i like the idea of opening up with grey street. dmb opened merriweather this year with grey street and it really set the mood.

As much as you may get chided for having mainly only DMB and Phish on there, I applaud the effort of two acoustic guitars and drums doing Heavy Things, Character Zero and Mike's Song. Heavy Things especially, that's the first Phish song I learned on guitar. Do you guys just play the chords and then go through an improv solo at the end? Regardless, very cool. :thumbsup

planning a segue is a BAD idea. just let it flow.

It's only a bad idea when it doesn't work... the only planned segue that I've failed is LIOG -> Granny -> LIOG reprise. It was kind of planned as I was in the middle of the LIOG verse and I had thought about it before. Not so good.

Dave opening and closing with #41 & Ants is entirely different from a cover.

Let's be honest were not Dave, you ain't getting any crowd eruption close to him, (obviously)

IMO: open and close with tunes that you know you will tear up guitar wise and vocals. You wanna grab the audiences attention ASAP.

everybody thanks for your input!

We played last night actually and it turned out very cool. Of course we had our minor glitches but #41 was very tight, ants rocked and everybody sang along and character zero was truly amazing for having acoustic guitars. I played some easy but very cool sounding slide solos on top of the rythm and the two guitars had a sort of battle if u wanna call it that while the other picked up the rythm. All in all it was fun and we got great reactions. Many asked if we'd perorm at parties later in the summer so i guess we'll keep working on it. And as for the segue it went very nicely because the original song and mike's song had very similiar rythms, not chords though. Agaoin thanks for your help and i'll keep you updated if we continue and prbably ask for suggestions too!
