Ok a little bit of Lost news. Sam Jackson is NOT going to be on Lost as well as Tina Wesson from Survivor. Also the radio interview about a cast member leaving is totally false. Now everyone can sigh. All this comes from Kristin at E! This is when I can trust her because she does have an in on casting decisions...though story-wise she's a bit on the slow side.

Talula62

Kristen has a new riddle up.

Spoiler Riddle of the Week: One of the following storylines is true, the other is bogus. Is it (1) Lost's Jin (Daniel Dae Kim) is alive, or (2) Desperate Housewives' Rex (Steven Culp) is alive?

JimiThang1
06-12-2005, 05:47 PM
Oh lawd...i'm going with Rex...why would Jin be dead?? He just jumped into the ocean to save Sawyer. Unless if something from the explosion hit him. Still going with Rex though.

Talula62
06-12-2005, 05:52 PM
:lol Yeah, we have no reason to think Jin is dead, unless the explosion was supposed to make us think they all are dead. :lol I doubt anyone thinks that!

I figured Rex was permanently dead when he died. It's a much better way to advance DH's storyline, with him having thought Bree did it.

Sounds like this is more on topic in the DH thread. Now where is that darn thing.

Quotes from Lindelof and Grillo-Marxuach at a Lost convention: We won't kill sawyer. The theory of all the survivors being dead is not true. The plane did not crash by accident, it crashed for a very specific reason. But he dismissed speculation that someone aboard the plane caused the crash. What's in the hatch will have an effect on Locke. The rear section of the plane — and additional survivors — will be discovered during the second season. The people who kidnapped Walt, the young boy, are the "others" on the island.

Jin is alive - and getting a bigger part in season 2

Very likely that Sayid is not the cast member that dies in October

Talula62
06-15-2005, 05:18 PM
Thank you! Sawyer and Sayid both need to stay. Y'all boys won't like this but I hope it's Shannon's ass on the chopping block. Then again, I won't have anyone to hate will I? :lol Oooh maybe it'll be Danielle.

That radio interview from JJ was false...no one is leaving the show.

Talula62
06-15-2005, 07:41 PM
Kristen still says it's true. (I can't believe that just came out of my mouth.) Or, all the TWoP people think it actually is true.

JimiThang1
06-15-2005, 07:47 PM
They just denied it this weekend though so how can it be?

Talula62
06-15-2005, 07:53 PM
Oh, did they deny it applying to every character at the convention? I just scanned that article so I didn't see that. *slaps forehead*

I dunno, Kristen referred to it again in her chat from 6-14. Then again, EOnline ran that story about the interview. So, maybe Kristen is still sticking to that. Which would be odd because we found out that interview was fake at least a week ago. But, not like it's that out of the ordinary for her.

JimiThang1
06-15-2005, 08:11 PM
I didn't see that in her chat about someone dying...

Talula62
06-15-2005, 08:15 PM
It's on http://www.spoilerfix.com/lost.php 06/14 - I believe Mira Furlan (Rousseau) will be back but so far, not full-season contract.... JIN IS ALIVE!!!!! ANd I hear he's getting an ever BIGGER part next season. one final note to those of you freaking out that Naveen Andrews is going to be written off: I really don't think Sayid dies. That is not the cast member I was talking about who's getting written off around October. ????? Maybe that's what she said in her actual chat and the transcript she took it out. If so - probably because they figured out she was misinformed!

I don't know if anyone knew this or not...

When I was in Disney, at MGM, there as this building that was somehow (I forget the full connection) associated with ABC. Inside, they had on display Jack's ripped shirt from the first episode and Charlie's shoes.

Pretty cool.

Has anyone seen this e-mail yet?

Dear Frequent Flyer -

Welcome to Oceanic Airlines -- and thank you for signing up for a weekly bulletin from the writers of "Lost."

We have just reconvened to begin work on Season 2 of the series - after some much-needed vacation and a highly eventful first year that began with the crash of Oceanic Airlines 815 and literally ended with a bang as Jack, Locke and Kate blew open the mysterious hatch while young Walt was kidnapped by The Others... and yes, they were The Others!

As we set out to dramatize such mysteries as the contents of the mysterious hatch and the uncertain fate of Michael, Sawyer and Jin, last seen treading water among the burning remains of the raft -- we thought you might want to know the writers who will be responsible for bringing you the answers -- and a whole lot of new questions -- during the second season.

In addition to series creators J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof, Carlton Cuse returns as executive producer. "Lost" is a reunion for Cuse and Lindelof - who worked together on Cuse's creation "Nash Bridges" (Cuse also created "Martial Law" and co-created "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr"). Before co-creating "Lost," Lindelof served as writer/producer on "Crossing Jordan."

New additions to the staff include co-executive producer Steven Maeda, whose previous credits include "The X-Files" and "CSI: Miami," supervising producer Craig Wright, who previously wrote for HBO's "Six Feet Under," and producer Elzabeth Sarnoff, whose previous credits include "Deadwood" and "Crossing Jordan."

Returning from season one are supervising producers Leonard Dick, whose credits include "Fastlane" and "Hack," Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, formerly of "Felicity" and "Popular," and Javier Grillo-Marxuach who previously wrote on "Boomtown" and "The Pretender."

With this team in place, you can be sure that "Lost" will pack on the surprises on year two. As a Frequent Flyer, you will receive regular updates from the writers room -- so watch your inbox...

...and thank you for getting lost with us!

That is called 'May Sweeps'

Lost started in Sept and they flew through episodes then. Once it caught on, they had to have time to film new episodes and of course they wanted them to air during sweeps. Other shows don't have this problem b/c they know at the beginning of the season that they'll have a certain amount of episodes, allowing them to space them out more effectively

You should give it another chance. Watch the first couple episodes, see what you think. I loved the last few episodes, but I'm also very used to JJ Abrams and how questions do(n't) get answered on his shows in the way you want them to be. But you shouldn't give up yet. :)

Was it endless? There was a ladder for part of it. :rolleyes Yeah - that was weird. And I liked the monster/smoke thing.

I guess I feel like, if they would have opened the hatch, gone in there, and found out where it went and then also followed the monster around or found out from other people what it really was - well - that's too much for me.

They need a lot more information - from other people who have been on the island longer, for example ;) - about the black cloud thing. Yeah, they could have advanced the hatch storyline more quickly. But they chose to focus more on the raft and they chose to make Locke hide it for so long.

I dunno. I think it's more important to develop characters in the first season than advance plot line. I would be willing to bet the plot will advance more quickly in the 2nd season.

We don't know it was endless. He just didn't show us the bottom. It's gotta lead somewhere, they can always use a rope or something to get down there.

And about the monster, JJ stated in an interview somewhere that we'd see 3 to 5 percent of the monster in the finale. So that black smoke? was NOT the entire monster. Just part of it.

Also, the answers will come. Any Alias fan knows to be patient.

Article from the Orlando season about next season, I just pasted the good stuff:

Lost will plunge into the mysterious hatch in its first episode, series co-creator Damon Lindelof says.

"You will see everything that's in there. What is in there will change everything about how they live on the island," Lindelof says. "We are erring on the side of giving away too much as opposed to being too vague."

The producers are meeting the nation's TV critics to collect awards. The Television Critics Association honors Desperate Housewives as program of the year. Lost earns prizes as best new program and top drama. Both series are likely to start their second seasons in mid-September.

The hatch looms as the main topic on Lost, and producers plan a bold revelation.

"I can guarantee you there will be people [viewers] who do not like what they find in the hatch," Lindelof says. "We found this door in the 10th episode of the show, and 13 episodes later they finally open it up. So what's inside has to be something big."

Although the contents can be construed as science fiction, Lindelof rules out a few possibilities.

"There aren't aliens in there," he says. "There isn't a time-travel portal. They aren't going to find a ship they blast off into space." The ill-fated voyage of the raft forms another major plot. A band of vicious strangers set the craft afire and seized the boy Walt (Malcolm David Kelley). Three other castaways -- Michael (Harold Perrineau), Sawyer (Josh Holloway) and Jin (Daniel Dae Kim) -- were left struggling for survival in the ocean.

"If they will reconvene with the main group becomes the story fodder of the first seven or eight episodes," Lindelof says.

The show will continue to examine characters' lives through flashbacks before the plane crash put them on a remote island. Those plots will include more on the marriage of Jack (Matthew Fox); the injury that put Locke (Terry O'Quinn) in a wheelchair; the rock-star existence of Charlie (Dominic Monaghan); the fugitive past of Kate (Evangeline Lilly); and the lottery lifestyle of Hurley (Jorge Garcia).

Michelle Rodriguez joins the cast as a passenger who was in the tail section and who survived elsewhere on the island. The recurring numbers -- on the flight, hatch and lottery ticket -- will become "the driving and fundamental plot point of the second season," Lindelof says. Viewers will know how the plane crashed by season two's end, he promises.

But Lindelof stresses the people are the main element. "The island just serves as a conduit to tell character stories," he says. "No one is really watching the show for the answers to those mysteries. They're watching to see: Will Kate and Jack hook up?"

jester29

Yea I know right...even though the character study on this show is unbelievable and hasn't been done to this extent on television before the mysteries are also greatly important to the show. They balanced it nicely I thought last season...if they continue on that track I think it will be fine.

Content of the Season One DVD is in...this is ALOT of stuff!

DISC 1
* “Pilot” commentary by creator-writer-director J.J. Abrams, creator-writer Damon Lindelhof and non-writing executive producer Bryan Burk. The commentary is unusual in that it lasts longer than the actual episode; through the miracle of “branching” DVD technology, Abrams is able to (if you’re watching in “commentary mode”), stop the episode and switch to behind-the-scenes footage, over which he continues to comment at length about certain aspects of the episode.

* “Walkabout” commentary by actor Terry O’Quinn, writer David Fury and director Jack Bender.

* If you have a DVD-ROM drive, you can access the “Lost Scriptscanner,” which allows you read the entire pilot script while following along with the episode. You can click on any line of dialogue in the script in immediately interact with that scene.

* Widescreen versions of “Pilot,” “Tabula Rasa” and “Walkabout.”

* Commercials! An almost-3-minute-long trailer for the bigscreen Dec. 9 release “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe,” plugs for the DVD releases of “Lost” 1.x, “Desperate Housewives” 1.x, “Alias” 4.x “Scrubs” 2.x “Home Improvement” 3.x, and Golden Girls” 3.x, and that promo we keep seeing for the second season of “Lost” on ABC.

DISC 2
* “The Moth” commentary by actor Dominic Monaghan, executive producer Damon Lindelhof and executive producer Bryan Burk.

* Widescreen versions of “White Rabbit,” “House of the Rising Sun,” “The Moth” and “Confidence Man.”

DISC 3
* Widescreen versions of “Solitary,” “Raised by Another,” “Al The Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues” and “Whatever the Case May Be.”

DISC 4
* “Hearts and Minds” commentary by actors Maggie Grace and Ian Sommerhalder and writers Carlton Cuse and Javier Grillo-Marxuach.

* Widescreen versions of “Hearts and Minds,” “Special,” “Homecoming” and “Outlaws.”

DISC 5
* Widescreen versions of “… In Translation,” “Numbers,” “Deus Ex Machina” and “Do No Harm.”

DISC 6
* Widescreen versions of “The Greater Good,” “Born To Run” and “Exodus.”

DISC 7
The seventh disc is all extras, and is divided into three sections: “Departure,” “Tales From the Island” and “Lost Revealed.”

“Departure” includes:
* “The Genesis of Lost” (8:40): A documentary in which ABC exec Lloyd Braun reveals he wanted to make “Castaway: The Series.” J.J. Abramas reveals how he built on that idea.

* “Designing a Disaster” (7:59): A documentary detailing, among other things, how they got the middle part of a widebody jet from a plane graveyard in the Mojave Desert to a beach in Oahu, and how they got the front of the same widebody to a jungle on the same island. All in six weeks.

* “Before They Were Lost” (22:55): A documentary examining the unusual “Lost” casting process, which saw the show’s masterminds creating new regular characters tailored to actors they met and liked. Hurley, Sayid, Sun and Jin were among those unmentioned in the original outline ABC bought. We’re reminded that the original plan was to have Michael Keaton play Jack, and that Kate was originally supposed to emerge as the leader of the survivors.

* “Audition Tapes” (27:34): We see all 13 of the 14 of the regulars (Terry O’Quinn had already worked extensively with Abrams on “Alias”) run through some script pages. We get to see Yunjin Kim read for Kate. We get to see Matthew Fox, Dominic Monaghan and even Jorge Garcia play Sawyer.

* “Welcome To Oahu: The Making of the Pilot” (33:20): This is largely a how-they-did-it doc, dealing with those horrifying mid-flight scenes, and the monster in the trees, and the polar bear, and the guy-gets-sucked-into-a-jet engine gag, and other things. (Some interesting stuff about the series’ strange musical score too.)

* “The Art of Matthew Fox” (6:07): Fox discusses the many photos he took on the set as sad music plays.

* “Lost@Comicon” (1:50): A look at how high anticipation was for the series, even months prior to its premiere, thanks largely to buzz on the Internet.

“Tales From the Island” includes:
* “Lost: On Location” offers short behind-the-scenes documentaries about individual episodes, including “House of the Rising Sun” (7:19), “Confidence Man” (4:24), “All The Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues” (4:56), “Whatever The Case May Be” (2:58), “Hearts and Minds” (6:20), “Special” (3:05) and the finale, “Exodus” (9:21), plus “The Trouble With Boars” (5:09), a look at the difficulties wrangling the animals during several episodes.

* “On Set With Jimmy Kimmel” (7:15) sees the host of ABC’s late-night talk show visit the cast in Hawaii.

* “Backstage With Drive Shaft” (6:40) teaches us, among other things, how a snippet of dialogue from the Phil Donahue show became the lyrics of Charlie’s biggest hit.

“Lost Revealed” includes:
* “The Lost Flashbacks” are two scenes cut from “Exodus.” One deals with Claire and the doomed pilot discussing psychics (3:07); the other deals with Sayid buying a necktie to impress Nadia (1:28).

* “Deleted Scenes” include “Smoking” (1:10) with Charlie and Sawyer having a meeting of the minds, “Chicken or Lasagna” (0:43) with Hurley trying to engage a silent Locke, “Kate and Sayid” (1:09) with one realizing something about the other, “The Climb” (2:02) with Shannon’s hilarious reaction to Charlie’s attempt to impress her, “The Tell” (1:04) with Locke and Walt discussing liars, and “Partners” (0:55) with Boone and Shannon visually contrasting Sun and a handcuffed Jin.

* “Bloopers From The Set” (4:17) is lots of flubbed lines and falling down.

* “Live From The Museum of Television and Radio” (10:56) presents comic highlights from last March’s Paley Festival Q&A with Abrams and nine members of the cast.

Oh yea I meant to tell everyone I saw the Lost props at Disney MGM studios in Florida last week. They had Charlie's costume from the Pilot, a script, a old fashioned doll that I think might have been from one of the Kate episodes, and 2 boarding passes for Oceanic Flight 815. Pretty cool stuff!

I mentioned this in June, but it's always good to remind people. :)

Good question in the spoiler tags up there Derek. The Twit still insists it's happening. So, considering what we talked about earlier today..........grain of salt.

And about the chick on the right: Yep, she was in the tail of the plane. And yep, she's in the S2 cast. And yep, that means........what you think it means. Which really isn't that big a spoiler -it's been out in the media since the finale, basically.

They need to start talking this show up. Well, maybe not. But really, I like the show but I'm not that excited about it. What with all the insanity with Alias going on. Yeah, that's right - tell LOST who's boss. ;)

They updated this site for the new season and there is an exclusive clip from the season premiere. To access it it takes a while but you finally get to. Click on explore at the bottom and then click on The Hatch dot which is the third dot over. Then keep clicking on the dots that appear and watch the clips (there is about 8 of them) once you watch them all all the dots will connect and then a big dot will appear in the middle of your screen. Then once you click that the clip from the premiere comes up.

about what could be in the hatch...i've got no clue so i'll let people here take a stab at it:

More on the hatch:
The word that begins and ends with the same letter is not a plural, and it is not SOULS or WINDOW. Here's another hint: One of the castaways has already seen this thing before. The others might have as well, but I know for sure that one of them, one of the MAAAAIIIIN ones, has seen it before. Jack's dad is not in the hatch, at least, not that I know of. Someone does see something in the jungle, and we might not see it again for a while.

Major Spoiler not about the Hatch, Beware

Shannon will run into Walt and his kidnappers in the jungle in the first episode. She will tell the rest of the survivors and they will tell her it is her imagination because they don't know about Walt's abduction. This means that "The Others" are on the island. Also the actor from 'Oz' that is joining the show will play another person living on the island. He isn't Rose's husband like a lot of people thought.

This thing in the Hatch can be called by two different words: One is three letters and starts and ends with two letters that are right next to each other in the alphabet. The other is seven letters long and starts and ends with the same letter.

At this point in Rome, I'll say Titus is the best character on TV right now, even better than Locke, but that could change if this season is incredible like I expect it to be.

Several Hatch things

I'm not going to make anymore guesses here, because it's obviously way too hard at this point, but I thought of a few things.

- "When you compare that wording to the wording about the 7-letter word that begins and ends with the same two letters"
I was thinking about this and that maybe by guessing a word like s*****s is wrong, maybe the riddle means it begins and ends with the same two letters, like sh***sh

- "It can also be described as a three letter word in which the first and last letter are next to each other in the alphabet"
Instead of thinking of the alphabet try thing of the words "The Alphabet" they could be A and L, how they are placed in the words "The Alphabet"

I thought I might be on to something until they said it had seven letters. The only thing I could come up with (but didn't make much sence) was EDGE. The edge of what I'm not sure, but since it's not seven letters, I guess that's out. :BANG

Tak_a_Tak
09-15-2005, 03:36 PM
now that I think about it I guess it could still be EDGE. Even though it's a four letter word, it is still only made up of three letters. Still doesn't make any sence though....I think sickness still sounds the best so far.

Talula62
09-15-2005, 03:39 PM
Um.......I think I know the answer. I didn't figure it out on my own but.......

People from Oahu SAW the first ep. According to someone's posts on televisionwithoutpity.com and aintitcoolnews.com. They say what is in the hatch starts with a D. They say a couple other things that have led people to believe they know the answer to the riddle. I can double post with that in another spoiler tag.

Talula62
09-15-2005, 03:57 PM
Okay, so....maybe this doesn't make that much sense. When I first read people theorizing I thought maybe they totally had it.......

"When you compare that wording to the wording about the 7-letter word that begins and ends with the same two letters"

There is a new cast member listed for 2.1. Character name is Desmond. It starts and ends with D. It is 7 letters. But, it doesn't end with the same two letters.... :shrug

"It can also be described as a three letter word in which the first and last letter are next to each other in the alphabet"

Man?

So...you see man everyday......I dunno what that would have to do with "you may be seeing it right now" :confused

For those that can't wait, here's a short summary of what to expect in the upcoming season

09/19 - From Damon Lindelof: First and foremost, we're going into the hatch right out of the gate, first thing in the premiere. Then, equally exciting, if not more exciting, we'll start to see what happens with our brave souls who went out on the raft and how they are going to get back to the island, which takes not one or two episodes but, in fact, eight. It is true [that Katey Sagal will appear on the show], 100 percent. [It's for] at least one episode, but hopefully more. We'll see. She plays an iconic character in the mythology of one of the other character's stories. [We will see flashback scenes for] at least one of [the survivors from the back of the plane]. We're only sort of stating on the record, for sure, that Michelle Rodriguez was in the back of the plane, but we haven't gone on record saying we're meeting any other survivors, if there were any other survivors from the back of the plane. But I think the show is sort of built around the idea of meeting somebody, making sort of a snap judgment about them and then gradually exploring their lives before the crash to get a better sense of who they are and what drives them, and I think every character we meet on the show will eventually get a flashback... unless they blow up first, in which case, we never get around to it. [Hurley getting a love interest is] definitely something we've thought a lot about and nothing that we wanna force. There are a couple women characters we're introducing on the island over the course of the season who we do not know who they're going to end up with. You immediately find out what's in [the hatch] in the first episode, but then that creates a lot of questions, a significant amount of which are answered a couple episodes later. We're doing 23 [episodes] this year. [Rose is] back for season two. You're gonna be seeing a lot of her. There is going to be a flashback story that fully explains the significance of all [Jack's] tattoos and puts it into the framework of what was happening in his life when he got them. You'll probably be seeing it in season two, but if not, very early in season three. Right now the plan is to do it this year. We're doing a Sun flashback story [soon this season]. I think we probably will [see Boone this season]. [23] is an important number in terms of the scheme of the show.

I only use a computer about every other day and the first thing I look for is Lost spoilers. I spoil myself with every show I watch I can't help it. I went back and studied Ancient Rome, just so I could see where the season of Rome is headed. It's definitely helped me understand the show alot more. I found out that Julia, the wife of Pompey that dies in the first episode is Casear's daughter. That explains the quote from the show, "When Julia died the last link between the two was broken"

My impression was thats it's just a recap about last years season and a way to pump up sales of season one on dvd, but I wasn't for sure.
