what do we think about the band havin like an absoulutley kick ass set...and closin with somethin slow...im thinkin a space between...but most people will completely disagree...or a loving wings..but does anyone think it would be interesting to end on a slow song? or atleast a real relaxed chill song

(i would start a new thread...but you know...i cant cause i was retarted in my beginning stages..)

if there was Ever a GIG closer.... i would be outraged... i left at st. louis during the WWYS closer. thats bad enough and it was worth me beating traffic over. First time in 45 shows that ive ever left early, even after all those What you are closers.

Honestly, Grace and Rapunzel don't look too too bad. Rapunzel to close the encore is hot stuff.

There were times in the Band's history where they would close a set with Satellite. Nowadays, I doubt that could ever happen -- but if it did it would certainly be interesting. But also, there was a John Mellencamp interview nearly an interview that is pertinent to this topic. He talked about how the audience pays so much and gives so much up to be there at the concert, so "how could I not give them what they want?" This was on the tour for his last album, which was all blues covers, but he still played his classic tunes. Therefore, I see DMB in the same light. There going to play a lot of songs that aren't all fan favorites, but they'll please the crowd as they always do and wouldn't dare end a show with something that isn't FOR the crowd.

I was pretty annoyed when they closed with WWYS on 6.18. It's a great song and all, but just isn't meant to end a show. Set closer sure, evening closer no way.

I think it'd be brilliant. Not Grace Is Gone, at least not the way it's been played since 2000. But I've seen Radiohead end encores with a Thom Yorke solo rendition of True Love Waits. And the crowd loved it. Could you imagine Dave ending a show with a solo rendition of #40. It'd be legend. I think Crash Into Me, Satellite, and Say Goodbye are also all strong enough to close shows. Even Dreaming Tree might be interesting.

Ok, maybe not Satellite, but I personally wouldn't mind it occasionally...

I mean, it'd be fun for some of these things to end shows so that things like Billies and Two Step could appear mid set more.

Lucky lucky fucker...when I saw em, the final encore was No Surprises/Idioteque. I love NS, but I thought it was kind of a weak way to end a show.

Idioteque is one of my favorite parts of their show.

Check out the setlist for 5.24.98, which I still generally consider to be the best show I've ever seen. After an unbelievable night, we were treated to a 3 song encore of 2 Step > DDTW and then Crash.

It was kind of strange, but it worked for me.

I enjoy quiet endings to a lot of concerts ... Pearl jam often closes with yellow Ledbetter which is just a wonderful kind of chill goodbye song. Or sometimes they'll even close with Indifference. With dmB I think we're just used to a rocking songclosing the night, so it feels unusual to say goodbye on any other note.

There was nother show in 98 where they closedwith Say Goodbye, which is a neat idea. Unfortunately, that night it was a 1 song encore and that would upset me because I would have been expecting something else. But if they wanted to close with a slower song and it was the second or third song of the encore (and I therefore knew it was over), I'd be happy with that.
