Wow what another great game and comeback tonight.

Lester looked bad at the beginning of the game, but over the later innings he settled down nicely and only gave up 3 runs. Ellsbury with the great catch there in the top of the 8th inning. Then for the bats finally to get going in the bottom of the 8th and Manny's MOONSHOT. That was so exciting.

Solid start to the year thus far. I like seeing this late inning rallies. This is what the Red Sox have been about the past few years. I would like to see the strike out totals come down for the team. But like Greg said, Papi is now hitting. So I bet that category will see a slight drop off. And when someone like Lowell returns, you get consistent batters at the 3-5 spot.

Whole team is solid and consistent, but those three made the difference last year. Toronto has been the only real scare, and every year they give us fits. Good series at home this weekend. Gave the fans something to watch and wait for in attendance.

you think okajima-paps is better than joba-mo? no way.

but regardless...im not saying whos better whos not better..im simply saying, you guys are not going to win a championship with your bullpen.

you may be in first place right now, but 1. i dont expect that to stand. and 2. if you played the dbacks in a 7 game series right now youd get the doors blown off...so its all irrelevent for the time being.

i said that bc, you appeared to use "were in first place" as a rebuttal to me saying your not winning any champisionships this season..

what does you being in first place in april have to do with winning it all in october?

Once again its a month into the year. The Pen does suck but once again we are 15-9 anyways. It will get better once people come back. There is plenty of time for improvement, I'm sure we are not the only ones noticing the pen is subpar. It will get fixed.

Hey, you'll love this. My pastor is a NY sports fan (Yankees for baseball and Giants for football). This morning he was preaching on the importance of being a part of a Christian community, aka a local community. He started off by having a picture of the NY Giants celebrating their Superbowl victory over the Patriots up on the screen. (:mad ). And before you ask, yes this church is in New England. :lol :lol

The Sox are struggling with injuries just like the Yankees are...

We have basically the same team that won the division and World Series last year...

Once we are healthy we will be back on track.

I'm just confused how the Red Sox "suck" even though most of our roster that won the championship last year is still in tact (just struggling with some injuries...?:confused

We have a deeper team this year IMO actually.

Crush086
05-02-2008, 05:41 PM
But at least you still have the heart of your order. A-Rod and Posada being out really changes how other teams look at our lineup. Hideki Matsui (maybe even Melky Cabrera. He's having a good start) is the most intimidating guy in our lineup.

As far as pitching goes, at this point we're not really taking a hit by losing Hughes (I don't know how many of you keep up with stats, but check his line this year). Either way I wouldn't say 1 starting rotation is way better than the other. But, I'd say that the way our bullpen looks, losing Bruney hurts more than you'd imagine.

Yeah, but that's only 1 guy. Now he can be seen as a walkable guy, since Matsui sits #4 now. Not saying he can't hit, but he certainly is no A-Rod (and Giambi hasn't broken out of his funk yet like Ortiz, so I don't count his as a threat). Gotta make this quick. It's time to go home!

Beckett has given up 3 runs or less in every start except his first start (coming back from injury without any spring training starts) where Delcarmen allowed all of Beckett's baserunners that he inherited to score.

Buchholz..same thing..An ERA BARELY over 4 because of ONE bad start in NY.

Daisuke has improved since last year...

I'm starting to think you don't even watch Sox games yet form opinions about them....

The Red Sox are struggling yes, but they FAR from "suck"...

And I never said we had the same injuries as you guys, I just said we have injuries just like you guys do, which is true, because we do.

But to say Beckett doesnt look good at all is just a misinformed opinion that just doesnt count IMO.

2. i never said beckett doesn look good. i said beckett doesnt look as good as last year...which he doesnt.

3. I never said bucholz sucked either...I said he is not living up to his hype...I assumed an ERA over 4 wasn't what his "hype" was hoping for.

PurpleShamrock

Beckett looks perfectly fine...Just as good as last year...averaging more strikeouts...

He had ONE hiccup...ONE bad start which was his first of the season after coming back from injury. He actually pitched well in that game, but just ran out of gas at the end and left some baserunners on that Delcarmen let score...that's what happens when you don't have spring training to get stretched out..

Other than that, he has pitched wonderfully.

Same goes for Buchholz...One bad start, other than that, fantastic...

You said the Red Sox "suck" this year, I was saying they don't. I don't think I missed what you said man, I was just refuting it.

The Red Sox do not suck this year. That's a very ignorant statement to make.
