Since Liriano didn't last long tonight, why not start Humber Sunday so we could use Liriano against the White Sox? We probably won't be in it then, but I'll at least feel better if we start our best against them...

Folks, there is still fight left in this team. I don't think they want this season to end yet. Sure the pitching isn't there but with all of these comebacks its hard to deny that there isn't a hint of an extra effort out there.

Lets go Twins!

I hate to say it but they are still done. Sure 1.5, but really it's two games. The starting pitching and bullpen is crap. Given the rotation and bullpen there's no way they win the division. It's over.

I figured thisd be a tough one for us, but still disapointed. Young qbs, what do you do? I mean, we fumbled 7 times? We do that every game! Thats unacceptable.

Looks like we gotta run the table (and I think we will).

I wasn't able to listen to the game, but a 9-6 loss? It's so unusual to see this sort of ineptitude on offense from an SJU squad. Bethel seems to be on the downswing as well, they were losing 10-0 to Carleton.

not true. we sweep cws, then we both sweep our respective next opponents its a .5 game difference and, in that case, cws plays cle or det in a one game playoff, they win that and we're out without playing a post-season game...

alright, I honestly cried laughing at that. I may have been a little stoned earlier, but.... it was really funny.

UH, the reason theres a 1-game disparity between the two is that one of the cws games was cancelled and not made up; it was against det. If theres a .5-game difference between us and cws, cws makes that game up next Monday we're out if they win if they're up .5 and they'reout if they lose down .5. If we're tied after that its a 1-gamer at their place Tuesday.

Scary, I know. But REALLY exciting, I think.

I can't measure confidence like I can games behind, it's merely an observation. Losing tonight could send them down a road where they feel they need to act hastily and could therefore set them back.

Edit: I'm not saying they can't/won't make the playoffs, but the road they will have to take there will be heavily determined by the outcome of this game.

The last time the White Sox played here, on July 31, Guillen pulled his players off the field after fans threw bottles and hats onto the turf. The Twins won three out of four in that series, pulling to within a half-game in the division. The next day Williams told reporters that he was, ''never going [to the Metrodome]. Bad things happen whenever I go up there. Twelve more games [until the Twins get a new ballpark in 2010]. Twelve more games.''

Jr's swing is still sexy.

I could have done without the standing and watching it leave when you're down 9-1 but you are correct. It is still one of the nicest swings to watch. Oh what could have been for Junior had he stayed healthy. He passed Sosa on the carrer list last night with 610. I don't know if he'd be challenging Bonds at this point but he'd certainly be knocking on Ruth's door step.

My main reason for optimism is Ozzie's decision to jack up his rotation. 3-days rest, followed immediately by 4? Crazy talk! If the Twins win the division I hope that gets discussed because that would be THE main reason the Sox fell. But, its not over yet and it could work out for him. Decidedly has not so far :D

Well yeah, of course it's why.

And don't be too confident with your precious twins.

I'd tell you the same, but I'm not sure it is possible to be too confident in the Cubs with the whole 90 years thing.

Well yeah, of course it's why.

And don't be too confident with your precious twins.

a) I submit that its more likely the Twins make the playoffs than we see an all Chicago series (care to disagree? :lol) and, b) I havent and dont expect the Twins to make the playoffs this year. If they do its gravy. In that sense, I put no confidence in my 'precious Twins', as you assume. Seems like you put quite a bit of 'confidence' in your city though. good luck with that. I implore you to come in here over the next few weeks, regardless of outcome. I assure you that you'll find a very welcoming and conciliatory group if you lose, even in the face of your prickliness.

(ps, your super-defensive and aggressive attitude in here is the main reason why people currently hate Red Sox fans and why we'll hate Cubs fans if you ever win a world series. Itd be nice to see one of these 'tortured' fan bases win with some fucking dignity. I dont expect to ever see that though, as I posit that the amount of self-loathing you 'tortured' fan bases indulge in when you lose (which is really weak, by the way) is equal and opposite to the overbearing, chest-pounding reaction when you win. But you just keep on keepin' on...)

If the twins make the playoffs there cannot be an all chicago series. The sox will be out.

And if you guys do make the playoffs it is out in round 1.

All I said was it would be cool to see two Chicago Teams make it, and then you like shit your pants. Calm down. Twins aren't going anywhere.

I dont like Gordon.

Baptiste, dont be fooled, there have been 2 twins errors this inning, Span in right on the Thome fly and Bushcer at thirdon the ramirez grounder.

and while I write this:

Disaster.

FUCK.

bigeyefish22

considering the situation, that may have been the worst half inning of my life. How I scored it:

2 hits, 3 errors, bb, hbp, 6 runs, slowey done for the year (thats my guess, but Im almost certain.).

Nick@Night
09-25-2008, 09:41 PM
They are taking Slowey to HCMC to get some x-rays, he got smoked with that line drive. When he went to throw to first, a combination of his arm probably hurting like hell and his back leg slipped a little bit so the throw got away.

Yeah, that was on Slowey, the play Buscher didn't make was an infield hit. He charged the ball, got it in his glove and when he went to throw he didn't have it so he just ate it and let the guy get on first while a run scored.
