I don't know if this has been mentioned, but if you go to Oceanic Air's web site, and do a "select all", copy and paste it into a new email or Word doc and see what happens.

Did the T-Rex break out of the cage yet?
Or is that going to happen next week?

Hadn't planned on it ahead of time, but I actually ended up watching almost all of both rerun eps of the 2 hour pilot last night. Was my first viewing of them since its original broadcast. I'd just about forgotten really how different sounding the "monster" was back then, that it did have much more of an animal sense to it, what with a loud bellowing squeal of a beast and, looking at it from afar, the appearance that it was crushing huge trees left and right as if they were being stepped on. This all of course in stark contrast to the very clear mechanical-type sound we heard by the end of season 1.
Also, when watching the first Tailies episode this year and when that girl with the short dark hair up and vanished while they were pulling Sawyer's body up that embankment, upon originally seeing her then it hadn't even occurred to me that she was shown like 4 different times in the plane flashbacks in this pilot episode (although as Cristina tells me there's long been debate on some sites that they in fact were NOT the same lady, I don't see how anyone could think that now having it fresh in my mind, but apparently the IMDB does confirm it was the same actress).
And finally I thought Locke had the best line in the entire first 2 hours. Upon hearing Walt tell him that his mother had just died a few weeks prior, Locke calmly said "You're havin' a bad month..." I dunno why, but that just sounded so funny to me at the time, I laughed out loud :lol
(though someone else thinks Sawyer had the best line in the pilot, gee... :p )

How do we know that the "monster" that we know now was the "monster" that killed the pilot? That still remains unsolved...

Yup that's what I was thinking. I was under the impression that all those animalistic sounds we heard in the pilot were polar bears.

I don't know if I'd say "long debate". I was attempting to stay off forums and such so I didn't get too obsessed but when they first showed the tailies, I thought she looked like the same person and at that time IMDB wasn't confirming so I checked out fuselage and lost-media's forum and everyone seemed pretty set on it not being her since she never said anything about being the flight attendant.
As for the quotes. You know Locke is my man. Best character and best actor on that show but I'm sorry.....they save all the best lines for Sawyer. Week after week I could pick out at least 3 funny lines.

Just curious...How many seasons do you think this show will last?
they have up to 8 seasons worth, but if the audience dwindles, so will the episodes...condensing the story into 5 or 6 seasons

And actually that reminds me, a friend sent me a link last week that I'd forgotten about, I hadn't even looked at until just now. I think it is hillarious that it took 133 days to show 11 episodes of lost, an average of 1 episode per 12 days.
In 49 days, 24 will have shown 12 episodes an average of 1 episode every 4 days.

Ok first I have to say that ya know, sweeps can really eat ass, because now because of it after tonight, we won't get a new LOST adventure for another 3 bloody weeks (3/22). This show needs to wise up and go the 24 route, wait til mid-season then steamroll straight thru.
Now then, I know this complaint is a bit late to the party, it's concerning the last new episode which was now 2 weeks ago, but deal :p After reading the posts in the day or two following that one, I'm surprised nobody else really voiced something -- how really dissapointed I was at what happened with the clock, those symbols turning about. What a damn cop out. So where's the suspense then? umm, you don't really have just 108 minutes to reset the clock, apparently you've really got a good 5 or so seconds after that to still hit the button and you'd still be okay. Yea we saw those heiroglypics or whatever, but still, nothing happened. So gee, turns out hitting ZERO still means squat. BOOOO!!! :thumbsdow COP OUT!!
Anyhoo, there's a new page over on Aintitcoolnews that's got lots of goodies, so I'll just post the link here (includes a guessed theory by one of the EW writers, and also news that JJ may be back in some capacity for season 3): http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=22604
(there's also invisotext spoilers for both tonight & past tonight towards the bottom -- don't look, Alli! :p I know you can do it! You're strong enough!! :D )

Oh I agree but with something like this, I don't see that there's any point of anything happening unless WE SEE it doing so. At this point with this button stuff, as long as they've been carrying it, if we didn't see it happen it's just the same as it not happening.
And okay a few minutes in here to the new one. I assume that was the first of the flashbacks. Unless they're gonna say that she sort of implanted Ethan into her past memory (pre-plane memory, that is) by way of her stress and paranoia, then are you telling me when she first got on the island she did'nt notice Ethan and remember he was a doctor she saw before she flew? :confused
junior94
03-01-2006, 10:09 PM
Ok Claire's officially on my list, that is one annoying bitch. Though I'm rather confused now. I mean obviously this marks the first time a person's flashbacks weren't pre-island, that we essentially stayed the whole time, that all of her flashbacks from when she was taken. But what I don't get, she appears actually content (if not happy) to be there! Granted she was drugged to a certain extent, very clearly she was when her and Ethan went for that "walk" out in the jungle, but even when we first see her in the examing room when Ethan's gonna give her the first shot, she looked reasonably fine then. At that point it was only a matter of days before (if that long) where she was forcibly dragged away along with Charlie by Ethan. She's not scared of him at all.
Plus her whole "I need that medicine!! Help me to find the medicine!!" umm, based on the first flashbacks she started having, it sure seemed to me that she was believing Aaron was getting sick BECAUSE of whatever shit they did to her. And yet... now she's screaming her head off to go get the medicine to HELP him? :confused And that's to say nothing of how stupid it was that she actually believed there'd still be any vaccine in that toppled over cabinet. Hello, you've walked into this other hatch and everything that was once there appears to have been stripped away, packed up and missing. But sure, whoever did that won't remember to also take with them a bunch of vials of vaccine... :rolleyes

Oh also, interesting reveal there with that stage makeup in the locker. cause I was gonna say, when they showed Zeke in the flashback, that was my first thought, that between that point and what later happened in the jungle a few episodes ago where they had their little stand off with the Others, in Lost-time that would've happened, what, within 2 weeks of each other, and yet in that scene he had this huge scraggily beard.
And looks like we got some kinda Hannibal Lecter situation going on with Mr. Henry Gale. A prisoner that can get inside your head and maybe fuck you up. Of course, what bothers me now about Locke is that Gale clearly made that remark about taking orders because he wanted to plant the seed of doubt and question in Locke's mind -- which, I would think would make it that much more in favor of him being an Other, that he'd try to do that. Locke didn't seem to pick up on that and I would've thought he'd be smart enough to.

It was longer than 2 weeks b/w her showing back up and the face/off. She returned to the group on day 27 and they faced off with friendly on day 51 so 24 days in between. Something has happened I think to the Others to cause them to go mobile and that is why they are so unkept looking unlike when they were with Claire.

Locke's losing his mind and beginning to question the island. He hasn't been thinking clearly for several episodes now...and really since the end of last season if you go back that far.

Huh? I was talking about the hatch prisoner, Henry Gale, that they think is an Other. Not Libby the psychologist.
And Derek -- okay well even if I got the time gap wrong and it was longer, just by what they showed they're still saying that Zeke's look wasn't genuine, that it was fake beard he was wearing out in the jungle (and back on the boat in last year's finale, really).

Ok I gotcha. The thing also about Gale and the comment to Locke -- hell Jack even warned Eko before he went in there that "this guy's smart, be careful what you say to him.. etc", as if they were anticipating this sort of Lecter-esque psychological power that he had (that's why I made the Hannibal remark in the first place, that was the very first thing I thought of when Jack gave Eko that little disclaimer)

Well, she didn't remember him though. She thought she was at home. She told him she was flying to LA soon. He had to have done something to make her forget being dragged off and the entire plane crash, just for that period of time that he had her captive.

I think she remembered the part where she was outside the hatch, talking to Ethan, and that he was telling her that there was no enough vaccine for her and the baby. That's when she knew that she needed more vaccine for him. At least, that's how I'm seeing it.
As far as looking... true, she probably should have guessed it wasn't there anymore but she also had to look to just in case or we'd all be like "you stupid bitch, go look in it to make sure at least!" :lol

So, how did Henry know that Jack was a doctor?
And now I'm getting annoyed about Locke. So, Henry pulls some pop-psychology alpha male bullshit out of his ass and we're supposed to believe that Locke fell for it and got pissed that Jack is the alpha and throws dishes around accordingly? :ugh Hmm.

Oh right, I totally forgot her mentioned that her trip to LA was "coming up" while she was in there, that she obviously was fucked up enough to believe she was back in Australia in that scene. Thanks dear! :)

Exactly. That move by Gale was obvious to anyone and Locke fell for it hook line and sinker. And if Gale couldn't tell Jack was a doctor by overheaaring everything that's been said thru the door (even whatever off-camera happenings), but remember - he did extract the arrow from Gale's shoulder. Jack was certainly being pretty doctor-y then, if not outright saying he was one.

That's a good question. Obviously they're not using that site for all the medically related experiments, etc, anymore, but are they using it at all and with any regularity. Because to bring up the jungle showdown again when they all went searching after Michael, in Lost time that was certainly less than a week ago, and yet there Zeke's makeup effects were right there, when he was using them that night.

You're very welcome Kev! :hug I wasn't annoyed by her this episode, probably because for once she wasn't holding the baby and/or screaming. At least not after the first 10 minutes.
This ep also had a very strong Alias vibe. Very strong. So that's probably got something to do with it too.
I wondered why their costumes would still be there too. Maybe they just had several? Did Kate open more than one locker? Maybe that locker was just one persons costumes and that he's one of the ones that has been killed? Or it's Henry Gale's locker?

So I'm starting to think there are 3 groups of people on this island. You have the plane survivors (both sections), this group of others that include Ethan and the fake beard guy, and (in my opinion) a 3rd group.
I'm inclined to believe that there is a 3rd group. Possibly a group of people who are sick that have banded together. These people would be the ones that we saw their feet only in that episode with Jin and Eko.
Just a thought, I'm too tired right now to dwell into this too much further.

Okay I was feeling like shit last night so I didn't come give my thoughts.
I'm not really feeling this Lecter-vibe you guys are getting. He made some lame ass remark to Locke that anyone could have made, hearing them argue through the door. Yeah he's a smart guy as Jack said but I don't think they meant THAT kind of smart. It's pretty obvious how he knows Jack is a doctor. Also Eko knows they believe him to be an Other so he went in to confess to this man, on the chance he was, to get it off his chest...therefore cleansing himself of the sin so to speak. Claire. So much of that entire thing made no sense to me. You guys remarked on most of it. The whole happy thing with Ethan, the looking for the "medicine" when that's what she thought made her baby sick, the costumes still hanging around in an empty hatch. And why empty? I'm pretty sure the Others think they run this island. No reason for them to run from anyone is there? I thought it was the other way around. And from what I saw none of her "experience" while being captive by them seems all that bad so why would she mentally block it out??
And did I see that wrong or is food in such a supply now that Locke was scraping left overs off the plate and into the sink/garbage? I thought they split up all the food from the hatch? So now I'm just confused on that.
I did however like no AnaL and no Charlie. :D

The yare unkept looing on purpose. That is why the beard and the glue and the old raggy clothes were in the locker. But does any one have any idea who Zeke mightb e tlaking about whne he says "what am i going to tell HIM?"?????
I think you might be right a little though....b/c whoever HE is, decided that Claire being brought there was bad for them, so he just moved the lab to another hatch on the island.
Also does anyone think Ethan was being sincere when he was telling Claire he wished she didnt have to go. And what are they doing with Roussou's daughter??
Someone please help me out.....BEST EPISODE YET!!

Holy crap...I didn't even think about the fact that the costumes left behind could be Gale's. So the question I have is where the f**k is Walt already? Is he with the others that fled the hatch from Claire's flashbacks?

Okay I was feeling like shit last night so I didn't come give my thoughts.
I'm not really feeling this Lecter-vibe you guys are getting. He made some lame ass remark to Locke that anyone could have made, hearing them argue through the door. Yeah he's a smart guy as Jack said but I don't think they meant THAT kind of smart. It's pretty obvious how he knows Jack is a doctor. Also Eko knows they believe him to be an Other so he went in to confess to this man, on the chance he was, to get it off his chest...therefore cleansing himself of the sin so to speak. I think first Henry may have some significant religious meaning if Eko was going to him. Telling him clearly cleansed his soul.
As for the Others I think what someone else said, there is a third group. When Zeke said somethign about him I think that could lied to a branch off of the others. Like "HIM" has another group and Zeke has one.
Was Roussous daughter the one that helped Claire escape? Her description seemed accurate of the girl who helped Claire.
Also all the symbols we saw on the countdown have to do with the hatches. So far we've found 3 hatches and theres 2(?) more symbols left. So I think the Others have ismply moved hatches.

Well, when I brought that up I really meant it in a limited sense. I found it a bit peculiar that they'd pinpoint that in the dialogue, when Jack gave Eko the warning about him being very smart, watch what you say, etc etc. The dynamic of a Lecter-esque character immediately came to mind when he said that, having a potentially dangerous prisoner from whom you need to get info, but his intelligence makes merely chatting with him potentially threatening in that he can get inside your head. And has been said now both by me and a few others, though it was a simple example of it, he pulled this exact move on Locke, making a seemingly off-handed remark just to purposefully get in his psychie, and it being such a dissapointment that Locke would fall for that because it was so damn obvious what Gale was trying to do. But after all (regarding again what Jack said to Eko) every word of dialogue is spoken for a reason, or at least it should be, in good writing at any rate.
Also Eko knows they believe him to be an Other so he went in to confess to this man, on the chance he was, to get it off his chest...therefore cleansing himself of the sin so to speak. Kinda like catholics confess to their priests.
With the Eko/Gale scene, I took that as possibly two things he was trying to do. There's his personal religious side, where he viewed him as an Other so he genuinelly was confessing to "one of them" in hopes to help cleanse his soul of this burden he brought on himself, but also I think perhaps Eko did it as an outside shot to get more definitive proof he was in fact an Other. Think about it from Gale's POV - you've been imprisoned and interrogated for 2 days by people who think you're a baddie, then suddenly in walks this hulking, cold-as-ice lookin' mofo, it would likely be his first assumption that this is their next wave of interrogation, that he's gonna come on real strong and bully him. Then he's caught off guard, he says the last thing he'd ever expect him to, asking for his forgiveness for murdering these men. Eko might've though it might've lulled Gale just enough to let something slip, acknowledging his admission thereby confirming that these 2 men were in fact of Gale's "same kind".
I didn't however understand the importance of slicing of some hairs of his beard, I'm assuming now that has some kind of religious/biblical importance.

Well the "him" Zeke referred to, I took that as an obvious nod to the idea that there's some yet-to-be revealed one central master behind all of this pulling all the strings. And based on what we've been told before, it seems they'd want us to believe the main choices that first come to mind are people like the Alvar Hanso(sp?) character, and also maybe the husband portion of the husband/wife we saw in the Orientation film that started working on the electromagneticism experiements in the 70s.
But an idea I just thought of now while typing this, as far as those heiroglypic symbols we saw on the 108 countdown being ones that match up with each of the hatches -- we know that something started to happen when it hit zero and before Locke finally pushed the button, some kind of machinery or something started to move, we could hear that. I wonder... if whatever process was beginning to happen from that, is what made the Others up and jet out of the new hatch we saw last night... ? :rolleyes That they know what was intiated (though ultimately halted, of course), and that's what motivated them to abandon that other place for some reason.

Yep. The book Locke gave Henry was The Brothers Karamazov, wasn't it? The most famous part of that book is "The Grand Inquisitor" story that someone tells. In that story, Jesus returned during the Inquisition and was arrested. The Inquisitor said that Jesus doomed man to fight eternally by giving him the "right to choose". So the Church and the Inquistor follow the Devil, who makes the choice for humans. The Inquisitor is going to help save humanity from itself by eliminating choice.

OK.....is it just me?? Or did last nights episode give us some serious insight into the island and possibly why our heroes ended up there. I mean all of these philosophical ideaologies and moral questions really make sense.
Dotstoevsky presented interacting characters with contrasting views or ideas about freedom of choice, Socialism, atheisms, good and evil, happiness and so forth. Dostoevsky's central obsession was God, whom his characters constantly search through painful errors and humiliations. And now that we know about this Dostoevsky character, it makes a bit more sense.
I think that is what is going on. All of the poeple on the island are caught somewhere in purgatory b/c of constant search for rightousness. BEST EPISODE EVER I TELL YOU!!!

But, how is anyone thinking that them talking about "Him" getting mad that Ethan took Claire so soon means that "Him" is a completely different and third group of people??? That's what I was talking about - the idea that there is a 3rd group in addition to The Others and DHARMA.

The entire point of the episode last night was to show us that The Others and DHARMA are working together. But what if they split? Is that completely impossible? This is LOST we are talking about here. I think it's very possible something went on they split up and is the reason that the particular Hatch is now abandoned. Maybe it's why Zeke said " It's our island". Maybe we have a little lord of the flies going on with both sides of people. Jack and Sawyer and Zeke and Him.

Okay, yeah, that could be possible. I was reading it as though the assumption was that there was this completely separate 3rd group from out of the clear blue sky and I wasn't following.
Though, I just think that they probably abandoned the place because they figured that if Claire was still alive (assuming they really were going to kill her and I think they were) that it was possible that she'd eventually recover the memories and find that hatch. So they abandonded it on the possibility because that's what good experimental researching, underground living, secret costume wearing, baby snatching, mother stealing groups do. :lol
They could have split into two groups anyhow though. I gotcha. It's crazy at my job right now and I'm all high on it. Took me too long to comprehend!

okay now a little about the episode, the one thing that stood at most in my mind were the number of doctors standing around the table right before ruso's daughter (?) helped clair escape. it looked to me like there was atleast 8 of them so what does that mean all of the others are really doctors or what, especially with the case of the costumes or whatever, just my two cents i guess we will all wait and see

Now that Alias is finishing, I'll finally be able to catch up with the DVDs. Everytime a new season was about to premiere I would tell myself to get all the previous seasons and then watch the new one, but I couldn't bring myself to watching 4 seasons of TV show in a single week. Now, when they finish, I can finally say I'm up to date with everyone else.

Wow, so that's what happened to Desmond! He ran all the way across the island, jumped in the ocean, swam allllllll the way to the western border of the US, and headed off to Los Angeles just to be had by good ole' Jack Bauer in the ole' spy switcheroo gag! :p :lol
Well sheesh then, no wonder we haven't seen him since like episode 4 or something now.. :rolleyes

Listening to the podcast right now and it seems we will be getting 24 episodes again this season. They are in the process of preparing the final 3 episodes right now which they will shoot all at the same time. So probably we are looking at a split finale kind of like last season.

just dropping by here...haha this is the first time i've seen this thread on here and it was interesting to read the first page of comments saying how ridiculous this show is (after the first episode aired). i personally am addicted to the show and am amazed at how well they have kept me hooked. LONG LIVE LOST!

No don't "LONG LIVE LOST". I love the show, but I'm anxious to see what happens to them. I want the show to be successful, but I don't want to be watching in 20 years when Kate has given birth to Jack's, Sawyer's, Michael's, and Sayeed's babies (cuz you know she gets around ;) ) as they grow up.

Finally a NEW episode tonight. It has been too long without any solid information... The last few seemed like "filler" episodes even thought they were new.

I was just reading a review for a book called "Alien Rock"
I thought it was quite interesting that Dave Davies from 'The Kinks' believed he was visted by aliens.
'They were entities who were not of this earth, but were involved in missions here as watchers and nuturers of our race. They showed me crystal computers that monitor the actions of every single person living on eaerth'

I'm a little pissed about the preview for next week. It seriously ruined the suspense that the episode ended with.

The ONE thing I wanted to learn tonight was whether or not the balloon was there. They're really stringing things out.
Oh, and Sun's pregnant, but is that big news? I just want the story to progress a little faster!

Yea tonight's revealed more than usual...ABC has been pretty good this season about not revealing too much...unlike Fox and 24.

Nice preview for next week!
Well, count me in as a Henry Gale fan. Love him. Total shout out to the viewers with him crunching on cereal and wondering why they don't ever ask any damned questions! :lol

First post in this thread...first trip back to Ants in a month or two.
A few things from this episode...
Does the island have some sort of magical powers? Locke was able to walk again once he got here...Jin was able to conceive.
Remember the Widemore Factory in the Charlie backstory (Pink Floyd album cover factory)...well, Sun's pregnancy test was made by Widemore Labs. I think I read it right when it flashed on the screen, maybe someone can get a screenshot? Does this Widemore have some importance? Is it a related company to Dharma?
Cheers...time for me to disapear again.

Probably just another easter egg like the factory was. I doubt it has a connection to Dharma.

So, what's the significance of the book Sawyer was reading, "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret"? ;)

ABC has announced Wednesday, May 24 9:00-11:00 p.m. Lost will have a two hour season finale. This will be up against American Idol's second hour season finale. I know what I'll be watching though... ;)

not even a little... but i think that the real question is, do we believe gale... that is, are the three going to be ambushed next week(and hopefully slice AnaL's throat)...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA thats great

I can understand Charlie and AnaL being so dumb, but how could Sayid not realize that maybe they are being set up. I guess he wants to find out that Gale is one of the others so bad, he is willing to get killed?
Wasn't it pretty obvious that them heading out to where Gale told them was a no win situation.
I mean either they find the baloon and realize gale is telling the truth, or they get ambushed, and realize he really is an Other.
Or maybe Dharma owns an entire fleet of smiley face hot air baloons and they are tricked.
It just seems soooo retarded to head out into the jungle, following a map that Gale made.

No I dont thinkthat is true. I think she cheated on him with the other guy that speaks English. Jin is a PUSSY....all this "I need you " bullshit "b/c I dont know English". What a fag. It should be international law that everyone knows Englsih. Plus he is kind of abusive, which really honks me off. I think she should dump his ass.

If she had cheated on the other guy she would have already been showing since they have been on the island for almost 2 months now. It's definately someone on the island or immaculate conception.

I think it is Jin. If the island can make Locke walk, it can make Jin fertile.

:lol Exactly! :thumbsup
See, I think that since she told Jin about it being his fault they couldn'y concieve, she's lying about not being with anyone else. I mean, why else would she tell him that except to assuage her own guilt for not telling him the entire truth?
At 2 months, she could easily not be showing. Especially since it's her first kid and she's so tiny anyway. Right? I've always heard that most women tend to start showing right about 3 months and then tend to show earlier with the next pregnancies. She could have boned the English teacher before she left.
