the lighting.......

Really. Sure, the obvious color schemes (purple/blue/green during songs like 1SW, Grace is Gone, red/yellow during Stone) and the obvious "hit" moments (Warehouse woos, end of Ants, crowd lights at "people in every direction", etc.) have always been strong.

.....but I've been amazed at the sence of nuance pulled out of the lighting this tour, just the rise and fall of the musical phrasing. And the spot lighting was incredibly well timed to even the smallest of Roi and Boyd's little 4 measure solo moments, more so than I've ever remembered seeing.

Plus the stage and lighting really seem to be set up to really make Butch fit in the visual setup of things.....to bad he wears such ugly shirts. Anyone else notice these things??

Their lighting need some creativity back then. I also think the were limited for those shows because of the filming.

Maybe Fenton picked up some tips from Phish's crew when he joined them in Vegas this spring.

Better speakers and better lighting plus new songs and more creative intros and segues. And some people are maligning this tour. Fuck 'em.

Yeah, as far as the DVD is concerned, I remember those similar comments regarding the wind coming up. I remember correctly they were actually trying to "add" a few post-production effects during editing to compensate......

I also miss the video shot they used at the end of Ants last year.......it was the street shot where the film was moving like triple time, but it was "moving" down the street like a car would.......the shot I've been seeing this year is the same effect but from a fixed position :-)
