"In a sign of the potential danger, Mullah Omar, the former Taliban supreme leader, warned Afghans to boycott the election or face attacks at polling stations, a senior Taliban official told CNN Friday.

We are sending warning to people to refrain from voting as we have planned to organize attacks with full strength on polling stations," said the message, which was read on the radio by the Taliban's former defense minister.

Voters will be responsible themselves if they come under Taliban attack."

I hope Kerry brings this up the 13th..

that poll should have a "who lost option" and once again i think we would all have to vote for the american people. i want a real debate. i want them in a room with real people. that can ask whatever the hell they want. these debates are worthless and i cant imagine they are changing anyones opinions.

But For all the people that have not made up thier minds, This does make a difference, because if you have not jumped up Bush's ass, you wont want to after seeing him next to Kerry!

The poll should have a 'tied' option.

I thought the questions from the people were as good if not better than the first debate moderator (and infinitely better than the VP debate person... she completely sucked)

Well, I'm pretty sure Bush changed the mind of the woman who asked his final question about what 3 mistakes he has made as President. He didn't just neglect to answer the question, he first implied the question was "obviously" about Iraq and then said when "these people" ask a question like that of course Iraq is what "they" mean. That shocked me. The woman asked him a question, how does he know what her motives were? It's one thing to treat a question from a journalist/moderator that way, but I couldn't belive how completely dismissive he was - not simply of the question, but of that woman who asked it.

What do you mean by this? I hope you don't think this signifies failure in Afghanistan. The terrorists realize what threats freedom and democracy are and they are willing to go to extrodinary lengths to keep the afghan people under their control. The terrorists are resolved to fighting this battle and we must be resolved to winning it.

Failure? No, but it`s not good news for Bush at all, something Kerry can use against him because Bush is so proud of this election in Afghanistan, when in fact there`s havoc over there and no time for election yet.

I think we (we also have soldiers in afghan) will win the war in Iraq, and I agree on being resolved. But that`s where I think the President made the mistake of taking most of the soldiers out of afghanistan and sending them to war nr.2 before the first one was anything but finished.

I don't think this is really bad news. We couldn't have expected anything different. If we hold elections today, or in 3 months, or in 3 years the terrorists will do everything they can to stop them. And if we wait 3 years, they'll be content to wait 3 years.

You may be right..I guess Iv`e been to optimistic about Afghanistan. Maybe because Iraq have gotten all the attention, or so it does seem when I watch the news anyway..

Troops weren't removed from Afghanistan to fight in Iraq. They're two completely different missions fought by different sectors of the military. The 10th Mountain Division is doing most of the fighting in the mountains of Afghanistan where the 1st Infantry Division's heavy armor would be useless. Similarly, the 10th Mountain Division would be useless in the deserts of Iraq where the Marines and the 1st ID's armor are most effective. Unfortunately, there are only so many Special Forces guys to go around which may marginally effect both engagements, but here again there are different units trained for different theaters of operation. Between the Navy and Air Force, we certainly have no shortage of air power to bring to bear in either theater.

air force and navy are looking to cut its forces.

army though, is trying to enlarge itself because of multiple engagements
