All of them make sense except Seek Up. Overall it's not a very difficult song. MAYBE the rhythm, but the song itself isn't complex at all. At least not near as difficult compared to the other ones you listed. Espeically R&R, Stone and Warehouse.

Agreed - Stone & Warehouse especially. WWYS, Billies, and Typical also helped a great deal on the singing-while-playing.

The Stone, Satellite is great for finger strength (I think it started as a finger exercise for Dave). Warehouse. Recently, OSW, Crash is another good one for working out your fingers. Pig is another one that helped me alot.

I believe you are thinking of the Intro to One Sweet World.

I think I read somwhere that Dave talked about how the After Her/Satellite riff evolved from a more basic finger exercise. I could be wrong.....

an awesome song that will make u sound better than u are is if u play spoon in like a classical style...it will teach u alot about plucking a few strings at once and it leaves a ton of room for improvosation...plus it sounds so money

Dave Brubeck Quartet - Take Five

I love playing that song- Ive got the first part figured out (Fm, Cm7) but I can only figure out bits and pieces of the middle section and end- Id like to know if there's a tab for it too...

This is a tough question, because I think almost everything you learn makes you better. The more you play, the easier it is to do things later on. But I'll try and stick to the question... :)

First of all, hardly using a pick for my first year or so of playing helped a lot with finger picking....but now, several years later, I'm still a bit uncomfortable with a pick because of that.

A lot of Dave's stuff helped me with speed/chord changes and stretching - Stone, You Never Know, Billies, Captain, Satellite, etc

errr...looking at David Gilmour's (Pink Floyd) solos helped me a bit to figure out what notes sound good at what time. Jimmy Page's solos helped me somewhat with speed 1% of the time, the other 99% of the time, they pissed me off because they were too annoying/tough to learn and didn't even sound good half the time... :) I'm still really working on soloing/improv.

Hmm, since most people named Dave songs I'll think of a few not.. Blackbird - Beatles, helped with fingerpicking, Over the Hills and Far Away - Led Zeppelin, just a great riff to play.

Just to clarify, I meant Page :D

Those are really good ones as well, I was honestly going to mention both songs.

Learning all of Shine on You Crazy Diamond helped me a lot. A lot of different stuff goes on during the song and it's cool to switch back and forth between more rhythm styles, riffing and soloing.

Babe I'm Gonna Leave You was a great song to improve my fingerpicking.

As for Dave stuff, I think most of their songs are great for improving finger dexterity, especially songs like Satellite and The Stone.

wharehouse, that song recreated the way I play my own rythm. I can play it for hours, and still love spawning different improvs off of that song.

the first song i learned to play was what would you say...and honestly i didnt consider that very hard...then i tried going for faster songs like warehouse ...later on i began listening to classic rock and that got me into soloing alot more...thunderstruck is a good finger technique(tiring after a while) learned mostly rolling stones, zeppelin, ac/dc, beatles, deep purple, pretty much anything that had a tune or sounded worthwile playing

SMTS...

As for singing and playing, the only tip is to practice. I'm sure you've heard it before, but there aren't any videos on it, or any secret techniques the pros use. It isn't easy. Start with a song like Crash for example, which you probably know the words backwards and forwards to, and go from there. Try to play along with D+T or something.
