This is just an area where Martin owners can post a review of their guitars, so others looking to buy one can read about them, instead of posting tons of "is the martin xx any good?" threads, people interested can look here.
I own a Martin DM
DM - laminated mahogany back/sides, solid sitka spruce top, satin finish, nothing real fancy here. I love it though. i would like to someday get a HD-28v.
What does everyone else have?

I have an HD-35. 3 piece rosewood back, sitka spruce top 1/4" scalloped bracing. I have an L.R Baggs I-Beam installed which sounds amazing, with a little tweaking with either a DI or an amp, this pickup really brings out my guitar's sound plugged in.
This has the most full sound to a martin i've found. The HD-28v's, 28's, and 35's i played all had great sound, but most were too heavy on the bass with not nearly enough high end to balance. The HD-35 had the best balanced sound while still maintaining that great martin boomy bass sound. This is obviously my opinion though :)

Which model type (00, 000, OM, etc) is comparable to the x14 Taylor?
I like that shape.

i believe the OM is, but im not positive, maybe someone else could help you out on that one. you could always go play a couple and figure it out ;)

True, but I don't like to go into a guitar store, because 1.) it just teases me cuz I know I cannot afford it; or 2.) it tempts me into buying a guitar.

The Taylor x14 series is a grand auditorium. Martin's size is the M (0000) body or a 000(this one is a little smaller)
The Taylor x12 is the OM or 00 for Martin.
They are both a little different in sizes, but thats what generally is the comparison.
I have a 1969 D-35. Its is made of Brazilian Rosewood, its the last year Martin made this guitar with this type of wood. I love this guitar, it fits me like a glove and it has such a perfect tone. I will never ever part from this guitar. I have many guitars and I'll I can say is they get better with age.

I would love to have an older Martin. I only own 1 martin, but they are my favorite. I really want a HD-35 or a HD-28v. Those are my dream guitars.
And I second what he said...Martin's do get better as they age.

I have a JC-15E.. I think the year is 2000 or 2001, i really dont remember. It has the mahogony top, back, and sides with a satin finish. Right now it is in Raised B tuning but when it is in standard tuning there is alot of bass. Good guitar, I just wished the that the nut width was a little wider (like on my taylor) .

I also own a DM. It's definately not the same as the higher priced Martin's (that I adore), but its a very nice guitar. Maybe someday I'll have a whole collection...
