Hi, I've been playing this song since like 4 weeks ago by ear and I decided to record it today to hear just how bad I sound. I'ts only a small portion and I have a bad throat right now but I decided what the heck, I'm gonna share it, so I would like some fellow music players to hear it and tear it apart and tell me just how much it sucks or how close I am but in a constructive manner so I can get to play it better in time.

Thanks!

The voice isn't that bad, but the guitar doesn't sound in tune. Especially the Dm chord in the beginning.

Dm = D minor. also Check out www.Dmbtabs.com for a more accurate tab.

Overall, a nice cover. See if your guitar is in tune.
try to tweak it a little (chord wise.) sounded like a chord or two was off (I couldnt tell, it could be from the learning it by ear thing. Not sure.) This leads me to my next thing...See if you can mic your guitar with another mic...if at all possible cause your voice is drowning out the guitar. Just some suggestions.

Also, this a more of a 'technical thing' I ONLY got sound through my left ear on my speakers/headphones. (I know they work right.) What program did you use to record with? (See if it has a option in it, to CENTER the volume or something.)

I recorded it using All Sound Recorder XP 2.15. I think the reason it sounds only on the left side is because my mic is like really cheap.

I checked and my guitar is in tune but I'm just not hitting some chords right, specially the first ones I think. I'm gonna keep working trough the guitar theory thread from this forum and hopefully I'll be able to read the chords :)
Also some of my guitar strings vibrate against the frets and produce these horrible sounds :lol Maybe cause it's so old. I'm working on buying a new guitar.

Thanks for the input you guys.

sounds like you're letting too many open notes come out on the guitar. check out dmbtabs.com and u should be good. the formation of the chords in two step are essential to a dave arsenal.
