Where the hell is my voter registration card? I registered over a month ago.

In Pittsburgh, the polls are only open til 6 in the evening. That leaves some people with very little time to get to the polls that day between school and work. What are their options?

What are the locations for voting?

In Indiana, my card came several weeks later, by mail, though they gave me a temporary thing at the place where I registered.

As for election day, many business will give time off to go vote, you might look into that. My company gives me an hour to go vote.

As for location, that should be printed on your card (whenever it arrives).

Hi new voter. I think they're open at like 6:30 or 7, from what I recall, 'cuz that's when I had to vote. Before work. Anyhow, go here http://www.dos.state.pa.us/DOS/site/default.asp
and find the general number for the Secretary of the Commonwealth. They should be able to direct you to the Allegheny County Board of Elections. Good luck!

I dont know if this helps but I registered in May and still havent received my voter card. However, I have recently received voter information pamphlets and such. Also, I believe you have a specific location that you have to vote at. I don't think you can choose any location. This will probably arrive with the card. Good luck.

I believe there is a law that gives employees the right to leave work for the sake of voting. Not sure if its a state thing or Fed, though....or am i imagining this?

If anyone's looking for information on voting or how to register to vote, I'd recommend the following site:

http://www.easytovote.com/

You can get voter registration forms and information specific to each state there.

Definitely check your local websites, but here's how it works for me in FL:

- They don't ask for your voter reg card when you go to vote, they ask for a picture ID -- drivers' license works just fine.

- Regarding finding your polling place without the card, you can generally go to the supervisor of elections office's website to figure out your precinct based on your address.

- 35 states allow early voting. You can vote via absentee ballot, and/or at some location, before election day, and they're supposed to be open at a variety of times.

Good luck!

Yes it is federal law you have to have time to vote.

The law is intended mainly for people who work 12 hour shifts and might literally be working 7-7 and not be able to vote. They have to have a chance to leave work and do so. If you legitimately have an issue with time constraints just talk to your employer about it. They may let you come in a little late, have a few extra minutes on lunch, or leave a little early if it's necessary.

I'm sure the delay with your card is just due to how busy all the elections offices are right now. Record numbers of people registering to vote in pretty much every state and even in previous years when voter apathy was the problem these places tended to be understaffed.

I registered in July or something like that and I still havent gotten my card. I was a little concerned, so I went to the county clerks office and made sure I was registered. I was registered so I asked them why I hadnt received my card yet. She said that our county was waiting until after the deadline to do one big mass mailing of voter cards. She also said that all you really need is a drivers license once you are actually registered.

So my advice would be to make sure that you are actually registered. Then just be patient for it to come in the mail.

Question: I have recently moved and the address on my Voter Registration Card is different than my new address. Will this present any problems on election day?

No, but you'll probably need to vote at the location for your old district. At least you didn't more real far ...

Good, I didn't know I didn't need my voter registration card. And here I was freaking out because I misplaced it.

Double check on it, but I don't recall ever needing mine on election day.
