After a plane breaks in half and crashes on different parts of an island inhabited by black smoke monsters, extras from Deliverance, people who live in underground hatches or steal babies, and polar bears, the two groups of survivors - who are strangely interconnected with one another, unbeknownst to them - find one another, the monsters, the extras, the hatches, the polar bears, and a weird old pirate ship; insanity ensues.

Did you really back read the entire thread?!? Most impressive.
Yes I did, it took me a while though. Well worth it, thanks to the backreading I've seen things I would have never caught (like the markings on the shark). Thankfully my day job affords me the time to do the reading.

the shark was one of the cooler things.
I must admit the show is losing me though. If something semi major isn't resolved by the end of season 2, i am probably tapping out. imho this season has been WAY more disappointing than season 1. I think its focusing way too much on people's history's and not on the island itself.

Very true, this season has definitely calmed down a bit. Then again though, I think we, as viewers have definitely grown more accustomed to the show so it would take much more to get a rise out of us then during last season. I will be riding this one till the end regardless. I'm one of the few (at least in my office) who does not mind the back stories as I feel that they are going to be very important to the plot eventually. Plus I've always been one who wonders (while I'm watching a movie or tv) how a character got to the point that they are today, and with this show, I get that knowledge. I'm thinking that there are only so many shocks and surprizes that the creators have up their sleeves without giving away the big secret so I have a feeling that we won't be seeing as many the remainder of this season.

There were much much more backstory episodes in Season 1. The beginning of this season was just surprise after surprise, and then they slow down for one episode. Three weeks ago, we saw the 'monster' and what it shows people, two weeks ago we lost Michael and saw the others close-up, then last week nothing happens, and that's what people remember.

Your right, see how easy I forgot those things? It's like I said before, we've all become so accustomed to these surprizes that it takes a lot more to get us excited then it would have during the 1st seasson.

My personal thoughts are, once everything comes to light, that the flashbacks will be the sole reason they're on the island.

I think even if it is starting to slow down it's because they plan on making this show go on for a couple more years. How many sharks and polar bears can you pull out of your ass I mean seriously? Then again we dont even know the size of this island so there could be wayyyy more surprises to come. Shit we still have to raise a damn army.

obviously something major is going to happen, but i dont think anything will be resolved... unless you count like getting walt back or something as major...
im sure they will give us something, but leave some big mystery open for next seson...
i'm sure this has been discussed but what ever happened to that french chick with the battery?

The French chick is MIA. For now.
I don't get why they just let her walk off like that. If she had all those supplies to make all those boobie traps why wouldn't they like follow her or something? It doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, I guess thats probably one of the reasons they decided to show that episode again last night.

A little story point's been nagging at me, frankly since the scene itself took place. Back a couple weeks ago when our fellas went roaming out after Michael and ran in "Zeke" and his troupe, and retard Kate went and got herself captured by them, thereby giving them the one bargaining chip the Others needed to get outta there.... well before Zeke made us aware they had Kate, when Jack still wasn't standing out, Zeke said something to the effect of "Well I was hoping it wouldn't come to this, but..." - and he produced the bound Kate, gag in mouth.
I can only assume that he'd planned to give Kate back to them all along, knowing when he caught her that the other survivors were surely also on their way to bumping into them. So, if Jack hadn't really acted the way he did, what would the others have done? What, as our guys were walking away simply said "oh yea, btw, we caught Kate sneaking around, here she is back."? :confused I dunno, it just seemed Jack's behavior was a little too convenient, story-wise, to facilitate Kate's return to them. After all, it was the knife being put to Kate's throat that forced them all to give up their weapons, if I recall correctly. What if our boys had decided to already do that once they'd seen that were more than surrounded adequately enough?

Well, my guess that it was pretty much a given something like that would happen. Either Jack or Sauer would have responded were going to respond way. Don't forget who "Zeke" has already shot once. Plus, they've been watching the group for quite a while now, so I think they felt pretty good that they would be able to use Kate the way the did.

oh man I totally forgot to post this before when I did my other stuff. This is kinda freaky. I was looking around online a few minutes last night for photos of Patricia Heaton as part of making this sort of gag post on another forum about something, and I came across this particular one. Now I've mentioned before on this site that actually I think Heaton is one incredibly sexy 40yo+ lady, one of the most in Hollywood in that bracket. And while I've always found Kate on Lost to be pretty attractive and everything, and certainly wouldn't kick her outta bed for eating crackers, but she's never been my favorite girl on the show.
Well check out the attached photo, I opened this and right away, dunno if it's just me, but this seems to look eerily like what Kate would look like in another 15-20 years or so :eek Like the eyes especially are right on. Anyone else?? :D

And today in Lost news:
According to rumor, Michelle Rodriguez is on her way out:
February 3, 2006
Michelle Rodriguez is Done
Due to constant diva-like behavior, US Weekly claims the producers of Lost are killing off Michelle Rodriguez's character, Ana-Lucia Cortez, as soon as they have the opportunity. Rodriguez is also facing legal troubles and is due in a Honolulu court next month on suspicion of drunk driving on December 1, her second such arrest in the last two years.
The producers are fed up with the fact that she barely shows up on the set and is always in a bad mood," Us Weekly quoted an "insider" as saying. "They said she was getting killed off as soon as they could write it in."
Take that with a grain of salt. I'm not sure how reliable it really is. The rest is here: http://www.idontlikeyouinthatway.com/2006/02/michelle-rodriguez-is-done.html
And this next one is HUGE. Be prepared!

And today in Lost news:
According to rumor, Michelle Rodriguez is on her way out:
I actually saw that yesterday, but in the full US Weekly report, they cite conflicting sources too. The other news outlets are leaving that part out. US Weekly tacks this on the end:
From the upcoming issue of US Weekly:
MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ
Losing Lost?
Will lost star michelle rodriguez be told to, uh, get lost? A source tells Hot Stuff that the actress, 27, who plays tough Ana Lucia, has become increasingly difficult on the set — and execs are eager to kill her character. “The producers are fed up with the fact that she barely shows up to the set and is always in a bad mood,” the source says. “They said she was getting killed off as soon as they could write it in.” Still, another source denies Rodriguez has any attitude, saying, “She’s very friendly.” A rep for ABC declined to comment, but the actress’ personal rep tells Us, “Michelle is very proud of her work.” The rep, however, wouldn’t reveal Ana Lucia’s fate. Rodriguez is already in trouble: She was arrested in December in Hawaii (along with costar Cynthia Watros, 37) and charged with DUI. She pleaded not guilty; her trial is set for March 30.
I just find it hard to believe that anyone would actually say they're going to kill her off as soon as they could write it in. :lol

he died from a heart attack. :(
i cannot believe that they used his song for this ad, it was so cheesy. he was such a great singer/songwriter and the song totally did not go with LOST and the premise of the show. robert palmer's video was totally tongue in cheek in 1986 and it was funny then, but not at all funny tied to this show... :shrug

If we're talking about the one starting off with AnaL saying "You people all act like you're too safe" (or whatever) then YES, that was the same exact one from 2 weeks ago. Including seeing a body (Sun, I think) being mugged and drug off.
btw speaking of commercials *somewhat* having a LOST connection -- has anyone seen that Snickers ad where the guy's wearing the bars on his head to hide his baldness? It uses the Mama Cass song!! (although a male cover artist) :lol :lol

A couple days ago I was somewhere online (can't recall where) and reading Lost related stuff, and someone mentions this idea of Charlie kidnapping Sun. So technically I knew about it going in, but I sooooo didn't think it would really be, because when Iread it I absolutely thought the person was joking. For one thing I'm thinking "now why in the hell would Charlie kidnap Sun??" plus also I thtought the person remarked that it was part of another heroin fit or something, and we know that Charlie isn't using, so I figured this guy was just fucking around, that it was a totally random comment.
So then Charlie walks out of the jungle and I'm like "you gotta be KIDDING ME!!!!" :lol

How so?
Well just off the top of my head.
How is it that Charlie is suddenly stealth enough to follow Locke? He's never been successful in the past at doing so.
Kat suddenly needs Sawyer to talk to Locke? Why? That just makes no sense at all to me.
Shannon dies and Sayid suddenly doesn't care about getting off the island? I'm not buying that at all.
There were a couple other things that now I can't think of but I'll remark on them as I watch this back again.

Well I'm totally all about con, crime and caper type of stories so my mind's all over this one. A few thoughts...
Actually first of all, after the 1st flashback, when Sawyer fessed up to being a con man, did anyone start thinking that the girl was actually long conning HIM?
Now as to points within Sawyer's con. I still don't understand why Kate would have to ask Sawyer to go talk to Locke for her, considering it was only about giving Lock a heads up. I can't see a reason why she couldn't simply do that. Also, it's a stretch that Sawyer could've forseen that Locke would've decided to go stash the guns out in the jungle, as opposed to simply changing the combination once more and remaining inside. But, a true con man always has to be prepared for a situation to turn any possible way (even when they mean it to be leading exactly the way they want it to go), and I suppose you could say that Sawyer talked to Charlie and had him prepare to go follow Locke if he chose to not just keep them in the saferoom. That it was a 50/50 shot. Locke would either just change the combo or put them somewhere else, and obviously there's only one other place he'd put them, the entirety of the jungle.
But perhaps the biggest hole in the story is picked up right from there. This is Locke and Charlie we're talking about. Charlie following Locke in the thick of the jungle. You're telling me Locke never was able to tell that he was being followed?
EDIT: oh sonofabitch!! that's what I get for taking so long to write, Cristina went and stole all my thunder!! :p well, pffft... it's all the stuff that I said to her in the first place ;)

Well just off the top of my head.
How is it that Charlie is suddenly stealth enough to follow Locke? He's never been successful in the past at doing so.
Yea I can buy this one. Though this begs the question, does Locke know he was being followed and took the guns out knowing that Sawyer would get them? I'm beginning to question Locke's motives...he's not the man we all make him out to me I think.
Kate suddenly needs Sawyer to talk to Locke? Why? That just makes no sense at all to me.
Well it was apart of the con...Sawyer knew that Kate would go to Jack and find out his deal then come back to Sawyer and tell him at which point he knew she would suggest to him to go talk to Locke. He was planning on talking to Locke the whole time.
Shannon dies and Sayid suddenly doesn't care about getting off the island? I'm not buying that at all.
Sayid hasn't been caring about getting off the island since she died. Ever since he went one on one with AnaL he hasn't cared and has been playing the mourning role pretty damn well in my opinion. They were in love and I can see how he feels that way

Yea I dunno...the more and more I think about it the more I feel that Locke ultimately knew that Sawyer was going to get the guns. That's what I'm starting to think. Locke is about the smartest person on this island. No way does he get totally fooled like this. I think he's happy to see Sawyer have the "control" because it means Jack doesn't and he can't be blamed. Also is it just me or did he give Jack the wrong combo anyhow?? Watch the previous episode. I swear he dials 25 29 40 and NOT 7 33 18.

At the end of "Owl Creek Bridge" we learn the entire story occurs in the split second of a man's hanging...between the time his feet are kicked out and his neck snaps.
Could the entire series of LOST be happening in the split second between the plane crash and death? In other words...while we are watching everything going on, the plane is still falling from the air?

Huh? How does that suggest she's been there all the time? I'd think if anything it reminds you that she doesn't know them all that well still, misremembering a guy's name. Steve/Scott, both start with S's. Just so happens the other guy died (at a time when she couldn't have known about it). Doubt there's anything to it.

No no no. The entire thing of everyone confusing Scott and Steve before. No way is it just a coincidence that she too confused those two names.... both starting with the same letter or not.

Oh there's no doubt, of course he was. But that still doesn't answer from Kate's POV why she would need Sawyer to talk to Locke for her.
Okay, I haven't finished watching so I might be missing something here but it made sense to me when I saw it just now because Ana Lucia knows Kate is the one who questioned Jack about her (Ana Lucia's) motives/possible role in attempting to kidnap Sun. So, if Jack and AnaL were after the guns, and they saw Kate run off to the hatch, they'd know she was warning Locke and she wanted to be fully under the radar with warning Locke so that AnaL didn't run off and try to prevent her from talking to Locke.... or something.
Bottom line, AnaL had her eye on Kate and though she could assume Kate would have told Sawyer because they are close.... Sawyer was a more inconspicuous choice. And Kate probably also wanted to continue keeping an eye on AnaL herself, as well as not wanting to leave Sun. Perhaps?

ah haa. Well I hadn't even recalled there even being a confusion between Scott & Steve before in the show, I thought it was just a random thing in there tonight. Was that also this season, or last year? hmm... still not sure it really means anything though, may just be some little inside joke thing for the writers.

Oh, so Cristina you mentioned The Twilight Zone and after Hurley referred to the Glenn Miller Orchestra transmission coming from another time, it made me think about one time when JJ was talking about really loving that Twilight Zone episode and how it was his inspiration for the ending of Felicity.
Anyway... not like it wasn't just something thrown in there for fun, but it made me wonder if anyone has heard the producers or writers talk about time or time travel in this show? I don't really think it makes sense but I just wondered if they'd been asked about it at all.
And I knew Kate's mom was going to be in the episode and I really thought there was going to more to it than that. Damn you Damon for tricking the spoiler freaks!

Well, thing that would bug me about that is supposedly they've been adamant right along with the Purgatory theories that everything you've seen on the island has a logical explanation, as in non-ethereal, so to speak. Also time travel is such an overdone thing, it's like using a split personality character in a serial killer movie or something. So between that and the possibility of that TZ story being a big clue, like I said before, that's just like "its all a dream to me", which is incredibly weak and would leave me very dissapointed.

Oh. Nevermind, I think the Felicity thing was actually a combination of that book-episode of Twilight Zone and JJ's interest in time travel. She traveled back in time a couple months and when she went back to real time, only a few hours had passed overnight. It sounds bad, and some people I'm sure think it was, but I thought it actually worked.
Anyway, it's kinda random that the book that inspired the TZ episode and Hurley's time comment happened in the same episode.
But someone upthread did mention something telling - in the countdown in the promo for next week, there are no zeros across the board. It's just 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Not 000.05 or whatever. What the hell?

Oh Kevin, don't make me come kick your ass. You know I would too. ;) I'm tagging this because it's totally off topic. First, he had an ending when they cancelled the show. Then TPTBitches ordered more episodes. :rolleyes So he had to come up with something. And you know how Megan was all Wickan? (Did I spell that right?) Well, she and Felicity were talking after she chose Ben over Noel and then she walked in on Ben making out with some chick when they had moved away together. And it was definitely all "what would it have been like if I'd have chosen Noel" and blah blah...which was JJ's big issue with that show because the audience was split like that.
So, Megan said she'd do a spell and send her back in time to see if she could change her future and pick Noel instead. So, she does and Felicity wakes up the next morning back in time. And we have to figure out if she's a nutcase or if she really has traveled back in time. And she ends up having to tell Ben because Noel dies in the fire that had happened in real time. There was glorious continuity in this weird period as you might imagine. Going back and seeing how things are different in her life based on who she was with.
Anyway, she convinces back-in-time Megan what had happened and Felicity does a spell to take her back into regular time. It sounds completely freaky but if you watch and accept the fact that the storyline was taking place, it actually was quite well done. In my opinion. And come on, do I have bad taste? No. The answer is no. ;)
Oh, look what I found at TWoP:
From Wikipedia:
"On December 15, 1944, Glenn Miller was scheduled to fly from England to Paris to play for the soldiers who had recently liberated the city. His plane departed from Twinwoods Airfield, Clapham, a village near Bedford, but disappeared over the English Channel and was never found. Miller's disappearence remains a mystery; the fact that neither Miller's remains nor the wreckage of his plane (a single-engined Noorduyn Norseman UC-64, USAAF Tail Number 44-70285) were ever recovered from the Channel have led to many conspiracy theories over the years."

Oh you gotta be kidding me Adrian. These aren't spoilers, this was footage blatantly shown to the entire country immediately after the episode finished. It happens every week, and it's talked about every week (which btw I'm almost positive that the same thing happens in the 24 thread regularly, since they provide previews for the following week at the end of each show too). Plus let's remember how many times those stinkers have purposefully mislead us with the next week previews, for us only to find out that a particular shot was shown taken way out of context, etc...
yah which is exactly why i dont watch the previews,

actualy yah we do, on canadian satelite... but the abc channel is taken over by another station who has the rights to lost in canada... so we do get different previews... but now I am not at home and have to watch the show with an antenna, so i get abc from like detroit or something so I would get the american previews...
but i dont watch them anymore because I was so pissed off when they showed jin talking in english to hurley... then it turned out to be a dream...

Well, I just got done watching this weeks episode. Am I the only one who thinks that Sawyers partner looked awfully familiar. I don't know why, but for some reason I think we have seen him before. I could be wrong though.
After backreading, the big issue seems to stem upon the fact that Locke was followed by Charlie and he saw where the guns were placed. Although I don't remember specifically hearing that Charlie was walking after him. Perhaps Charlie was in a tree watching him? Or maybe they werent even hidden out of sight from the hatch door and he was able to watch him from one vantage point?

Hey guys. I think it was mentioned already, but I too thought that Locke was pulling "the long con", not Sawyer. He's too smart not to know Sawyer would at least try something with the guns. Plus, in Locke's eyes, the guns may be safer with Sawyer. We all know Sawyer's not just going to start handing them out. I think Locke felt that by letting Sawyer steal them, they'd definitely be out of Jack's hands. Plus, Locke can just say to Jack, "Sorry...I don't have the guns. My bad," and can now never be forced to give them to Jack.
Oh, and another thing. Locke tracked Mike across the entire island (for the most part). You mean to tell me he couldn't find Sawyer's tracks made while he's carrying a heavy load if he really wanted to?
Anyway... not like it wasn't just something thrown in there for fun, but it made me wonder if anyone has heard the producers or writers talk about time or time travel in this show? I don't really think it makes sense but I just wondered if they'd been asked about it at all.
I seem to recall the writers (or someone in an interview) talking about time. Not necessarily time travel, but time in the sense that we really don't know what year it is on the island. They seemed to stress it a great deal, actually. I think time will play a part in something very important.

This concept of Locke in fact being in the complete know of what was going on last week with Sawyer's con may sort of play into something I've been thinking about lately, and especially came to mind during that last ep.
Anyone else think Jack's just generally getting dumber this season? And I mean for one thing, that seems an awful quick character progression, that he'd be someone who could be turned that quickly into the angry mob mentality, he would've otherwise so often been the one who's saying "calm down, let's think about this before we go rushing into anything..." I wonder if it's a conscious decision by the producers to make Jack somewhat of a more unlikeable character lately.
Which, now that I think about it, brings to mind... who right now are they concerned with being a likeable character at this point? gee, about Locke, Hurley, Sun & Jin, that's all I can figure (that is, by most people and by normal standards) :lol Pretty much everyone else I can see a valid argument being made for why they're unlikeable right now, from degrees of kinda annoying to outright hatred.

Claire, Libby, Rose & hubby and Eko..... unless you think Eko falls into that category. Sure he's got a bad past and might not be a good guy, but without that back story, they've gone out of their way to make him currently a likable character.

Claire - People hate her because she won't forgive Charlie for trying to 'save' the baby
Libby - People think shes could be a spy for the others
Rose & Bernard - They aren't even shown anymore

Do people hate Kate? Because you could add her to the list. And I'm sure as soon as Sayid takes out his tampon, people'll have no problem with him.

With this hate it or love it talk, is it more of a "are we sort of supposed to not like Kate/Jack" or just personal preference?
I think the people that are most hated by the audience are Charlie, Jack, and Kate because... well people think Charlie is annoying and that Jack and Kate are stupid and selfish and overdramatic about their pasts. At least, that's what I gather from reading around on the web.
I don't really like Claire either but it's because she's almost never doing anything or talking about anything or thinking about anything other than the baby. That's not her fault. They make her boring, to me. And the screeching is annoying.
So anyway, yeah, I thought Jack turned pretty quickly but I think if maybe I watched the episodes all in a row with no 3 week breaks or anything, I'd realize that it made more sense in the way it happened. He's been really frustrated for a long time now. You know, like 8 whole days. :lol
