But nobody told Kate that Wayne was her real birth father; we don't know why neither Wayne nor Kate's mom told her, and apparently Sgt. Dad figured that if Kate, the corn-fed Iowa straight-A student, knew Wayne was her real dad, she'd kill him for some reason. What is this, Alias?

Well and here's the thing: for as much more of Kate's backstory that we now know, we still don't know how that toy plane ended up in the bank's safety deposit box. From season 1 we know that when she visited her childhood friend that they dug it up from their time capsule in the woods, but then upon her escape from the hospital it got left behind in the car I believe (the car in which her childhood love was shot to death during said escape). So a link of which we're unaware is how the plane went from the car's dashboard to the safety deposit box.

Also, I was thinking recently of why she had to rob the bank instead of simply going in to get it, especially since she had the required 2nd key. And maybe, because the circumstanes that have the plane in the bank include that Kate's real name is on the paperwork there, and so going into get it as a normal customer would throw up the flag that indeed the real "Kate (whatever her last name is, I forget)" has appeared and trying to access her bank box, and so the authorites would be alerted to come get her. But hey, I don't even know if that's how it works with that, this is all just conjecture.

wtf. I have fallen totally out of interest with this show due to this off three weeks, two new episodes, off two weeks bullshit. It has been a long time since I have tried to watch a show on a regular basis, and some people have said that this is going on with a lot of shows now...but it makes it absolutely impossible to stay with it.

Say you have three weeks of reruns, then two new episodes, then two more weeks of reruns. You can have almost a two month stretch with only one new episode if you forget to watch it one week....

I remember when I was little I used to watch the simpsons. It came on once a week. I sat down and watched it. The same time next week I repeated the process. Seems like a simple concept....

The Simpsons was the same way you just didn't realize it. TV shows air all of their new episodes around and during the sweeps months of November, February, and May. Notice that every single episode of Lost was new in the month of November. Same thing will happen in February, every single episode will be new. Which gives us 12 episodes set aside for sweeps and 12 more left to disburse for the rest of the year, so of course there will always be gaps. December has ALWAYS been dead TV month with usually only one or no new episodes airing the entire month. With a show like Lost it just sucks because it's so addicting...but every other single TV show has these big long gaps.

Not really...not a big fan of AnaL but she is necessary I think and she is playing the bitch she is supposed to be playing. This season has been on par with last season and the character studies and dynamics this season have been better I think than last season, especially with the introduction of Tailies.

Locally the Preston & Steve show from WMMR are gonna have a listener "premiere" party for the viewing of the show, I think I may actually try and angle in on this. It does sorta crack me up though, they're not the only ones calling this the "Lost season premiere". ABC isn't selling it like that, is it? Because obviously it isn't, it's simply the first new ep after a somehwhat unusually long hiatus.

Exactly! It's just all dependent upon what you're used to. That and since it was the holidays, it makes sense that its gone. A month long break at other points in the regular viewing season make it tougher too.

Well okay I suppose I have the "season" part of the phrase wrong, but I know I've definitely heard multiple places refer to it as at least the "premiere", which I think even that is being overdramatic. It's quite simply a new episode.

And yes, speaking in an overall sense, I personally am a bit dissapointed with season 2. And I wouldn't be surprised to hear if the majority of fans were. For one, they started with a relative bang which was good, spending some decent time examing the hatch, but once that was gone away from it's fallen off quite a bit. The "tailees" overall I think has been a downfall but I think that's largely to do with so much time being spent on AnaL as there has been, and I"m not sure the producers predicted quite the backlash there'd be against her that there is (now this DUI thing don't help). So now you have a contigent of fans literally getting annoyed during episodes, wanting her off the screen the minute she enters the frame. It doesn't add up to feeling good overall about your show, it just adds fuel to the fire of the impatience of fans that surrounds this show.

Also not helping (& keeping with the fan backlash theme) was that no less than twice did they end 2 separate episodes with the same exact climax. Mind you I"m not saying that even I as a writer think that was a poor storytelling choice, looking at it dramatically, I'm not sure honestly, but you can't deny that plenty of fans were pissed off that that was pulled not just once but twice.

But 3 of those 5 things have to do with the fact that it's only been a few days on the island so far. It's like, the day after Sayid saw Walt and he'd been tied to a tree by AnaL for half of that. Michael obviously was affected by The Others in his searching for Walt and went into the hatch and messed with stuff to approach the search differently. We just didn't really get to see him making that decision. Also, it's been like a day that he hasn't been out there searching.

And FYI, to best I can recall, when Michael was flipping out about Walt at the waterfall (ya know, as opposed to the 900 other spots on the island he's flipped out about him :p Is there seriously not a LOST drinking game yet, where you chug every time Michael says some variation of "They took my son!" :lol ) Mr Eko tried to comfort him just by saying something like "It'll be alright, he'll be okay, we will find him", that kinda thing.

Overall i'm confident that the season is going somewhere (February I have a feeling is going to be balls to the wall, they don't call it sweeps for nothing). To me the decisions that they have made make sense with the direction they are going. They want us to hate AnaL, they want us to be jarred by the introduction of the tailies, etc. The best thing in my opinion to be introduced this season is Mr. Eko. Down the road he's going to be crucial I think.
