A Message Of Hope For Brit (Satellite618)

i've gotten permission from Brit's friend, Hilary, to update ya'll on Brit's medical condition.
She's in the hospital. Last night she became very sick and when she was found she was barely breathing and unconscious. As far as I know, she has not regained consciousness.
I'm know that she'll wake up and read all the well wishes from her friends at Ants, so can we spread the love here?

Our good friend Brit is in dire straights. As we all know, she kicked Cancers ass, but as of now she is suffering greatly. She is not able to communicate with us.

I implore everyone to plase send all your good vibes to her to get out of this hell hole that she is in. She beat Canver, we do not want her to be taken from us by something else.

Write down a message to her if you wish. God knows she needs it right now.

either way, get well soon. :)Sorry, it appears the initial entry as to what happened on the 9th was locked to friends. I am going to post what Jon told us, as he has said many a time that we were more than welcome to share this with her friends on ants.
This all happened while Brenda and Brit were chatting on IM...and Brenda urged Brit to call 911...

~Things are grave tonight, friends. Brit has been having problems breathing and with her lungs. earlier this evening she called 911 because she knew something was wrong. When they got here (we live only 3 blocks away from a hospital) the paramedics found Brit passed out and were unable to revive her. She had a weak pulse and was totally gray. They took her to the local hospital, where she remains though they may still send her down to the University for better treatment.~

She became stable enough to transport her to the University Hospital, and from there on, her progress has been posted for all of us to see.

ahh fuck, i tried to post something on my break earlier... the computer fucked up... I thought maybe it posted itself anyway, but no.

Anyway.

I think the candle idea is great, I'm going to light one when I get home. This whole thing is like a stone weighing on me... even when I am not thinking about it, I still feel like something is just so terribly wrong. Ants needs its Brit. I am hoping, wishing, and praying for all of this to be just a horrible scare. And I'll tell you this much... I am not a praying woman. But I have prayed for Brit. Just in case it may help, even in some small way... she needs us more than ever, and since there is not much else I can do, I have kept her in my thoughts.

I feel like I should put a smiley thing here, maybe a :hug or a :o, but none of them seem appropriate.

brit agreed to the chest tube... it will relieve the fluid on her lungs and ease up how hard her heart is having to work. she's scared but (and i quote) the love of her friends is giving her the courage to do this.

It was a thing that I felt was right to do. I also have several candles lit in the house right now. We are playing in the dark by candle light. It's quite cool, but that's not the purpose. Not everone I am with knows what is going on, but I do, and that's what I'm thinking about. I don't know Brit, but from what I've read, she is a person that the world is better with, so I'm thinking about this, as I go to pick up my guitar........

Even though I don't know you Brit, it really hurts me to hear this and I hope that everything goes okay for you. After going through this thread and looking at the pictures of her smiling and happy I started smiling at seeing someone I've never even met before happy. Being in the hospital sucks, but the most important thing is to be postive about it all, which it seems you are. I really hope you get better and I'm sure you can since everyone here has so much hope for you. Pray to what you think is right. It doesn't matter what you were raised as, what people tell you is right. Pray to a figure of strength for yourself, and that strength will find it's way to the people who need it the most. Tolerance, understanding, acceptance, and faith (religious or not) are what get's us through. Sorry to go on a bit of a tangent in Brit's thread, but I felt it was relevant. Candle still lit.....

Try going to the site with the vitual candles, right-click on the one you'd like to have as your avatar, and scroll down to "properties." Then highlight and copy the address to the image.

You can paste the address into your User CP in the "change avatar" section, and it will be set as your avatar.

Let me know if this helps. :)

Hello everyone. :)
Thank you for all of your support, prayers, and good vibes. We looked at the thread over at ants, and we are amazed and so pleased with all of the love and support. We've told Brit about it, and we hope to be able to show her sometime soon.
Brit is REALLY crabby today, so we are taking that as a good sign (she has energy to put into being mad). You guys have asked about a different song? We haven't asked her yet, but she has been really wanting to hear the gorge and central park. Her favorite songs being LIOG, Bartender, Satellite. She also loves So Damn Lucky from some devil. As well as Grey Street, thats always been a favorite. I would say anything upbeat and happy would be good. :) She loves Halloween but thats not exactly UPLIFTING, eh?
Brit is hanging in there today. Her breathing is a lot better with the chest tube, but she is very sore from all of the coughing, especially since they are forcing her to do some of it and she has no energy. She is unhappy with the location of the chest tube (like she had the choice), I believe her words were "I'll just lay in bed fucking naked, would that be easier? Go ahead, taking a fucking look, everyone else has." Poor girl, but I know she's feeling better because she can complain. They have been cleaning it and checking it quite a lot (more than I thought neccesary) but they are worried about infection. Any infection now and all of the progress would go down the drain.
They are working on getting the levels of her drugs worked out, to a good, functioning level. Her blood-oxygen level is still kind of low and she is still pretty pasty looking but doing better. She is on oxygen still. Since they placed the chest tube last night about 550cc of fluid have been collected. The doctors are concerned, they are going to do more chest x-rays this morning to see where the blood is coming from. Another blood transfusion may be in her future. Her temperature spiked around 4a.m. but is now steady at about 100.
Brit is talking a little bit, it hurts to talk too much. She is still very receptive hugs and listening to others though. And she is sleeping a lot. We will try to make some phone calls today, or get her on the computer or something. She is adamantly refusing to see anyone, including Jon's mom again but we think she needs some outside contact.

Sorry everyone, that this has taken me so long to get to. We are wearing thin, I fear. Exhaustion has set in with all of us and we are simply trying to make it by. I want to thank everyone for your continued support and good vibes, this friendship means the world.
Brit is still hanging in there, squeaking by I suppose. She is at least awake some of the time now, so it is easier for us to see and deal with. It is wonderful to be able to talk to her, to understand her thoughts, her sufferings, and her desire to live. She is in a lot of pain and is very tired but she is fighting. She has talked to us about being scared but wanting to make it. She was able to see the sunshine for awhile yesterday which made her smile and put her a little more at ease. She wants to see her babies, she misses her dogs horribly. We would like to take her home BUT with the chest tube in it will not be likely. She sends her love to all of the ants, and thanks everyone for your caring and love. It means a lot to her. She says to not bother with putting the energy into her (we beg to differ!) but instead spread it out into the world where it belongs. That sounds like Brit.
The chest tube is still collecting blood/fluids, to the tune of approx. 600 ccs every 24 hours. This is not a good thing, the doctors can't seem to get a handle on the bleeding. Because of that they are still trying to regulate the meds and are remaining guarded. Brit's temperature is bouncing between 100 and 101, so she is having a hard time fighting off infection. She is still on oxygen and still has rather labored breathing. Her heart is having to work hard still, not as hard as it had been, but still its working overtime. Last night Brit had a seizure and ripped the stitch keeping her chest tube in place. Thankfully the tube stayed where it was and was easily fixed. They were just concerned about the seizure, though thankfully it is the first one she's had since she has been hospitalized for this. And hopefully this will be the last one she has. Brit really needs a break right about now or she won't be able to keep on going we fear.
Sorry our phone calls got cut short yesterday; Brit got tired and fell asleep. We'll try for more today. With all the different time zones involved here, and Brit's weird hours she's been keeping (up for an hour, down for two type thing) we don't want to bother anyone. Brit sends her love though and misses everyone. She is still refusing visitors including Jon's mom but hopes no one takes offense. She is just really uncomfortable right now, and exhausted. We are continually trying to change her mind though, I promise. :)
