The first three people to list at least four of the 16 preseidential candidates, excluding Kerry and Bush, wins a prize! Don't cheat by looking it up or asking someone who knows.

There are more than 16, but some include Badnarik (Libertarian), Nader (Independant), and many more but I'd be cheating if I listed them because those above are the only ones I knew off the top of my head.

Someone told me there were 14 others besides Kerry and Bush. The next night I was flipping through channels and came across a debate between four alternative party candidates, one each from the Socialist, Constitution, Libertarian and Green Parties. I didn't know there was anyone else! I never thought to look into the other parties and when I did I found that there's someone out there that cares about the same things I do. I refused to register to vote for the longes time because all I saw were Bush and Kerry and I liked neither of them. Then I decided to register, and vote for Kerry, because he was the lesser of two evils. You shouldn't vote on that basis.

but, that's where it becomes hard because if you don't want bush, people consider voting for "alternative candidates" as throwing your vote away...
ie, so many votes that would have gone to kerry to help him win go to these other candidates, and then bush gets re-elected is one scenario.

Don't do it. Refuse to be captive of the 2 Party Masters. Find a candidate that you truly believe in and cast your vote. The only wasted vote is one cast for someone you don't support. Viva la Revolucion!!!

What do you think I meant by "you shouldn't vote on that basis"? I realized why I shouldn't and I won't.

Yeah I tried explaining this to my parents but they are convinced that I am throwing away a vote and helping Bush by voting for Nader. I live in CA where Bush needs a lot more help than my vote for Nader and I feel great for voting my mind and not the lesser of two evils. I was also really pissed at the Dems for having Nader removed from the CA ballot.

I was suprised when I got my sample ballot this weekend. In 2000, when I was voting in Colorado by the way, there were something like 20 candidates on the ballot. This year in Arizona there are only 3 (Bush, Kerry, and Bidnarik).

wow someone that understands, there arent many people around now days that realize that voting for someone because he is not another person (i.e. voting for kerry because he isnt bush) is a terrible mentality to have when it comes to voting for a president.
If you dont support what he believes or event think he will be a good president dont support him

Ideologically that is a good philosophy but if there is a case where you think the incumbent is flat out bad for the country and the other guy is less so, some might think taking one for the team is the way to go.

I agree with what you say here. But I don't agree with your support of Nader.
I actually did some field work for Nader in 2000 and voted for him. It wasn't hard to do so because my ballot was cast in Colorado and Gore was clearly not going to win that state. And I wanted to vote my conscience because Gore had just pissed me off.
So why don't I support Ralph this year? It's simple. He sold out. He has willingly gone along accepting money and "support" and legal help from conservative sources who openly admit that they are only "helpiung" Nader because they know it hurts Kerry. I've lost a lot of respect for Nader because he's gone along so blithely accepting this support this year.

I agree.
I would support Nader, except that I see him as a whinny bitch.

Yeah, Nader lost some points in my book by allowing himself to be used by those conservative groups but I don't think that those groups contributed enough to his campaign to label him a "sellout".
I heard Nader being interviewed on Public Radio the other day and he was great. I was voting for Kerry but I feel so much better voting my mind.
