I'm not a big Bush fan really but my gut really tells me he's going to get re-elected. I'm voting for Kerry anyway but I just have that feeling ya know? So even though I should probably leave this question for after the election but.....

Would G Dubya have any chance of re-election had he not went into Iraq? In my honest opinion after 9/11 if he didn't target someone (anyone) and say "WHOOP! We got one fellers!" he really would have absolutly no chance. I will admit that Iraq was on it's way to WMD construction but I will also say I would GUESS we probably had about a decade to plan this out to where we wouldn't be "outta this world" in debt. 200 bil and counting..........for this? Excuse me if I sound too much like Kerry but it kinda just hits me as common sense. Just thought this would be something great for you guys to think and comment on. I just hope I get one of those crazy fanatic posters that goes all crazy. :evil

Oh and I'm sure there's plenty of info I must really seem ignorant about so make sure you "enlighten" me please.

I dunno, If you think about it the only thing that caused Bush any grief during his presidency it's the devisiveness of the war in Iraq. Before Iraq Bush's aproval ratings were in the 70's and 80's. THis is because he took care of Afghanistan and he did it with the support of the UN and the rest of the world.

Yeah, I think you are right. I think that the Iraq mess probably worked against Bush to a certain extent. I for one approved thought that after 9/11, we went over into Afghanistan. It made sense and seemed rational. IMO, the Iraq thing just did not make sense at the time. Nor does it make sense to me now what the ratio of troops in Iraq is to Afghanistan, considering Al Qaeda is apparently still a threat.

So, I think that the war in Iraq probably hurt the image of Bush somewhat. I don't know if it is enough to change the outcome of things, but I think it definitely tarnished his image somewhat.

I just see that there are so many families in this country who are worried about staying safe through these scary times since 9/11 and Bush has followed through w/ this and we haven't had an attack since. Also, he has some very religous tones w/ the war on terror which bottom line strikes a chord w/ so much of the public also. I just can't see Kerry overcoming this and being the next president. 4 more years!! I support him.

While I agree, I gotta say that this is a moot point since we're really already outta this world in debt ;)

yup - my point exactly :thumbsup. it's not just ugly from Bush... or Clinton... or Bush.... or Reagan... certainly not just from the Iraq conflict. It was a problem before, and sure, its worse, but that's like the difference between me being $1,000,000 in debt or $100,000,000 in debt - it's still so huge it's ridiculous, and it's not just from Iraq

something like half of the national debt is from citizens who have rung up a shit ton of money on their credit cards and dont pay it back and also those who default on their loans. to say that the national debt is all on the government is sad because people need to be more responsible for their actions with money and not blame the government for running deficits all the time or place balme on the war on terrorism. just another comment is that i dont think that bush should have wanted to have the tax cuts be permanant but to let them float to adjust to the times when you need them to be higher and times when you can give back what wasnt spent...also i feel the government should pay down their part of the debt as much as they are able to within a reasonable time period.
