View Full Version : Kerry ahead in electoral college

John Kerry has quietly gained momentum in the last few days. Check out electoral-vote.com for today's new poll results. Kerry has pulled to a slight lead in Pennsylvania, and Bushhas lost consideable ground in Missouri, which was once solid for him. Bush's lead is razor thin in Virginia and North Carolina, which were both solid Bush states in 2000. So see for yourself. Things are looking up, and DMB is on the way!!

the electoral college is not counted until like a week after the election... therefore, nobody is ahead in the 'electoral college'... people may be ahead in polls (which have absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of the election).

What I meant was, as far as electoral votes are concerned, Kerry has more projected electoral votes. Go to the website.

I went to the site and was searching for a percent error on any one of the studies and couldn't find one. This really can't be trusted.

Crap like this is like pregame analysis. The only thing that has any meaning is the election itself.

polls are stupid... skewed... and mean nothing right, because last week, there was one that said bush was ahead in projected electoral college

Kerry is also trying to get electoral votes in Colorado given out on the percentage of votes recieved. Could be very interesting.

with the election being as close as it is predicted to be, i bet those extra divided votes (maine, nebraska i think already do this. i know 2 states do.) from colorado decided who is in the white house

The electoral college is a big scam! It needs to be abolished!

Umm, how exactly does the link you provided support your comments? This particular article is directed at the election of Congress which is not done through the electoral college but by direct popular election. The electoral college actually protects minority opinions in the smaller states by weighting the states so that the smaller ones have a voice. Something they would not have if the President were elected by direct election.

I stopped reading the article when it said that socialists are communists.

That's because they aren't using their own polls, they are using the most recent polls available from each state. You would have to take his links to those polls to find the error probability.

This is interesting . Seems Bush is a head in most polls now. Some even being double digit leads.

I wouldn't take this seriously, I live in Jersey and it says it is slightly for Bush... if anything its for Kerry, although I heard it might be a closer race then people think but still Kerry will it out hopefully.

Really? You don't take it seriously? If you are that confident in your candidate, why do you feel the need to push him here everyday?

The electoral college actually protects minority opinions...

that doesn't sound like a democracy.

Well yeah, considering the United States is Constitutional Republic and not a democracy...

what does that mean?
To put it simply, though we have representative government that uses some democratic processes, our government and the will of the people is limited by the constitution.

As much as I disagree with cyberhound, it's true that America is not a true democracy.

On a side note, you're 60 posts from your true count: 6666 ;)

thanks, now i know, here's a link:

it seems like we're always getting hit over the head with "democracy this and democracy that" and "United" states, kinda of a misnomer.

Wasn't trying to be. I just don't understand your need to push him everyday if you are so confident.

Im not confident nationally, locally within my state I am very confident... so much so that I would vote 3rd party because I would rather vote for other people then these candidates. Kerry is better then Bush in my opinion and since this website has a forum, I feel like I deserve the right to state my beliefs.... if that is ok.

Sure it's ok. As long as the owners of this site say it's ok. Remember, you have no freedom of speech here.
