I do believe he does. Are you having trouble with picking a certain part?

well i decided i would be all cool and not use a pick.. and things were going pretty well.. i can play the little intro and all the strumming patterns.. and then i realized it would be darn near impossible to do the little scale/runs without a pick... so i suppose I should go scrounge one up and work on it

Try to get a thicker one. 1.09 or a .96 maybe

i don't think Tim uses a pick, each of his fingers are his picks. But ehh, I could be wrong.

yeah, he uses one. he uses picks for the faster songs like Big Blast, Kundalini, Doom, and Stream.

it's just a really hard song no matter how you look at it

its funny, cause to tim, the fast songs are the easiest to play. fluffy wrote about it on the tim board. he said that theres an irony in the fact that the fans come to see tim do crazy stuff on the guitar, yet they only go nuts for the faster stuff which is way easier for tim. I should find that and post it.

edit, here:

That is exactly what I was thinking, I just didn't take the TIMe to type it out. TR is so the antithesis of what they think of him. Even more ironically is the fact that most of them complain about the "fast" stuff, yet at a TR show that seems to be the only TIMe the audience gets really excited. How IRONIC!! Isn't it ironic, doncha know! On tour we laugh about it because for TR the fast stuff is the easiest to play. It takes the least amount of precision. Then when he turns around and plays something really complex it just goes over their heads. LOL We equate it to gorillas. You know how when one gorilla starts beating his chest and getting excited, the other gorillas follow suit. We like to call that stuff "monkey noise" lol. TR beats his guitar really fast and the audience gets excited. It is quite funny to watch, especially when you see happen TIMe and TIMe again at show after show. Anyway, I saw that brilliant quote on amIdreaming.org in thread called "Tim fucking Reynolds"

Thanx for understanding, I think the misconception is that most DMB fans only know Stream so they think that is what TR is about mostly, and as we all know, IT MOST CERTAINLY ISN'T!! He has so many different facets and that is just one of them and in the grand scheme of things only a tiny part of his ability and talent. Anyway, opinions and preferences are like assholes, everyone has one. Who am I to say Warren Haynes isn't a better guitar player. I will say, "I prefer TR's style to Warren's", it's more appealing to me, more positive of a comment. See, now isn't that more pleasant than bashing Warren! There is already so much negativity in the world, do we have to compound it with arguments about something as beautiful as music. I think not. But that's just my opinion, I COULD BE WRONG LOL

I have heard TR speak almost those exact words. It's not that he HATES Stream, it's that it was written a long TIMe ago and he has so many more songs that are much closer and near and dear to his heart and soul. I think it would be hard to dredge up emotion for a song you wrote so long ago and I can't understand why someone wants to see TR perform a song where the emotion is just not there for him. He pulls it out of his ass sometimes and thats because, obviously, the mood or the feeling has struck him. I would much rather see an artist perform from his heart, what he wants to play, than go thru the motions on a song he just isn't feeling. Woops, I am rambling again, I'll stop. SORRY LOL

That's an interesting point. Makes sense. Once your right and left hands get coordinated, from an audience pleasing perspective it would probably be easier. Harder for the ear to differentiate mistakes and that middle part of stream has some strange chromatic stuff in it. You hit a wrong note at 200 bpm who's going to notice.
