when i saw it live, i honestly read the look on her face as "oh boy, damn colts fans..haha" kinda look.

but you're right, it was uncalled for.
That's all I'm saying.
Girls take things much more personally at 12/13 than 6/7.
That's what I was trying to say!

I'm not bitter. The writing was on the wall for the Steelers during the 2nd half of the season.

I can think rationally about football, which is something you and your brethern lack.

Yeah when you said Big Ben was the best QB in the NFL, you were really being rational. :lol

It's so strange, you know facts about the game, but your opinions are so ridiculous I just have to laugh at them.

All of a sudden, in your opinion the Chargers are hot shit. Where was that opinion weeks ago?

You are such a bandwagoner its mindboggling. You criticize the media and ESPN of doing it, but you are just as bad at picking the flavor of the week.

I was watching a recap of the Patriots' season, and they showed Bruschi explain to the media that the win over the Chargers (you know, after Spygate happened) was the most satisfying of his career. Then they cut to a clip of the team swarming Bilicheck after the victory.

So my question is: It was confirmed that Bilicheck cheated, right? And if that's true, why did Bruschi act like his coach had been falsely accused? I mean, cheating is cheating. It's not like the win vindicated him. Because, well, he was caught cheating. I know a lot of fans will say, "They're 16-0! They don't need to cheat to win!" And I understand that. He stopped doing whatever he was doing after being called out. But how does a coach reprimanded by the NFL for cheating win Coach of the Year?

I didn't follow it much when the news broke, but now I'm a little surprised that a cheating coach banded an entire team and fan base together. Again, I say this because he was busted for cheating.

If it was determined that Magglio Ordonez played with a corked bat for the first, say, quarter of the last season, I would be a bit hesitant to get behind him. And I love the Tigers.

I would like some thoughtful responses, if possible.

Bruschi was behind his coach and had his coache's back. What else should he have done?

And to be honest, I think most people INVOLVED in the NFL (players, coaches, etc) know that what Belichick did was widespread.

Jimmy Johnson has come out and said he did it, and if you want to discredit ANYTHING NE has done, you have to discredit Dallas from when Johnson coached them. And Johnson mentioned one of Dungy's coaches, Schottenheimer, etc.

I think what Belichick did IS wrong in the sense that there was a memo sent to all teams, and he still did it. But before that memo, whether you want to believe it or not, most teams did it. Some of you will be naive and deny that, but that's your problem. Belichick was caught because he ignored the memo, and he was made to be an example.

Think about it. The league sent out a memorandum about it because the commish KNEW that everyone was doing it. It's not rocket science. Belichick was just stupid enough to ignore that memo, and that's what I'm embarassed about.

But again, you complain that Bruschi backed up his coach and had his back. What else should he have done? The Patriots celebrate the TEAM attitude, and rallying behind your teammates/coaches is important.

Some of your thoughts about the Steelers wasn't really rational. For instance, i believe you said that the Steelers were better off with Willie Parker being injured? Or something to that Nature, about Willie Parker not being a good running back.

He's not a good RB, but he's a great weapon. For every 30 yarder he breaks, he gets you into a handful of bad down and yardage situations. People who see him a few times per year fall in love with the explosiveness

I wish you would stop misquoting me.

I never said Ben was the best QB. I said he was among the best, which he is, and that he was a deserving MVP candidate, which he was. You also confuse my opinions for things that are facts, because both of those claims were based on statisitcal evidence.

I'm not a flip flopper or a bandwagon. I love football, and I reevaluate my thoughts and feelings every week based on what I see and what I read from the nonmaninstream football media.

If you look at the whole season, then yes the Pats should be a huge favorite. However, down the stretch the Chargers and Pats played at the same level. My opinion is this, the Chargers pose a serious threat to the Patriots because of their always improving young secondary, a set of dynamic pass rushers, and the offensive weapons to attack the Pats lack of speed between the numbers.

This girl getting booed is a ridiculous story. I've been to atleast 2 playoff games that hosted the PP&K winners, and I've seen plenty of kids from Baltimore, Clevleland, Cincy, and NE get booed.

I believe Ben was more valuable to the Steelers than Brady was to the Pats. I don't see why this is considered blasphemy by Pats fans, especially when I said along with my Ben statement, that Brady is deserving of all praise that comes his way for the season he just had.

But it wasn't that she was a kid at a game wearing the other teams shirt. She was a kid representing New England in the Pass Punt & Kick competition. There were kids from all over wearing other teams jersey's (that's what they do at this competition). That's why it bothers me. This is something that's done every year, and never before to my recollection, has a kid been booed before! That is just completely uncalled for and unnecessary. Don't boo the kid! That's just bad.

Well, I never complained that Bruschi backed up his coach. I was just confused in the manner in which he said it, as if his coach had done nothing wrong, yet was still chastised by everyone. That's all.

And I'm not saying it wasn't widespread. But part of me wonders if it was so common, why was Belichick reprimanded? If everyone was doing it, is it really cheating? There is an extremely small part of me that thinks an excuse was made up because it's the Patriots.

Extremely small.

Belichick has been on top of his game the past few days! Love this one! :)

FOXBOROUGH -- Patriots coach Bill Belichick held his Thursday press conference (10:50 a.m.) and one part that stood out was when he was asked his thoughts on the San Diego Chargers' catchy theme song -- the Super Chargers.

"I hate that song," Belichick said on cue, drawing laughter from the assembled crowd of media members.

"First time I heard that song was when I was with the Giants and we played out there, and they had Chandler, they had Muncie, they had Winslow, Jefferson, Fouts, and it was a track meet. They didn't get through playing that song before they had scored again. And they started playing it again. That San Diego Super Chargers, that's still ringing in my head. Yeah, I don't like to hear that song, and I don't like to hear 'Hail to the Redskins' either. When those songs play, it means things aren't going good for us. I've never been with those teams, so those songs have never been music to my ears."

In answer to your question, it's wrong because it is against league rules, even though it seems to fairly wide spread. It wasn't made up because Belichick admited that what was done was wrong and that it was his fault. So, does everyone do it, the majority think so, that does not however make it okay because it is against the league rules. Why were the Patriots/ Belichick remprimaned, because they got caught (were reported by the Jets). Does that help?

Hopefully, Gerald Austin isn't one of the officials in this game.

He is the worst official I have ever seen. It's like he chooses a side before the game, and makes awful calls against the other side that doesnt make sense.

Rivers won't take the game over by himself, especially against a team like the Pats. But, he can throw the deep ball more accurately and the Chargers will be willing to open it up more with Rivers in there -- which against the Pats you need to be able to do.

IMO, Rivers doesnt have that strong of an arm.

You can't throw a great deep ball when you throw the ball side arm, and with the "pushing" motion he has.

He'll never be a great deep ball thrower..

Billy Volek JUST SAID IT.

They are talking about having confidence in Volek if he has to come in for Rivers, and Volek said "As QB, it's not like I have to do much. We have so much talent around here, all I have to do is hand the ball off to LT...."

EXACTLY.

Goes with Rivers too, he doesnt do much, he just hands the ball off. Anytime a QB has 10 games with under 200 yds passing, he is obviously not the one carrying them to any wins.

Rivers is just there, he doesnt win SD games...

wtf? I Have actually never done that. I talk a lot of smack and I talk a big game, but I don't ever actually rub it in anyone's face right after. I might give someone a hard time a year later or something, as a joke/to make some point, but I NEVER rub a loss in a fan's face following something like this.

You can even ask any of the Indy fans how many times I've rubbed it in their face....never. Cuz I know what it's like to have people jump down my throat after one of my teams loses. I think you could even ask Yankees fans that I did NOT once make a comment that was mean after the Yankees were beat by Cleveland.

That's why I generally don't rub it in anyone's face....it sucks.

To me it says alot about a person when it isn't good enough to sit back and feel happy about something, instead they feel the need to take that good feeling and make other people feel bad with it

It's a tough call. The 04 Pats weren't a slouch on offense by any means. Dillion was 6th in DVOA among RB, 3 WRs were in the Top 30 of DVOA, and Brady was 2nd in DVOA among QBs. They went about things in a different way.

The 2004 playoff run was far more impressive against much better competition. They smoked a 12-4 Colts team and 15-1 Steelers who were coached by future hall of famers, and beat what I believe was a 13-3 Eagles.

rickyh24

rivers has been basically not able to grow as an nfl player. he was inserted into a system built to start winning NOW. thats a tough learning process for a young kid. if you look at eli, granted he went to the playoffs his first starting season, that team was just being built by rookies and a young offensive line. he had more a of a chance to grow with his teammates. imo, rivers is doing a hell of a job, and will continue to do so.

Plaxico Buttfuck is a bitch:

Whiner of the Week: Burress’ big mouth
Giant not smart to even hint N.Y. receivers may be better than Brady’s crew

Playground taunts are as cheap as the words they are made of, which is the reason we hold them in such high disregard here at the world headquarters of Whine of the Week.

Even so, we have to admit that what Giants’ wide receiver Plaxico Burress said about the Patriots last week would not have risen to the top of the WOW dishonor roll had this not been Super Bowl Week and had he not been the only player from either the Patriots or the Giants to say anything even vaguely whiney.

But he opened his mouth, so he gets to lead off. Specifically, he told reporters that the Giants receiving corps, which is led by himself and Amani Toomer, is better than that of the Patriots, led by Randy Moss and Wes Welker.

Welker, of course, caught about 700 passes during the regular season, and Moss set a single-season record for touchdown receptions. Other than that, they weren’t any better than the Giants’ receivers — or the Dolphins’ receivers, for that matter.

Yet, Burress told reporters, “We have guys that can go out and do things just as well or maybe better than some of those guys.” We’re not sure which guys he was referring to. Maybe he meant the guys who clean the cleats and do the laundry.

Dishonorable mentions:

In a parallel universe where the Patriots won they would probably be lauded as the greatest football team of all time. Though I thoroughly despise them without reason, I still must admit that they have to rank up there.

The Pats are supposed to be this genius organization, but they've put together deeply flawed teams together the last 2 seasons while having the resources to put together Super Bowl winners.

Last year they left 20 million on the table while making Brady throw to a collection of curtain jerkers. This year they put together an offense with no physicality and a defense featuring several players who don't belong on the field.

Discuss.

The defense didn't lost the game.

The offense did because they couldn't run the ball when the pass wasn't there.

The offense did because they couldn't run the ball when the pass wasn't there.

The Pats didn't adjust at all to the Giants pressure. You'd think someone on that coaching staff would throw in some screens, or some draws, and some run plays to keep the Giants front four from just teeing up on Brady. Instead, they kept passing. And lost.

When you don't have balance teams catch up and you get hammered.

I think the Pats are about to take a big step backwards. They'll be a playoff team as long as Brady is playing well, but I think the sun has set on the Pats dynasty.

Samuel is as good as gone, which leave the Pats with Brady, Wilfork, Seymour, and a bunch of role players. The Pats, Colts, and Steelers are all on the downslide, but I really don't think anyone other than the Chargers are prepared to step into the void.

Although, I must say regarding the spygate thing .. the competition comm. have come out and said that the league should just move on, after speaking with Goodell. Considering Polian and other league executives are part of this committee, I tend to agree.

Unless, Walsh comes out with a "smoking gun" video, it's time to move on. The Pats legacy being permanently tainted and their fans being put down a few notches (after the SB loss) they've "paid" enough.

If Polian says so, I tend to agree, b/c I doubt he'd ever give the Pats a break. It's better for the league to just move on ... it won't happen though, until we see what Walsh has.

I blame Goodell for this mess, he completely mishandled it to begin with.

Do you just not get that I don't like Manning and say ridiculous crap all the time about him? I mean, really? because holy shit, if you're just now joining us in the whole "Katie makes crazy comments about Manning" thing, you're WAY behind in the curve.

And I singled you out because you take pride in pointing out how unbiased I am. Youre a general prick to me around here and get off by being a total douchebag to everyone. Mike at least knows what I meant with my comment. You get all up in arms about how I'm such an idiot. Wow, sorry I don't fellate every single player on the face of the earth. Actually, never mind, I'm not sorry about that, I'm actually really glad. Aren't you the same guy who makes excuses for Barry Bonds? Exactly.

Did Manning have his best year? no. Did Brady have his? yup. So me saying that I hope that this year was Manning's prime was my way of saying that I'd love for Brady to always have better years than Manning. But all you saw was "Katie. Idiot. Must attack. now.".
