I threw this together before my next class...Started playing back in january and would appreciate any type of criticism. I don't have an electric acoustic yet so this was done with my yamaha guitar with me singing at the same time.
Recorded on the Socom headset and used audacity to record...
THanks

Other than you've got an emo voice I liked it. You were on key the whole time, but it sounded like you were singing through your nose a lot. The voice sounded a little distant, too. Thats probably because of your set-up though.
I liked the scat at the end, you really got into it. I gotta say you don't come close to Dave in terms of how good your scat was, but he really sets the bar high.
The only thing I would change (I'm really getting picky now) is the loud strums here and there in the beginning. They were a little too loud. Not too big of a deal tho.
lol, and also, interesting album name

haha, that emo comment made me laugh... I went to the Braves Astros game last night and my voice was really nasily sounding this morning because of it. I really appreciate the comments. Music means so much to me and any way to improve, especially this early in my guitar years, will help me out greatly

vocals are too far back. guitar is amateur, but it works.
Not for anything. I dislike watchtower to begine with, but i dislike moreso when people cover daves version, cause a cover of a cover is just kind of lame to me. Obviously this is only my opinion, but what I look for in a cover is originality in interpretation with a good focus on the original (dylans).

Obviously I agree with you that covering a cover is really lame. I'm just starting out on guitar and wanted constructive criticism. I've been thinking of different ways to cover many other songs (not dmb), but at this point I think I'm still too amateur to pull them off. This was also my first recording, so I picked an easy song which I knew. Thanks all for your comments and hope you help me improve.,

the strumming pattern on the guitar needs a lot more variation. don't get me wrong, not bad for only playing since january, but the strumming in the intro and verses before the breakout are monotonus. pretty nice vocal work though. overall, not bad for such a thrown together, unrehersed, amatur recording.
