first off boo to all you haters....this tour is so fuckin amazing. but before i go into why...
i have this creeping suspicion (;)) dave planned this past year or so like a well-crafted jam. they ended on the biggest high note last year at CP. and then the whole some devil thing and the dominating rock tour that is D&F made many question the level of interest dave really had in his real band. but just like a well-crafted jam, the anticipation only gets better as it lengthens extending the limit at which a band can hold back.
but now the tour has quickly gotten rolling and the jam (the one we've all been craving and eatin our fingernails for to finally make its way.) continues on. These sets are amazing. even the ones deceptively decent. dave wouldnt play songs that are tired and or play them just to spite the fans. maybe its the fans that need to listen harder. these are the songs the band wants to play. and so if you listen with that light on it you can discover the true musical prowess which is the Dave Matthews Band. you'll find that whatever they play is all the same part of the sonic wave that runs in all the band members' heads. so i did it, #41, iihia, DIDO, sugar-will should all be taken with the same spoon, and if so it'll go down oh soo creamy smooth.
now besides my huge lecture...THESE SETS ARE SO LONG!!!!!!! its amazing how much music theyre playin every night. Joy-Ride and Crasy-Easy are already two songs on the new cd that will get heavy car-time from me. and the subtle changes of all the ol-school hits is a real exciting thing im looking forward to.
oh and another thing i love....the tour premier of Two Step (6/27) !!!!!!! i hate all of you who were there. haha im kidding...thats awesome that you recieved the gift of so.

While the actual setlists of these shows don't look all that great I must admit that the band is rocking this year. They are just performing the older tunes much better imo. This tour's still kicking 01 and 02's asses though.

I Personnally think we all hype each other up saying maybee we'll get Holloween, HHW, Seek Up, and other songs that we pretty much know we won't see but still have a little hope for. And I think thats the bands fault for leading us on with teases of #40 or a holloween at the Gorge in 02. But I think we all know these sets are really good sets but are expectations now are for Great sets that blow us away.

Ummmm...if you read the show lengths over at dmbalmanac.com, you would see that the actual song times of the '04 shows are about the same as '03, '02, etc. The shows are not getting any longer.
