hey everyone, i just found this interesting so I decided to post. ya its like 2 in the morning , but i think this is kind of interesting.

its interesting to notice some similarities in Daves writing style. if someone said name 3 DMB songs that are epic, 3 that would certainly come to mind are Dreaming Tree, Seek up and Bartender. while all three are definately great songs, they are very similar structuraly.
they each start out with guitar riffs that repeat until the lyrics kick in. during the song they all go from high points to an actual stop in the music. for example

dreaming tree (wont you speak please ::silence:: )
seek up (the devils now going haha ::silence::
bartender (doesnt quite stop, but after the bended knee part it gets quiet)

then after the lyrics are done they all break into new jams where dave often does some yelling. and eventually they kind of just fade out till the end.

just thought that it was pretty interesting. let this be a lesson to those wanting to write epic songs, you gotta yell

I kind of see what you are saying. However, the lyrical styles in each is very unique. Bartender is more repetitive, Dreaming Tree is like a story, and Seek Up is just well, amazing f-ing lyrics.

ya the lyrics are different for sure, but theyve all got the 3 part structure.

by the way, does anyone know if dave writes lyrics and then puts in the music, or if he writes the music first?

I think he writes the music first and then the lyrics, that's why some lyrics change so much.
