I am going to start one of these for Martin too, just so there is a place someone can read what others think about their guitars. Instead of having a ton of "What do you think about this Taylor" threads, someone can come here and find out. If you have pictures of your Taylor post them here too.
I own a 714ce-ltd and a 314ltd.
714ce-ltd - It has cocobolo back/sides, western cedar top, koa rosette. Has the Fishman Prefix Stereo Blender. I prefer the Fishman to the ES. This is, to me, the best guitar taylor makes, its my baby.
314ltd - 3 piece maple back, maple sides. sitka spruce top. gloss finish, headstock is gloss too. no electronics. In raised B tuning.
i have owned a 412ce, wasnt a big fan of the x12 series a little to thin sounding to me.
What does everyone else own?

own:
414ce L2 Rosewood back and side, spruce top. ES system, love the guitar, almost like an 814 without all the fancy stuff and sticker shock
420 Pau Ferro back and sides, pretty rare dreadnaught guitar. pau ferro looks and sounds like rosewood. this thing is old ('93) at least taylorwise. it sounds great, i've got so many compliments on it, i have the fishman matrix II installed. satin finish, dmb firedancer truss rod cover

'01 314ce-LTD.....maple back, sides and neck.....sitka spruce top....Fishman p/u
love it.
it's a very "bright" guitar......but a damn good one.....I usually run John Pearse Bluegrass strings on it....so it has a heck of a bottom end as well.
it can hang with the best of them.

Mine's a 414ce Ltd with Embuia back and sides, Sitka Spruce top and ES.
Embuia makes for a guitar that is bright and projects well. Looks really kewl too!
I can bang the hell out of it without it breaking up, yet I can play it soft and fingerpick and still get amazing tone out of it. Nothing compared to it in the price point, even
the same model Taylors with rosewood back and sides.

i own a 2001 fall limited edition 814CE-LTD It has brazilian rosewood back and sides.
Really sweet guitar. Plays really well and sound amazing. My dad just bought a '04 612CE-L3. It will probably be mine soon, cause he usually buys things and loses interest quickly then gives them to me. Thats how i got the 814

Own:
'00 914c - It has Indian Rosewood back/sides, custom German spruce top, abalone rosette/binding. It also has the "Cindly Inlay" and Torch on the headstock...Custom pickup is a L.R. Baggs MicroDrive II active pickup...ive played and owned several taylors (i.e. 310, 414c, 714c) and none of them come close to touching it...i will never let this one go.
Just Purchased, and should have by the end of the week:
'99 W65 - It has Claro Walnut top/back/sides, original "900 Series" Inlays, and custom active pickup(dont know which one yet)

2004 814ce. The nicest guitar I've ever had the pleasure of playing (much less owning). ES system, new 800 series fret inlays, Indian rosewood 2 piece back.
I use D'addario EXP 16's on it. Some of the sounds that it makes still surprise me.

ok, I didnt want to make a new thread about this little question. Pleasse dont bash for bringing old thread back.
Well i am thinking about getting a Taylor soon and I keep seeing 914-c and 914ce. Is there a difference between 914-c or 914ce?
Thanks.

actually, I noticed that my big baby is a little harder to play than other ones ive tried, as in you have to press a lot harder. Is there any way to fix that? Its strung with Dadarrio (sp?) exp15s.

Use lighter gauge strings, that will help a lot. If that doesnt work then you can go to a music store and they'll be able to fix it for you.

yes a music store will be able to help you out with that. You should be able to change the action. I think when you lower the action it will increase your playability.

2 month owner of a 2004 614 ce. i may be in the minority , but i think the 614 is one of the most under-rated guitars taylor makes. this guitar is simply amazing.

1999 814ce, one piece neck unlike the new ones with a 3 peice neck. Piece of crap Fishman blender, I want the retro-fittable ES system, but I'm waiting to make sure the retro-fittable system for non-NT necks are as good as they say they are, if not I'll get an Amulet Trance Audio system. I like my Taylor, but I'm not going to say it is the best sounding guitar I've played. James A. Olson makes much better guitars, unfortunatley they keep going up in price and the waiting list is out of hand.

I will agree with you on that. It's got to be the most versatile guitar I've ever owned or played.

I bought a brand new 614ce about a month ago and it wont stay out of my hands. I love it to death. I was looking at the 714ce as well but the 614 is so damn bright sounding. the big leaf maple is gorgeous to boot. Couldn't be more happy even though my check book is hurting.

i gave my guitar, a cheap alpine i picked up in a pawnshop, to my buddy who is leaving for iraq at the end of the month. i figured it was time to get a decent guitar anyway. i went down to guitar center and played a ton of the guitars. the guy working there was pretty helpful too. i was shocked at the difference between a well made guitar and the crap i had before.
to make a long story short, i decided to get the Taylor 310. i told him i just got out of the military a few days ago, so he gave me the guitar and case, strap, capo, and humidifier for $999 even.

Just bought a 415-L30 w/ ES about two hours ago. I'm about as happy as one could be right now...
For the record, this guitar cost $431 more than the Volkswagen I bought when I was 16. Now THAT's messed up...
... but oh-so-worth it

2003 414ce, ES. Simply an amazing guitar and the electronic system is first-class. I do not think I would buy another brand.
My only "complaint" is that the axe comes stock with heavy strings which can make finger style songs a little harder to play than with lighter stringed guitars. But I do so little of that that I dont really care.
