I did an IP look up and the company that owns it isn't disney...all Lost official sites have the Disney terms and use agreement on it. Though they could be creating fake companies to put some of these out there...somehow i doubt it though.

Ok, so it finally hit me like a ton of bricks where I recognized Bernard from. He's the principle from Forrest Gump...

Yea, one of MANY many parts. Also Mike Seaver's school principal from GROWING PAINS as was mentioned earlier. He used to have a small recurring role on ER (as a Cardiologist, I believe). He's one of a bunch of character actors like 50 yrs old and above that, if a series is on TV long enough, they pretty much ALL end up guest starring on it at one point or another (I'm sure he likely did parts on X-FILES, NYPD BLUE, etc....) :)

Yea, I kinda was thinking that too. Or at least even from the point of view of Sawyer, frankly I was surprised he obliged her as much as he did. Especially a moment like they come up to the door and he says something and she's like "What did I tell you?!" (as in to not speak unless spoken to) I woulda been like "blah blah blah, fuck you beeyotch" :p What's she gonna do, actually shoot him? I doubt it.
being shot, then being in salt water, then having the bullet removed without anesthesia, then being in a mud pit -> pretty darn sore. that could lessen his motivation to act out esp after she stomped on it a bunch.
i think the rodriguez character is only a hard arse to those who act out...she seemed fine with the huge guy.
interesting how hurleys act of kindness/inability to cope with responsibility will seal the fate of the people on the island - without intervention they will have to forage in order to be able to survive long enough to push the button for a long time. interesting though that they thought there was only 3 months of food left.

Two things I stole from somewhere else...

How did the kwik-e-mart guy know that Hurley was the guy who bought the winning ticket?? He remembers what numbers his customers buy??

And there seems to be speculation that in flashbacks to the plane before the crash Rose's husband is black when he gets up to go to the bathroom and Jack then says "i'm here for you" or something.

Ok so the store owner knowing Hurley was the guy, doesnt the lottery know where and when a ticket is actually purchased, maybe this guy knew the time and remembered he was the only one who bought a ticket that night or he reviewed the security tape or maybe....?

We never actually saw Rose's husband in season one, he was already in the bathroom when Jack was talking with her on the plane

And whoever said that was Mr Belding, no way, its not him.

Now I have to rewatch the episode to see Walt on the milk cartion ,didnt catch that and also the symbol in the 2nd bunker

Cygnus is the swan constellation, I believe there is a southern cross constellation, and the straight line across I have no clue what that could be.

Sorry, I don't want to backread, but can I just say boo to the Jin speaking english being a dream. I expected a little more. Oh well. Alright, so what did we get last night? The back half of the plane has been living in another one of the hatches and most of them are gone for some reason. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they got "sick". Was anyone else not too impressed with Hurley's flashbacks? And what was with his friend getting pissed when he found he won? Weird. Oh yeah, and Kate in the shower... :hump I agree that it should've been Claire, though :hump :hump
So we've seen 3 different logos so far. I'm sticking to my guns and saying that all of the stations are on the island and we're probalby going to see all of them at one point.

I'm gonna say that it's not sickness that dwindled them down, due to the previews for next week.
I think that there were 23 people, and then some Others are slowly killing them off. Example 1: we had a body that was dead, and looked like a spear in it's chest. I only saw it for 2 seconds, so maybe it was something else. Example 2: our guys are hiding in the woods and some creepy zombie dudes are walking around hunting them. Sawyer says "The Others" at the end of the preview.

Thus, that's why I think it's not a sickness.

Be careful, that newnova.org is a Trap site. Most of the sites (torrentspy.com etc..) that don't make you sign up are torrent traps.

I finally downloaded last nights episode and watching it again, looking at the logo in the second hatch it actually looks like Dharma in the middle going left to right and also an arrow behind it pointing up
If you watch the downloaded video at about 29:16 (about a second before your screen cap you have there is a closer clearer view to the right of the screen,right over Lucia on the wall as she is walking just before the big room at the end) Sorry for some reason I cant screen cap it, I dont have a program to do it and windows print screen isnt working, please someone screen cap it

Yeah and the newnova site is exactly or pretty darn close to the old suprnova site. I had http://www.suprnova.org/ site still bookmarked and hit that link by mistake the other day and on on their front page it said that the dude that did the original suprnova site gave his source code to a friend who created the newnova site at http://www.newnova.org/list_news.html

mmmm yes :) She played the lead young hottie in a funny little indie comedy from a few years ago called "Wet Hot American Summer", though can't recall her name. It was set at a summer camp during the 80's. Looked much better in this though (also had a role in "RUNAWAY JURY", that's the other I can think of off the top my head)

Yea if you've ever got an actor that you know you've seen somewhere before but unsure -- I'm the human IMDB :D (basically useless baseball stats knowledge when I was teenager replaced in my brain by useless movie knowledge during my 20s).

That's possible, the old guy could conceivably be the real Sawyer just by virtue of the fact that obviously he's a con artist, but just FYI that's NOT what he said to Locke in that ep a couple weeks. Rather, he said "You think you're the first person ever to get conned?" And I believe he didn't mean it in terms of that he himself has conned a lot of people, but just rather that people get conned all the time.

INTRIGUING THEORY

Here's an interesting theory I just heard on this Transmission podcast. The theory stated that on last weeks episode with Locke's dad when he said "your're not the only one i've conned", that possibly Locke's dad is the real Sawyer that the island Sawyer has been looking for all along.
Dammit...I just listened to this on my way into work this morning. I was gonna post it and pass the theory off as my own. :BANG :BANG

I realize now it was a pic someone posted before your chart. But on your chart on your sketch of the logog, you prolly should put dharma for the middle line
I would think that all the logos will prolly have Dharma in the middle

Ha! This happened to me recently with both Maxim and Stuff. Back in July over the span of a week I got in the then-current issues of each, and also 2-3 recent backissues of each. I've never been so baffled (or thankful :D ) And no friends did it for a surprise. Most beneficial phone bank operator's tired keystroke error I'VE ever experienced :evil And it's the real deal, when each issue comes in the mail it's got the big imprinted mailing label down in the right hand corner and everything, including the spot where it says "June 06", indicating these were the starts of new 1 year subs :thumbsup

Yo fellow Lostralians. I have a small task I'd like to ask be done of whoever may have the s1 DVD set. A part of conversation recently either on here or privately with someone had me thinking specifically of the detail of the infamous numbers, and I realized that of all the s1 eps that had like really major importance in the mythology of the show, I remembered the least amount of detail about Hurley's numbers backstory, so I went and DL'd it. Well for one, god, the woman they got to play the wife of deceased Sam Toomy who lived out in the shack in the middle of nowhere -- could they have gotten someone to do a WORSE Aussie accent?? :ugh I'm almost positive she's an American actor, don't ask me how but I remember an "ER" episode she did once (what can I say, I'm a total movie geek and have a sick encyclopedia-like mind when it comes to actor's resumes, both famous and not so :p )

Anyhow this favor is a close captioning issue. After Jack, Sayid & Charlie have caught up to Hurley out in the woods (on his secret quest to go find Danielle), following along with the power line coming from the ocean they find a small man-made bridge. Sayid says he never saw this before when he was out there. Jack says there's now way she could've done it alone, Sayid suggests maybe her team built it. But then Charlie says something, which is both difficult to hear and the camera is on Hurley for it. And the way it's done, it's almost like they threw it in with ADR (additional dialogue recording for those who don't know, when they insert lines in post-production). I don't know, call me crazy but... I have an idea as to what I think he might've said, though I don't wanna say unless it turns out I'm write (since it's kinda.... out there :D ) There just seems to be something odd about it. I checked and I do'nt seem to have ability to use CC in the WMP. So if someone clan click that on when watching that scene from the ep, that'd be shweeeet :thumbsup

Yea I checked and it's what is said on screen. Usually english subtitles on DVDs are what is said on screen and isn't the broadcast CC that is used.

In the article it says that a major female character dies before the holidays. It says some more interesting stuff too about when the show actually occurs timewise and the story of what happened to all of the other people in the tail section will play a large part in the first third of the season.

I somehow doubt it would be claire...killing off a mother with a child on TV is just horrible (though that hasn't stopped ER on several occasions). Plus they still have to get into the whole dynamic with Charlie being tempted by the heroin again and the effects on claire. My bet is probably Sun or Rose...leaning towards Rose.

I realized driving home that I didn't know anything much about this spoiler source but the other sites I read all already were planning for it. So, :shrug Funny how it came out after Kristin's latest chat - again. Which makes me think it's reliable since people generally try to screw her.
They have been wrong in the past though...

Minor spoilers don't ruin that much for me. Knowing who it is that's gonna get bumped off doesn't mean I can't enjoy the whys and hows of it as they appear on screen. I mean, I knew weeks in advance, due to some minor spoilers and deductive reasoning, that Boone was gonna bite the bullet, but I thoroughly enjoyed the two episodes leading to his death anyway because of everything else that went on.

Seriously, isn't anyone even more disturbed about the fact that one of our crash survivors is about to become a murderer?

Dude, that in of itself is enough of a spoiler that I would rather not have known that. Hell as much as I was making fun of the spoiler button being used here the last couple days, I'd rather it get overused than something come out in the open that YOU don't feel is that revealing but I do. :( Even though you didn't give a name, I don't think I'm being unreasonable to say that knowing one of our heros is going to murder someone else is a significant enough spoiler in its own right. :thumbsdow

I've fallen down the hatch.

Locke, stock and barrel.

And it's weird, because I'm not that person. I get sucked into the occasional TV show, but I'm never the one who gets swallowed up in the mythology, the one who scours the online message boards for theories and connections and screen captures.

But then Lost crash-landed into my living room, and I became an object of my own ridicule.

The ABC hit drama tells the many-tangled stories of the survivors of a plane crash, who are stranded on a mysterious island. Their cohabitants include:

Polar bears (yes, polar bears on a tropical island; oh, what does it mean?)

Unseen monsters apparently the size of 18-wheelers

Unidentified beings referred to as The Others

An iron hatch that leads to a groovy 1970s pad filled with books, food and Mama Cass LPs

And a half-crazed, gun-toting French woman. (In a pear tree.)

While ABC was busy last season feeding the hype machine of Desperate Housewives, Lost was busily unfolding layer after layer of story and back story, tiny detail after tiny detail. And while Lost is still a few paces behind Housewives in the Nielsen ratings, the island show has all but eclipsed the women of Wisteria Lane in water-cooler buzz. (C'mon, do we really care who Alfre Woodard has shackled in her basement? I don't -- unless it turns out he was on Oceanic Flight 815.)

Lost is an entire island of unanswered questions, inhabited by people who all have their own traumatic or spooky back stories. Because of the flashback device, the layers of storytelling seem endless; and with it, the writers have discovered a cycle that's key to the show's addictiveness: Raise questions, answer a few, then raise new ones that cleverly contradict what you thought you knew.

Take Locke (Terry O'Quinn), the group's hunter/philosopher/former paraplegic. Last season we watched, in flashback, as he was dumped by a phone sex operator called Helen, with whom he deludedly thought he was having a "relationship." Poor, pathetic Locke. But this season, we meet a Helen (Katey Sagal) who actually was his girlfriend.

So naturally, we have questions.

The first one: Whaaa? Then: Is she the same as phone-sex Helen? Did Locke's hateful father hire Helen to keep Locke out of his life?

This is where you turn to the Lost online community: the fan sites, the message boards, and even the artfully clever sites launched by ABC and the show's creators. Yes, they're in on this, too.

And before you know it, those people are feeding your fathomless hunger for knowledge and conspiracy theories and freeze frames and streaming video, and it goes on and on until you're in so deep that your eagerness has turned to anxiety and your temples start to throb and you vow that you will give yourself water breaks and at the very least you will crawl back out on Wednesday when it's time for the next episode. Annnd ... repeat.

If you haven't delved into this land of Lost arcana yet, let us help sort some of this out.

Get a clue, or two, or three

One of the most popular endeavors among Lostphiles is searching for "clues" in the show. A clue can be an actual clue, or a weird, unknown character connection. This obsession has even infected USA Today, which last week started soliciting "clues" from readers. Creators have tossed in a ton of these clues for the fanatical. Call it TiVo candy. A sampling:

In Hurley's dream in the hatch, he's drinking a carton of milk. The "missing child" on the carton is Walt, who is currently MIA on the show. ([url="http://lost.cubit.net/pics/waltMissing.jpg"]http://lost.cubit.net/pics/waltMissing.jpg (http://www.dfw.com/images/common/spacer.gif))

Hurley's boss at Mr. Cluck's Chicken Shack was named Randy. So was Locke's at the box company; they were both played by the same actor, Billy Ray Gallion. In the episode where we learn the true nature of Boone and Shannon's relationship, a flashback has Boone making a complaint at an Australian police station. In the background, Sawyer is seen struggling with police officers.

The shark that stalks Sawyer and Michael on the raft is emblazoned with a logo for Dharma Initiatives, the research project responsible for the hatch.

Policeman, schmoliceman

Thank Lost for inflating the sales of an obscure 1967 book called The Third Policeman by Flann O'Brien. It made an appearance among the belongings of hatch-dweller Desmond. Before the episode even aired, Lost writers were blabbing to the press, saying that those familiar with the novel would "have a lot more ammunition" in examining the show's plotlines. The book is set in a two-dimensional, Byzantine police station where the rooms keep connecting to each other -- it's eternity. (Like, perhaps, our mysterious door-happy hatch?) Also, the narrator is a murderer who keeps reliving the same set of events over and over. Readers learn at the end of the book that he's been . . . dead the whole time. Cue spooky sound effects, then reject connection as a shameless red herring planted by writers.

Come again?

Rousseau: The woman Hurley refers to as "French chick," found the source of the numbers' transmission. After the rest of Rousseau's expedition was killed off, she erased that recording and replaced it with her own, which has now been repeating on a loop for 16 years. Translated from French, her transmission goes, in part: "If someone can hear this, they are dead. Please help us. I'll try to go to the black rock. It killed them. It killed them all. . . . It is outside, it is outside and Brandon took the keys. . . . Please help us. They are dead, they are all dead. Help us. They are dead."

Walt: The young son of Michael was kidnapped at sea in last season's finale. On this season's premiere, Walt (or his apparition?) visits Lostaway Shannon and speaks an unintelligible message to her. Lostphiles figured out how to reverse Walt's message: "Don't push the button, the button is bad." The Execute button on the computer in the hatch?

Airplane radio: Toward the end of last season, Boone climbed into the cockpit of the crashed plane, attempting to send out a message over the radio. When Boone said: "Hello. We're the survivors of Flight 815," a male voice crackled back over. It was barely audible, but close captioning reveals it: "WE are the survivors of Flight 815."

Where the bleep are they?

Last season, the theories swirled about this: It's purgatory. They're all dead. It's a dream. And they were all discounted by the show's creators, who insisted there was a reasonable explanation. Once inside the hatch this season, we've come closer to an answer. According to an instructional film inside, we learn that the underground facility was created in 1970 -- a "large-scale communo-research compound," where scientists were to study meteorology, psychology, parapsychology, zoology and the island's "unique electromagnetic fluctuations." Which may be how Locke's paralysis was reversed.

A few other theories being bandied about:

It's an elaborate, Hollywood-scale reality show -- Survivor meets The Truman Show (because the "contestants" aren't in on it. Or are they?)

Genetic Mirror Theory. Plug this one into Google and you'll find a wild thesis, supposedly supported by a 1988 book by a French mathematician named Marseille Rousseau. The theory: Everyone in the world has an exact twin, but you never encounter this person, "by laws of probability and other natural occurring phenomena." A series of numbers explains this theory, and they all have to do with -- you betcha -- 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42. (8 is for the eighth continent, the only place in the world you could meet your twin; 23 is the number of years apart you and your twin are, etc.)

There is no such book, and the theory's been debunked as a hoax, but the question is: Who put it out there? Perhaps those dastardly Lost writers, trying to throw us off-track?

Did you know?

Originally, the show's central character was going to be convict Kate (Evangeline Lilly); she was to get her strength from her encounter with Jack (Matthew Fox), who was to be killed off in the pilot. Creators discussed casting Michael Keaton as Jack.

The production budget for the two-hour pilot was $12 million, reportedly the most expensive pilot in history. Thinking he had "the next ER, ABC Entertainment Chairman Lloyd Braun greenlighted the show, to much ridicule. Before the pilot aired, Braun was fired; the show went on to become one of the network's biggest hits in years.

The Hanso Foundation (www.thehansofoundation.org/dharma.html (http://www.thehansofoundation.org/dharma.html)) A recent addition to this ABC site makes it the most drool-worthy for die-hards: It now contains a flash video of the entire Dharma Initiative film, where you'll pick up on many things. (Notice the polar bears? The film's host has a prosthetic arm?)

Oceanic Air ( www.oceanic-air.com (http://www.oceanic-air.com/)) From the show's writing team, this looks an awful lot like an Orbitz search page; if you let your mouse linger over the president's message to the right of the page, you'll see some "hidden" text: a distress call.

Fan sites:

Lost TV ( www.lost-tv.com (http://www.lost-tv.com/)) Serious message board action and one of the most satisfying fan sites for clue hunters.

Lost-Media ( www.lost-media.com (http://www.lost-media.com/)) Interesting connections and the like, but move quickly to the site's photo gallery, where you'll find a treasure trove of frame grabs -- is the bearded researcher in the Dharma film the same guy who kidnapped Walt? -- that might just blow your mind.

Inside the numbers

4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42.

Are these numbers cursed? Maybe, maybe not. Personally, I think the show's writers just drop them in wherever they can so they can watch us all slowly come unglued. Either way, they are one of Lost's greatest recurring themes.

We first notice them: through Hurley, the show's big, bushy-headed major "dude" in residence. He first heard the numbers from a fellow psychiatric patient, who repeated them over and over. Hurley used them to win the lottery, but now he thinks they're cursed, because bad things have plagued his family ever since. (grandfather drops dead, lightning strikes at his funeral, Mom's new house catches on fire).

Before that: The sequence of numbers was rumbling at least decades ago, when it was being broadcast from the island's radio transmitter to Navy sailors monitoring transmissions out of the Pacific Ocean. Sixteen years ago, the numbers also beckoned French woman Danielle Rousseau and her expedition to the island.

Where else they appear:

During last season's finale, Hurley runs to catch his flight (Oceanic 815), and passes a girl's soccer team. The numbers on the backs of their jerseys are 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42.

They're engraved on the door of the hatch.

They're the code that must be entered every 108 minutes onto the computer inside the hatch.

They're printed on the medicine vials in the hatch.

Fun with math: 108 is the sum of the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42.

Take 108, subtract it from Hurley's net worth ($156 million), and you have 48, the original number of survivors on the island.

Related numbers: The Lostaways' flight number was Oceanic 815. This number pops up everywhere in the characters' flashbacks:

During the robbery Kate's involved in, she wants access to safe deposit box No. 815.

Charlie gets a job selling a photocopier called the C815.

Before the suicide bombing mission, Sayid walks out of a building with the number 815 on the door.

Locke points out shopping aisles 8 and 15 to his mother (Swoosie Kurtz).

In a complete coincidence, several of the men of Lost appeared on the cover of an Entertainment Weekly magazine last April. It was issue No. 815. And I am totally freaking out right now.

I dunno what is wrong with people...for me my sister IM'd me and did it so nonchalantly, I made a purpose not to read it here but in the end I found out about this one anyways...oh well there will probably be alot of bigger surprises with the show this season that will be bigger than this one coming up.
