Baltimore radio DJs piss me the fuck off...they are so stupid and don't know anything.
Beginning of the season, this one marginally r-tarded DJ was going on and on about how Sanchez is the best QB in the league, and he's going to win the super bowl this year, and blah blah blah, ball washing, ball washing, ball washing. This morning...he's like "I have never liked Mark Sanchez...he's such a phony. He folds like a house of cards. Hating hating hating". Which, I'm fine, but it annoys me that he claimed that Sanchez was this total super star a month or two ago, and now he's claiming that he's always hated Sanchez.

they are on pace to be the highest scoring pats team behind the 07 team. i highly doubt they'll ever outscore the 07 pats team because of the way the system is now, but i believe the pats right now are better than they were in 07. they have a running game when they need it and their defense has stepped up finally under BB.
in 07 the pass was our only option. Green-Ellis was a beast on the ground yesterday when he needed to be

Jets (9-4) last three games are @ Steelers, @ Bears, vs. Buffalo.
lets say they lose to Pittsburgh & Chicago. That puts them at 10-6.
If KC runs that table, they'll finish 11-5. If San Diego runs the table, they'll finish 10-6. If Indy beats Jacksonville next week and they both win their last two games, they'll both finish 10-6 as well.
either Pittsburgh or Baltimore is going to take one wildcard, which would leave KC (if they lose one of three) or San Diego and Jacksonville or Indy, and the Jets all fighting for the last wildcard spot. :lol
this should be a fun three weeks.

the only team that will beat the Pats this year will be a team that can run the ball enough to keep Brady on the sideline more than he's used to. even then, it will take a turnover or two and a good play somewhere on special teams to pull off the victory.

Woodhead is not perceived to be as valuable a player as an Adrian Peterson or Jones-Drew, for example by many NFL pundits when you can make the case that he's even more valuable then those and many other RBs.
Same with Branch. I'd take Branch over a lot of wide receivers in the NFL right now but he's still not perceived to be a top-tier receiver.
WEEI and ESPN are New England-based mediums, so I don't count them (yes, they're homers for Boston teams).

they came into the 07 super bowl with a bad game plan and didn't switch it up. The points they were putting up all season and to come out and only put up 14 against a team they scored 38 on only a few weeks before. Plus Brady didn't have play great in those playoffs (not including the jaguars game) He was also sacked 5 times and lost a fumble in that Giants game...aside from that final Giants drive I think the D played better than the offense in that super bowl.
That being said and the way they have been playing lately I think the '10 Patriots are a better team than the '07 Patriots.

Yes, but going by those standards, the Pats manhandled a really good team, which should (in theory) bump them ahead of the Falcons. Beating up on a really good team > beating up on a shitty team.

so let's say the Patriots jump Atlanta this week because of their opponents. two weeks from now would you not have a problem with Atlanta going back ahead of the Pats if they beat the Saints and the Pats beat the Bills?
typically how these things work is that if you're #1, you stay there until you lose. probably won't happen this week, but that's normally the way it goes.
good thing is, there's a playoff so none of this matters. :)

I just don't get how beating Ravens, Rams, Green bay, Tampa Bay and Carolina is more impressive than beating the Steelers, Colts, Lions, Jets, and Chicago.
Tampa bay is shit (they have only beat teams that are <.500), Carolina and the Rams? Really? Green Bay and Ravens are decent, but they don't compare to, say, Jets/Steelers.
We better take the lead this week.

i agree. but you cant fault the falcons for beating a shitty team :lol they did what they were supposed to do. if they won by 3 in OT, then yes, knock them out of the #1 team...
but these are power rankings which are completely meaningless anyway...i bet the jets are still in the top 10 and there are def 10 teams hotter than the jets

Also, if typically you keep your ranking at #1 until you lose, then why did the Pats lose their #1 ranking? The Falcons and the Pats have the same record and were ranked #1 before the Falcons were.

But how is manhandling a shitty team better than manhandling a good team? That's what I don't get. Yes the Falcons should have beat the crap out of the Panthers, and that's what they did. However, the Bears and Patriots game should have been much closer, but the Pats rolled all over the Bears, hence making them a better team (in my ridiculous opinion). it's really simple. the falcons went into the game the #1 team in the power rankings. they did their job and beat the panthers pretty handily...at no point did they look like they were going to lose...how do you tell this team they are no longer #1 after that performance?

i'd take #2 in the power rankings anyday. remember in 07 when the pats were "the best team ever" every week and they had so much media in their face about an undefeated season... that had to burn the team out early. they didnt win their last few regular season games/playoff games by a huge margin.

I agree, I like how the team has gelled and how the rookies (both on offense and defense) are really stepping up and learning their roles. I think it's a lot more fun watching the games at this point in the season this year than in 2007. There was so much pressure, plus the Pats started to weaken each week, whereas this year they are getting stronger and better each week. It's been interesting to watch the progression.
good luck next week

and football is a team game, which is why brady is the best. he put his team in position to win 3 superbowl titles while putting up huge personal numbers as well.... manning put up huge personal numbers but doesnt have the superbowls and team wins to prove he's the best
Peyton has PLENTY of wins, just not playoff wins. This argument will never be settled unless
A) Peyton wins more superbowls or
B) Brady puts up better numbers.
So let it rest.

Exactly. Also, in order for Peyton to have so many yards and so many completions, someone else has to catch and run with the ball. I call that "team work". Yes Peyton is a phenomenal quarterback, but he's not accumulating all of those stats by himself either. So you can't really take the whole 'team' element out of the equation. Plus Tom Brady has lead the Patriots to 4 Super Bowl appearances and 3 Super Bowl wins. Peyton has lead the Colts to 2 Super Bowl appearances and 1 Super Bowl win.
Brady > Manning.

not within this argument it isnt. Sure, Brady has some awesome numbers, but not better than Peyton's. That cannot be argued..
The reason Brady has an edge is his clutchness and Rings.
Peyton has an edge is with this numbers. So whoever can improve upon their weaker aspect will end up #1.

clock management. brady doesnt throw the ball nearly as much as peyton. the offense brady has always run, minus the years with moss, was run through clock management. short, accurate passes, screens, swings, play action (which brady is known for as one of the best play action passers of all time) power running game...it's all run through tom brady...

Any Peyton doesn't manipulate the offense or direct the offense enough? I'm not sure what you're saying. I mean I get that Manning throws a shit ton, but you still need to complete passes
new argument, who's better at the play-action Pass. Brady or Favre

justin, would you rather have your team won 3 rings and your qb 1 mvp or your qb win 3 mvps and your team win 1 ring?
DMBstandUP1984
12-16-2010, 10:31 AM
My team is the Dallas Cowboys...In that situation I much rather have them have 3 Super Bowl rings (which they do but I assume you mean current era) then Tony Romo have 4 MVPs.
Peyton Manning could have 3 super bowl wins with 3 different teams and I'd be happy about it....If he never leaves the Colts sure it would be nice for them to pick up a few more rings since over the years I have become more of a fan of the team as well as Manning but as long as he keeps stacking MVPs I'm fine with that also.

Here you go Juice:
LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- As the Chicago Bears (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/chi/chicago-bears) prepare for the possibility of playing outdoors Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/min/minnesota-vikings), they may want to use a lesson learned the hard way Sunday against the New England Patriots (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/ne/new-england-patriots).
Most of the defensive linemen switched to different cleats at halftime Sunday in snowy Soldier Field, according to one player who requested anonymity. Some players switched from molded cleats -- which have softer soles, and are considered by many to be more comfortable -- to screw-in spikes. Some switched from shorter 3/4-inch spikes -- typically used on wet or soft grass -- to one-inch spikes.
But by then, the Patriots held a 33-0 lead en route to a 36-7 blowout.
"It's not unusual for guys to change shoes under changing conditions," a team spokesman said Wednesday.
The Patriots rushed for 80 yards in the first half against a Bears defense that has given up 80 rushing yards or more in just six games all season.
"You've got to cancel the field conditions out because both teams are playing under the same conditions," Bears defensive end Israel Idonije (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4996) said. "It comes down to who is more disciplined, who's playing with better pad level, those kinds of things.
"The field, yeah it was bad conditions, but you've just got to play differently, and you've got to adjust."
