I've been trying my best to not read articles or check ESPN too much for it. I don't want to get all tingly in my no-no spot. Whoops. Too late.

A co-worker just sent this to me, it's pretty funny:
In order to address the complaints and hurt feelings of the rest of the NFL, the commissioner has adopted 10 new "Special Rules" for all New England Patriots games. They take effect immediately, and are as follows:
Special Rules for the Patriots:
1.) In the course of an NFL game, if the Patriots go up by more than 31 points, they are not allowed to play offense until the opposing team draws to within one score. (Pats will kick-off after an opposing team's touchdown or FG).
Once the team is within one score, the Pats offense may play, but Tom Brady may not, unless:
*The Pats play with 8 players (including Tom), or the Pats play with 9 players, but 1 player for The Patriots is chosen by the opposing team from the stands. No Patriots linebacker is allowed to play offense, unless that LB is inserted at quarterback. However, MIKE VRABEL cannot be quarterback.
2.) If an opposing player states "It's like were playing 7-on-5s" (7 offense, 5 defense during practice), such as indicated by Justin Smith, DE, Cincinnati Bengals 10/1/07, the Patriots must take a time out and serve ice cold lemonade or hot tea (weather dependent) to the opposing team. Scones are optional.
3.) Once the 31 pt rule is in effect, Patriots may challenge any play, but the opposing team gets veto power over the referee.
4.) Once the Pats offense is allowed back onto the field (7 pts), for any forward pass the Pats QB must point to the receiver and call out his number BEFORE passing. If Tom Brady is quarterbacking at the time, he must do that, plus turn the opposing team's water cooler into wine BEFORE passing.
5.) Belichick must diagram any Patriots play to the opposing defense and ensure they understand exactly how to disrupt the play. This all must be done within the play clock. If this process is not complete prior to the play clock expiring, the Patriots will be assessed a delay of game and double unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.
6.) Randy Moss must play with 10lb ankle weights on each ankle. An additional pound will be added for each TD this season.
7.) Wes Welker is not allowed to have "that crazy look" in his eyes. 10 yd, "crazy eyes" penalty assessed.
8.) Tom Brady must immediately stop dating supermodels as he will not be allowed to date anyone that is more attractive then the least attractive significant other of an opposing team member (including coaches). He also must start doing commercials for every product imaginable, especially ones where he chants "cut that meat!", or refers to himself "as a 6'5" quarterback with a laser-rocket arm"
9.) Bill Belichick is not allowed to be within 100 yds of any infant, for fear that his evil super-genius powers would assimilate such a defenseless creature into the Patriots System. We have already seen this effect on an inordinate amount of chipmunks, squirrels, and 'possum that commit suicide while crossing Rte 1 to reach Gillette Stadium.
10.) Patriots must respect all opposing players’ feelings and apologize for every first down. Touchdowns must be followed by a written apology and a fruit basket presented with a hug.

God asks Peyton Manning first: "What do you believe?"
Peyton thinks long and hard, looks God in the eye, and says,
"I believe in hard work, and in staying true to family and friends. I believe in giving. I was lucky, but I always tried to do right by my fans."
God can't help but see the essential goodness of Manning, and offers him a seat to his left.
Then God turns to Tony Romo and says, "What do you believe?"
Tony says, "I believe passion, discipline, courage and honor are the fundamentals of life. I, too, have been lucky, but win or lose, I've always tried to be a true sportsman, both on and off the playing fields."
God is greatly moved by Tony's sincere eloquence, and he offers him a seat to his right.
Finally, God turns to Tom Brady: "And you, Tom, what do you believe?"
Tom replies, "I believe you're in my seat."

-David is in the 5th grade. Yesterday morning when the teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came up; fireman, policeman, salesman, etc. The teacher noticed that little David was
being uncharacteristically quiet and so she asked him about his father.
"My father's an exotic dancer in a gay bar and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes, if the offer's really good, he'll go out to the alley with some guy and do it with him for money."
The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some coloring, and took little David aside to ask him, "Is that really true about your father?" "No," said David, "He plays for the Miami Dolphins, but I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids."

I was thinking, already the Pats have the longest winning streak in NFL history, right? That stretch a few seasons ago where they won like 22 straight games or something (including playoffs), but I realize because it was over 2 partial seasons, that it wouldn't match to what they're now likely to accomplish, the official "perfect season" with doing it from start to finish.
But I'm assuming that 2 season stretch gave them the longest streak ever?

He was a backup in college for a while too, and was drafted in the round 20 something.
Damn, and here I thought Brian Westbrook was an incredibly lucky pick for us in like the 7th round I think he was, considering how good of a back he's turned out to be... gotta be like triple that for Brady.
But about him even being the backup in high school and college, wasn't that one of the ironic things about Michael Jordan, that he was cut from his high school basketball team?

A little research...
1995-1998
Tom Brady attended the University of Michigan from 1995 through 1999. In the first three years (95-97) at Michigan he only played a limited role of backup quarterback (he began in 1995 as the seventh quarterback on the Michigan depth chart. However in 1998 (his senior season), Brady received the starting quarterback job for the Wolverines and played in and started all 13 games. His stats were a decent 214 completed passes on 350 attempts (school record) for 2636 yards, 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The Wolverines under Brady finished with a 10 & 3 record and a berth in the CompUSA Florida Citrus Bowl game vs Arkansas. Michigan won the game 45 to 31. Brady completed 14 of 27 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown in the victory.
1999
Brady stayed in college an extra year so he could get more starting experience before applying for the 2000 NFL draft. Once again he started every game (12) for the Michigan Wolverines and at the end of the season was named the Bo Schembechler Award winner as Michigan's Most Valuable Player. Tom Brady led the team to a 10 & 2 record and improved statistically also with 214 completions on 341 attempts for 2586 yards, 20 touchdowns and five interceptions. Surprisingly enough, the last game of his college career was also his best game ever as a quarterback up to that point. In the FedEx Orange Bowl vs Alabama on January 1, 2000, Brady led the Wolverines back from a 14 point deposit to win the game by a score of 35 to 34 in overtime. In the dramatic game and overtime finish Tom completed 34 of 46 passes for 369 yards and four touchdowns.
In his five years at Michigan, Tom Brady played in a total of 31 games and started 25. His record as a starter was 20 & 5. He finished his career in the Michigan record books with 443 completions on 711 attempts for 5351 yards, 35 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.

I think I'm rather indifferent about Brady passing Manning for the thrown TD's record, but I am kinda bummed about Randy Moss now owning the caught TD's one over Jerry Rice. The mid-80's to mid-90's 49ers were sort of my surrogate favorite team, Montana and Young being my 1st and 2nd fave quarterbacks of all time, and I'm a huge Jerry Rice fan, so I liked the idea of him owning that record. I'm especially hoping now Moss doesn't come up on Rice's career TDs record, but I've no idea where he is on that scale so far.

It kinda makes me laugh when I think about Brady passing Manning for this record, I mean because he's truly like Peyton's big brother that he'll just never fully surpass no matter what he does :p Like before last year, even all the times Manning had lost to him head to head, and had never won the big game, at least he could say hey baby, I've got the single season TD record (which had stood for, what, like 20 years?). And yea sure Indy finally won the Super Bowl last year, but still that's only one to Brady's 3 rings.
So I'm just wondernig of Manning's sitting back and thinking "Okay if somebody was gonna break the record from me... but did it have to be friggin HIM??" :lorraine

And the Patriots have as much of a running game as the Colts do, just cause we chose not to use it early in the season doesnt mean its not there.

b/c considering their record and performance thus far, anything short of a SB win would be an underachievement.
Our society looks fondly at overachievers, and the opposite is true for underachievers.
It is a great accomplishment though.

After listening to what Belichick had to say today you would think the Pats are 14 point underdogs! :)
FOXBOROUGH – Patriots coach Bill Belichick held his Tuesday press conference at Gillette Stadium (noon) and opened with the following statement:
“As I said the other day on the conference call, it’s a privilege for the New England Patriots and our football team to be part of the AFC Conference championship. Obviously it’s a huge game and it’s a huge honor to be involved in the game. So much at stake. A lot of hard work and a lot of wins have gone into the season on both sides. I really feel like we’re playing the best team in the AFC, in San Diego, certainly in the second half of the year. They’re an outstanding football team in every phase of the game. They have great talent, great production in every phase of the game. Well coached. I think [coach] Norv [Turner] and [general manager] A.J. [Smith] have done a tremendous job putting this team together. They’re playing as well as you can play right now.
“I thought that in the second half of the year, Jacksonville and San Diego, statistically, had really dominated the league. That’s certainly true. San Diego scores a lot, they’re averaging almost 30 points a game, giving up 13, 12, whatever it is. Outstanding on special teams. Very experienced group of players, as well as some young guys in there. Great depth on both sides of the ball, in all areas – linemen, linebackers, tight ends, running backs, skill players, special teams. I think they matched up well with everybody they played. I think that’s been reflected in their record since Thanksgiving, which is really when you want to be playing your best football. I’d say they’re certainly doing that.
“So, tremendous football team. They have two outstanding playoff wins against two other good football teams. I know we’re going to have to be at our best on Sunday to be able to compete with them. They do a lot of things well. They’re outstanding, all the way across the board.”

It says windy right on the forecast. 22 and windy aren't the best conditions for the Pats. I'm not saying the Chargers are going to play good in the cold, but cold weather doesn't favor a team plays like the 2007 Pats.

Dude, they play 8 home games in San Diego. Which is like bright and sunnny, and 75 degrees year round. I don think they can emulate those cold conditions in San Diego somehow.
They are equipped for a cold weather game with thier running game though. But LT is not 100%, but they still have the best back up in the game with Turner.
Hopefully the pats can stop the run, and make Rivers/Volek beat them in the air

With Gates + Chambers + Jackson i think the passing game of the Chargers can play in cold weather. All three can catch and run over the middle.
plus as an offense the RB have i think 2 fumbles the whole year and they where not lost.
This game is up to Rivers and if he can Keep the offense scoring and Brady off the field.

Pats win big. Colts were only team to show up the Patriots in the post season. They are out now. I honestly don't think the Chargers have what it takes. Same Pats D as last year, better Pats offense. Not to mention change of home field. (even though it played no part last year)

of course i would, we would free up Cromartie and Florence to cover the other recievers.
i mean Welker is good, but he is no Moss. Welker's success this season is directly proportional to Moss', no Moss and Welker is not as open.
HOnestly though, i think the only Corner who can cover Moss 1 on 1 would be Cromartie, he lacks the Verteran skill so he will get burned now, but Cromartie is the best athlete on the chargers and if not the best in the game one of the top 5. So, in a few years. :lol

But it wasn't that she was a kid at a game wearing the other teams shirt. She was a kid representing New England in the Pass Punt & Kick competition. I was watching a recap of the Patriots' season, and they showed Bruschi explain to the media that the win over the Chargers (you know, after Spygate happened) was the most satisfying of his career. Then they cut to a clip of the team swarming Bilicheck after the victory.
So my question is: It was confirmed that Bilicheck cheated, right? And if that's true, why did Bruschi act like his coach had been falsely accused? I mean, cheating is cheating. It's not like the win vindicated him. Because, well, he was caught cheating. I know a lot of fans will say, "They're 16-0! They don't need to cheat to win!" And I understand that. He stopped doing whatever he was doing after being called out. But how does a coach reprimanded by the NFL for cheating win Coach of the Year?
I didn't follow it much when the news broke, but now I'm a little surprised that a cheating coach banded an entire team and fan base together. Again, I say this because he was busted for cheating.
If it was determined that Magglio Ordonez played with a corked bat for the first, say, quarter of the last season, I would be a bit hesitant to get behind him. And I love the Tigers.
I would like some thoughtful responses, if possible.
