View Full Version : Political Forums Suck....

I am sick of this forum already, all it does is turn people against one another. I think we have a big enough problem with that already in our country. This is why American politics suck, because basically the gov't is completely divided. Whatever happened to UNITED WE STAND???
I agree. There is absolutely no point to politics. I've heard the arguments about differing viewpoints, but it's bullshit. Nobody thinks for themselves, and they all pay themselves off to the highest bidder in order to get re-elected and continue to get fat. Fuck the lot of them.
Yeah, it's definitely the complete fault of this forum, and only this forum, that people turn against eachother.

This is the whole point. The forum, while it may appear to (or does) foster political talk, is designed to keep it out of the eye of those that don't want to be a part of it.
In all actuality, sir, it's well documented that friendships can dissolve over politics. It's unfortunate, but people often do let their feelings for politics overwhem their sensibilities. They will destroy a friendship over something they have little or no control over. Will it happen here? Most likely. Animosity between people will spill out into other forums with jibes and underhanded comments based on a prior political sparring match. What happens then? Isolate the individuals? Close the forum? It will be entertaining to watch, at the very least.

you must be reading something different than what I said, cause I think what i said is, its a big enough problem already, and this will only help us grow apart. The government has us seperated already, this just continues that trend, good work men....

Nothing is going to change by creating a seperate forum. It just keeps the threads out of view of those that don't want to see it. Those that post here were going to post anyway, those that argue here were going to argue anyway, etc. There isn't anything we can do about it. This way it's only a part of those that choose to view the forum.

But relationships among fellow Ants have dissolved over much simpler subjects. I am not going to get into the specifics, cause it is personal, but you can't just blame it on politics. I mean, people can stop speaking to each other while arguing over the best Jimi Thing, damn it! :lol So if you don't like it... Look away.
Happy Voting!:hug
If a friendship dissolves over a political debate, that's neither the fault of the messageboard as a whole or a specific forum created solely to organize topics.
I'm not going to rise to your bait- you'd love an excuse. You're right- you always are, and nobody will ever change your mind. It's nice to have a spirited debate, but not against one without spirit.
You realize you guys are now arguing about arguing about politics?? When will it end!!

DISCLAIMER:
This is in no way a slam against democrats. Just Ted Kennedy. Remember, I campaigned for Paul Wellstone.

funny how common this point is, and yet people still think they are "thinking for themselves"

they're as divisive as you want them to be. it's plenty possible for people to just express their views without being forceful or nasty about it. i like political debates but im not going to end a friendship over politics unless that friend says "all <insert race here> people should die." or something along those lines.

lol, oddly now that there's a label on it, i'm probably going to participate less. this feels contrived, but if it makes me stay away from political threads, all the better i suppose.

Some of my best friends and family members disagree with me politically and I still love them. If someone stops talking to you because of how you feel politically your relationship was probably pretty shitty anyway. I think we need to talk about this stuff and we need to hear opposing opinions. There are many people at Ants I disagree with but totally respect (cyberhound for example). I like having my ideas challenged. It helps me refine them and see the nuance in them. It is a bad idea to avoid these discussions. If you can't disagree with someone without feeling hatred for them you need to get help.

I wasn't a political person till I started at my new work. I think it's okay for some people to talk about politics and it's not for others. And 50% of comments which involve politics are usually negative. I like to think when I post something I'm not pointing my fingers at someone so as to hurt their feelings. But it doesn't hurt my feelings if someone points at me.:thumbsup

American politics is less divided than in most countries. Go to Europe for a few years and America will soon look like a one party system where everyone gets along peachy (or something like that)

never will American politics look like a one party system, unless of course good ole GW turns us into a communist country, which would not suprise me...

You've heard of the term Republicrats, right? This country comes closer to a one party system each year.

I could see the real Bush saying that. Everything else that comes out of his mouth is stupid. Mr. Malaprop leads our nation into economic hell.

Bush and Cheney are going to win in a landside and all the liberals out there now it!!! Kerry right now has no momentum. He didn't even get a bounce in the polls after his convention. However, Bush did get a bounce in the polls, but the media (liberal media) is trying to down play it.

I hope they die in a landslide, not win :violent
