So I'm surfing the almanac and they have a Some Devil tease in between Recently and Jimi on 6/24? Can anyone who has a copy of the show verify this? IMO this is positive for two reasons:

1) Dave has finally teased something. I'm sure some more teases will pop up once the first 10 shows have been listened to more, but as of now this appears to be the first song Dave has teased.

2) Although Dave hasn't played a solo song yet and it's highly doubtful that a Some Devil song will show up this tour, at least there's a small hope. If he's teasing Some Devil songs than who knows what'll happen.

I'm not sure about this show, but at 12.22.02 -- Dave teases Some Devil just before going into Jimi Thing.

Dammit people... 12/14/02 Halloween was a tease. 9/8/02 Last Stop was a tease. Any guitarist with over 100 original songs will eventually hit on one or two riffs from another song while they're preparing the next song. Some show has a 2 second tease of Redemption Song listed somewhere, it just doesn't happen that way.

Dave won't play Some Devil this tour. Maybe once in the encore if something unforeseen happens (Roi yakking all over the stage again.) but it won't be planned.

agreed.
the almanac is also a little bit over-zealous when it comes to naming and labeling songs played. A lot of times they'll list segues that were actually a 5-10 sec break in between songs. not exactly a segue. If dave played the first two notes of any song, they'd list it as a tease. Whether or not it is in the right time signature, key, etc... they go a little nuts.

What'll happen when Dave plays an Am-G-F chord progression to make sure his guitar is tuned ... will they list it as a Gravedigger or a Watchtower tease?

The almanac is just that. An almanac. They are going to try to find every little tid bit they can, or even infer into something else.

Teases are over-rated.

keep in mind that the almanac does get a lot of help from fans who were at shows and thought that they heard a song, but didnt, or tease, etc....you can submit song tidbits and they will most likely always take your word for it....

As previously mentioned, sometimes people get a little carried away when it comes to teases. If Dave strums a D chord, people assume he's teasing LIOG, when really he is just making sure his guitar is tuned for WAYG (which is essentially a D chord). One more thing: sometimes guitarists just fool around inbetween songs, and it's natural to play songs and not even think about them. He could have been teasing Some Devil and not even have known it or thought about it.

Agreed...I was just wondering what kind of tease it was. I figured it must have been pretty minor since if it was a really noticeable tease (i.e. where he plays the first 20 seconds or sings some lyrics) someone would have mentioned it by now.

i was there.... i don't remember hearing anything that resembled some devil. but between songs it can be kind of hard to hear exactly what the dave is playin around with on the guitar

I was in the second row center at this show, and there was definitely a song teased at this point. I couldn't tell if it was Some Devil. Dave played a guitar riff, and sang the equivalent of about 2 lines of lyrics VERY quietly. When he finished, he took his hands off the guitar and made a quieting gesture, and said "shhhhhhhh", and then started in with the Jimi riff.

On a side note, I kind of doubt it was Some Devil, as it is not played on the same type of guitar as Jimi Thing is played on. But something was definitely teased.

I can't stand the almanac. They list way to much stuff.

On the second Gorge show that was just released I noticed that the Angel-like tease before Jimi Thing resembles Oh in a big way. I thought that was kind of cool. Anyone else notice that or agree?

um... I hate to call you out, but there is an Angel tease before Jimi. Angel used to be an into to Jimi. Type in Angel here in the setlist search and you'll see it's been teased before Jimi since 96.

the Almanac guys got that from us, b/c we list the teases the same way, for the most part. We don't list any teases that I don't hear during the show, and we list them as 'chords' when it's just Dave (or whoever) fumbling around the chords. Some are clearly unintential, but it shows that the song is still hidden somewhere inside their collective skulls and could eventually return someday (like a Heathcliff's Haiku Warriors Tease).

I don't get that. Was Angel really an intro to Jimi Thing, or did the intro to Jimi Thing just sort of evolve into Angel in the studio in 2000?

Yeah I know it's an Angel tease but that particular version sounded like Oh or some other Some Devil song to me (maybe I heard it wrong I was in my car :) ). I checked the tabs for angel, jimi, and oh and oh would be off by a whole step so I must have just been crazy. My bad...I'll listen to it again later and figure out what they hell I was thinking.
