My favorite thing about Eagles fans is that they chant E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES at all sporting events. I was at an Orioles v Phillies baseball game in Baltimore and kept hearing it. I've also heard it several times at Caps v Flyers games in DC.

His point was that it is all that matters to us. The fact that we haven't won it and haven't gotten there in 24 years is irrelevant to that point. If we don't make it for the next 50 years, it will still be all that matters to an Eagles fan. What some guy from Havana or anywhere else thinks of our city or our chant is not what matters to us. Keep hating it, we don't care.

As an Eagles fan and NY Rangers fan, I can fully support that from both sides. Flyers fans are insanely loyal... and insane in general :) I give them credit, they love their teams and stick by 'em. Granted, they don't hesitate to rip them apart on the AM talk station when there's a problem, but that's because they're such hardcore fans. I give 'em a lot of credit. True. I am excited for this season, but I am not convinced that this team has what it takes to win the NFC. We have questions at the corners, and depth problems at running back. You don't have to attend a Philly game to know that most of the fan base are arrogant assholes. You hear it from visiting fans where they tell stories of how they were harrased by Philly fans, or when you're at the Sixers game I was and see some guy being a prick to another because he's not there to support the Sixers and the person who brought you to the game turns to you and says "Its quite sad when most of the Philly fans are assholes".
watchtower86
08-19-2004, 05:53 PM
i think wed all be very pleased if you all made your own threads. see the thing is though, philly sports have bigger fan bases than the other teams, such as all the tampa teams that los loves, or the panthers. therefore those threads would die. im not taking anything away from those teams, but its the fact that all these threads would die is the reason you all insist on raiding our team's thread

actually you do have to attend a philly game to realize the fact that we're not all arrogant assholes. quite frankly, most visiting fans are pleasantly suprised at the fact that the fans are not arrogant assholes. such as all the panther fans i met at last years NFC championship game. you just happened to meet one of the assholes.
speaking of harrassment, not saying the person you went with did this, but if a fan is there and is clearly cheering the other team loudly and obnoxiously, then yes, you deserve to be heckled. that goes for any city.
furthermore, if you think philly fans are rude, just go to a NY game. yes, im stereotyping now, but at least 75% of all the new yorkers i come in contact with are assholes who expect everything to be their way, and to get what they want when they want. we'll yell and scream during games, but at least we're not gonna be a complete dick to anyone around during the game

I am not basing all of my feelings on that game, but at this point, it is the only game we have to go by. I guess the fact that we were playing the Patriots made it harder to swallow. Here is a team that has won 2 of the last 3 super bowls. They are where we want to be. Didn't you notice a difference in the level of preparedness of the 2 teams. Sure, its only the first preseason game, but it was for NE as well. Why is it that we look so good and we look so bad? I don't expect to look great out there, but maybe our offense could get a touchdown. Is that a lot to ask? You say that I can't base anything off of that game. I think that some things can be taken from it.

I may live in philly, but i tell you i am born and raised in Baltimore, so i'm a o's/ravens fan at heart. The Eagles will screw up again this season. It is their way, it is inevitable.
Going by your logic, 27 teams will screw up. Only 1 will win. I have some news for you, it isn't going to be the Ravens.

I'm sorry, please take one second to reread my post, does it mention anything about the Ravens winning the superbowl? No, it doesn't. My point is, the Eagles have been and are a team with alot of talent, more talent than most teams in the NFL. Enough talent that they should've won the superbowl the past couple years. Fact of the matter is, THEY CHOKE. They cannot maintain momentum to tough it out. It is always someone who screws it up for them. That last game the Eagles played last season was pathetic, they all looked like a bunch of weenies who didn't even want to be there.

Also the year before the Eagles beat tampa. AND they had dominated tampa for the past few years. AND tampa never won a game when it was below freezing and they played the NFC championship in philly with freezing temp and the eagles lost.
The Steelers will NOT win the AFC.

i want to preface this statement by saying that i don't think that D.McNabb is the best QB in the league.
i just want one of the Manning supporters to name for me one big game that man has won. even dating back to college, the man never won a big game. he will be one of the all time statistical passers, but he will never win a ring. he will be the dan marino of this era.
then again, mcnabb hasnt won the big game yet either. we've lost three years in a row. until we win it, im still not gonna bad mouth peyton
o and GO BIRDS 10-1

the eagles stuck it to us, no doubt. but so has every other team. i would put a blind secondary in a football game before i would put the packers' in. i wouldnt say this was a statment game, cause if you are excited about beating the mediocre packers there is a problem. one more thing.....what will it be like watching the eagles NOT win it all AGAIN???

yes the nfc is suspect this year, but its not the eagles year man. the packers wont do shit at all. the eagles will make it a little further but they will come up empty without a doubt.
and to the person that said sour grapes, what am i sour about? we got our asses kicked all over the field and i acknowledged it? the eagles are better than us without a doubt.

they are the best bets but i could see someone else winning it all. mcnabb just cant get it done when it matters. hes not a winner and at the end of the day thats all that matters.

I thought the game was a great. As a Redskins fan, this season as well as the last ten years have been a complete disappointment. But I thought it was a great game. Hard hitting, close game. It was a slug-fest. I'm just glad that Sean Springs is going to be ok. Watching the local Skins post-game report, they said that he was knocked out, and that he had a concussion. They just took him to a hospital here in VA for more cat scans of his neck and head. Just about a half hour ago he went to the hospital and was still strapped down to the board, but that was all precautionary, so they say. Apparently he was making jokes in the training room to ease the tension for his teammates, who supposedly were more upset than he was

I was a little scared but YEAHHHHHHH Philly...
and even if they don't make the Super Bowl (which they will), I'd say three years in a row at the NFC Championship ain't too damn bad.:bounce

There was no way that they were going to get up for this game after last week. No team gets up for all 16 games. They got the win and that's all that matters. Bring on Dallas!

The Eagles will clinch homefield advantage with Atlanta losing to Carolina on Saturday OR by beating Dallas Sunday. Either way they will get to basically rest up the last two weeks of the season (play the starters the first half then put in the backups). Plus they have a bye week to start the playoffs. So everyone should be healthy and ready to knock out those last three wins in the playoffs and bring home our first Superbowl!! There is no way anyone in the NFC is gonna stop the Eagles this year. The only tough game they might lose the rest of the year is the Superbowl. Bring on Pitt/NE/Indy/SD in Jacksonville!!!

Man, this game last night just goes to show that once the Redskins figure out how to make the offense work, they will be unstoppable. The defense was amazing last night. Sean Taylor is unbelievable. If Arrington was in there as well, I can only imagine how exciting it would be to watch them play.
