hey all, i've been itchin to record this for months, and finally bought some studio headphones to do so. anyways, it's not the hardest song in the world (Times Like These) but it's my first time singing and playing. I forgot the ending slides so I didn't play them.

you need to make it sound more like JJ. your just strumming without the muting and skanking sounds that he makes.

John...

Sounds good man. What's your setup? Just curious...

Also, I dig the voioce but you sounded a little timid and maybe nervous... that will usually go away the more times you record. When I first started recording I just closed my eyes and forgot the mic was there... it made a world of difference. Keep it up bro!

i got an alvarez rd20s acoustic with a fishman neo-d soundhole pickup, and i just use a computer mic :lol

timid, yeah i am, it was the first time doing both guitar and words so i was a bit nervous. i don't really know my range yet so thats a factor too

id say learn the guitar part better, then sing

what more is there to learn? besides the weird upstrokes he throws in

it would sound better if you strummed through the whole song instead of just hitting the note and there being a pause is what i meant i guess

Excellent tune, kinda a tough one though for your first time playing and singing, you definitely need to sing from your gut, it sounds like your almost just talking the words

You are pretty much right on with the guitar just a bit more feeling would be good, this tune is meant to be jammed with some emphatic strokes and don't be afraid to hit those high notes on the barre chords

Just my .02

yeah i know what you mean, i dont know though, there's something he throws in after the slap and strum, i dont know if he stays on the same chord or what.

i know to sing from my gut, but it's hard the 1st time you do it.

as for the open high strings, maybe thats what im lacking during the pauses?
