Oh, please...he hit .285 last year with 27 HR and 81 RBI...sure he strikes out a lot, but you can't argue with those numbers. I dont' think he was ever "overrated" until this year....he made some stupid guarantees and for some reason the media picked up on it and people were talking about him and the Cy Young. Zambrano is a very good pitcher, and he's very reliable for 15 or so wins. He is a damn good pitcher, he has had a slow start, but I'm sure he'll get on track and he'll probably end up with his usual stats.

Wade Miller just has to learn to work with what he has left. Once he gets a better hang of it, he'll be like a poor man's Greg Maddux I would say. Guzman is good for long relief right now. Miller is a veteran and knows how to work out of trouble.

Typical Cub fan attitude, just blame it on one guy...of course there has to be some individual who is at fault, not the team as a whole. Will Ohman has had a rough going, especially early this year, but who else could they pitch?? He gave up a run, but if the offense wasn't going to score a run, they would've lost sooner or later anyway. We had 8 innings to score another run after 5th, and we couldn't even get a hit in 7 straight innings. And you're going to blame Will Ohman?? Ok, so now you've started blaming Jacque Jones singularly, for some reason. He had a bad day. But Murton (who should be out there every day) went up swinging at the first fucking pitch every at bat and didn't get a hit either. The whole lineup went into submission after that 5th inning, and there isn't one guy who was at fault. Lou basically used everyone available, and apparently nobody wanted to win enough, or the Padres are just really really good. I'm going to go with the former.

The Cubs as a team choked. In my opinion, the pitching was the only bright spot. On a day in which nobody was really pitching well, they held the opposing team to 3 runs in 9 innings. Wade Miller was extremely shaky, but he didn't let the game get out of hand. Howry got into trouble but was able to get out of it, Wuertz pitched a pretty good two innings. Ohman was Ohman, but as far as I'm concerned the Cubs were lucky they got as many chances as they did.

I can't stand Cedeno! I think he looks like a scared little kid that has no idea what to do in a major league ballgame. I mean, I had faith and backed him up, but he just doesn't seem to have that natural baseball instinct yet. He freezes up and looks terrified when he's playing, IMO at least.

Typical Cub fan attitude, just blame it on one guy...of course there has to be some individual who is at fault, not the team as a whole. Will Ohman has had a rough going, especially early this year, but who else could they pitch?? He gave up a run, but if the offense wasn't going to score a run, they would've lost sooner or later anyway. We had 8 innings to score another run after 5th, and we couldn't even get a hit in 7 straight innings. And you're going to blame Will Ohman?? Ok, so now you've started blaming Jacque Jones singularly, for some reason. He had a bad day. But Murton (who should be out there every day) went up swinging at the first fucking pitch every at bat and didn't get a hit either. The whole lineup went into submission after that 5th inning, and there isn't one guy who was at fault. Lou basically used everyone available, and apparently nobody wanted to win enough, or the Padres are just really really good. I'm going to go with the former.

The Cubs as a team choked. In my opinion, the pitching was the only bright spot. On a day in which nobody was really pitching well, they held the opposing team to 3 runs in 9 innings. Wade Miller was extremely shaky, but he didn't let the game get out of hand. Howry got into trouble but was able to get out of it, Wuertz pitched a pretty good two innings. Ohman was Ohman, but as far as I'm concerned the Cubs were lucky they got as many chances as they did.

I ve been trying to catch most of them, but from what I hear they arent pitching well in like one or two innings and then the game goes down from there cause we can only pick up one or two runs a game (if were lucky).


And hitting in a clutch with any team is just luck to some point. At some point all your skill goes out the door when your the last dude to bat with the tieing run on and you gotta get him in.

Well Murton has done nothing. Neither has Jacque, so they've both been relatively useless this year. They will come around sooner or later. I would give Pie a chance, but I really think Angel Guzman needs to be brought back up. We are keeping the lefties Ohman and Eyre up here, but they have ERA's of 9.00 and 14.00 respectively, and I would rather see Guzman who was having a very good start to his season. We really need the game today. We need to at the very least split the first two series with the Cardinals.

At least the offense has held its own the last two games...I mean, Wade Miller is just plain bad so its hard to hold this lost against the Cubs. Hopefully the offense can keep things going and Zambrano, Hill, and Lilly can have good outings this week and we can get a sweep of the Brewers. The one good thing to take from today's game: Soriano's clutch hit. He had a great at-bat and he showed that he wants and can handle the pressure. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for him.
