i just got back from the guitar center with my new taylor 110. srp on the taylor website is 748, i got mine for 550 including case. i've been playing for a year now with an entry level yamaha and the sound quality is exponentially better.
i figured i'd write this for anyone who happens to be buying a new guitar: if youre paying 2000, go ahead and get a martin. but the martins in the 400-600 range really werent anything special. it seemed like those cheaper martins were selling the martin name, rather than a true quality martin guitar. i played the taylor 110 as well as a martin dxm and the martin didnt even compare.
also- the people at the guitar center were incredibly helpful- cough much better than sam ash cough.
peace- im off to play

i agree 100%. i have a taylor 110, and im THRILLED at how awesome it is. im absolutly in love with this guitar. i did alot of research before i bought it and this guitar sounded better than EVERY martin guitar under $2500. buy this guitar... not to mention it sounds alike to taylor guitars 110-514, in my opinion.

CPTN - Taylors and Martins are supposed to sound different. They are nothing alike and should not be expected to perform like one another.

Congrats on your new guitar, Matt. I hope it brings you years of happiness!
