MUSSINA except for Ramirez.
That shouldn't have even happened either because Girardi made a bone-headed decision.
And last night?? Your boy from Japan looked almost as bad as Hughes but got let off the hook by our hitters. The game was decided by that first inning.

Ok, and that's what he does, what the fans and his team mates expect him to do. It's something I've seen him do to Yankee hitters since he started closing and something I've seen Mo do to Red Sox hitters on many occasions too.
It could have gone 2-1 either way, and neither team looked all that great all weekend.
