speaks again.
(save the Bush jokes)
Illinois Republican Senate candidate Alan Keyes labeled homosexuality "selfish hedonism" and said Vice President Dick Cheney's lesbian daughter is a sinner.
The former talk show host who has made two unsuccessful runs for the White House made the comments Monday night in an interview with Sirius OutQ, a satellite radio station that provides programming aimed at gays and lesbians.
After saying homosexuality is "selfish hedonism," Keyes was asked if that made Mary Cheney "a selfish hedonist."
"Of course she is," Keyes replied. "That goes by definition." Liz Cheney, Mary's sister, refused to comment Wednesday during an interview on CNN.
"I guess I'm surprised, frankly, that you would even repeat the quote, and I'm not going to dignify it with a comment," she told the interviewer.

What has Alan Keyes ever done, except run for president and lose? I hope Obama destroys him in the election. Maybe then he will finally go away forever.

As Neal Boortz said today:
ALAN KEYES HAS LOST HIS MIND
Whatever remote chance Alan Keyes had of defeating Barack Obama in the race for Senate in Illinois has now evaporated. I'm not sure where he's getting his political advice, or if he's even listening to anyone, but he's said something really stupid again.
Awhile back, he said that Obama's views on abortion were "the slaveholder's position." Nice...just what people are looking for in a candidate for Senate. But now he's completely gone off his rocker. The latest? He has called Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter Mary Cheney a "selfish hedonist" because she is a lesbian. That's nice. Mr. Keyes apparently is aiming for 15-20% of the vote in this race.
Contributing to the Alan Keyes for Senate campaign just might be the biggest waste of money since the pet rock --- or Bill Clinton's legal defense fund.

I thought this thread was about Jesse Jackson

I thought this thread was about Jesse Jackson I think he got more votes when he ran to be the democratic nominee in the 80s than Keyes did in both elections.
"On Tuesday, Keyes defended his remarks, adding that if his daughter were a lesbian, he would tell her she was committing a sin and should pray about it."
:lol
What great advice Alan.

consider this: you know who alan keys is, but he has no idea who you are. therefore his career has been more successful than yours, even if it has been a total failure, as you say.

That's somewhat flawed logic.
I know who Ted Bundy is. It doesn't mean I want to be him, or that he's more successful than me.

as a criminal, ted bundy has had a pretty successful career... I never said you'd want to be him or that he has been successful in a good way. just successful at what he set out to do. therefore the logic is not flawed at all.

So you can only be considered successful if you are known on a national level?
That makes a lot of sense. :thumbsup

you said his career was, if I remember it correctly, "a miserable failure?" Obviously this isn't true. I never said you had to be known on a national level to be successful, I said that if you're known on a national level, you're not a miserable failure.

I never said you had to be known on a national level to be successful, I said that if you're known on a national level, you're not a miserable failure. When the only reason you are known is because you ran for president twice and lost, had a failed television show and are now losing by like 80% in the present election, I'd say there isn't much to be proud of.
But if you want to play semantics, and say he is more successful than me...go for it. I'll take my successes (even though he doesn't know me!) over his anyday.
And good attempt at trying to turn this thread away from his obvious stupidity. I had Fox on before and no one could even come to his defense. I wonder if he'll give his concession speech in a suit or his ever popular sweater vest.

a lot of people run for president and lose -- every four years hundreds of people run for president. to say you're a total failure if you've lost shows a big lack of perspective. consider alan keyes successes:
UN ambassador to Ronald Reagan
President of Alabama A&M University
State Dept Member
Assistant Secretary of State for International Policy
yeah, a real failure, huh?

I don't support him, but I am objective enough to recognize that he is not a total failure.

He reminds me of Morpheus for several reasons. Because he is 1) black, his ideas are 2) crackpot, and 3) he can deliver a speech like it's his last day on earth.
